How to Schedule Different Videos on a 24/7 YouTube Livestream

To schedule different prerecorded videos on one continuous YouTube livestream, schedule the YouTube broadcast and use an encoder or hosted service to play the videos in order and send them as a live feed. YouTube Studio scheduling sets up the broadcast; it does not, by itself, queue separate video files for continuous playback.

What you need to schedule

Think of this as two separate jobs: YouTube manages the live broadcast, while a playlist player supplies the video and audio. That player can run on your computer in streaming software, or on a hosted service. YouTube’s Live Streaming API can schedule and manage broadcast and stream resources, but it is not itself a consumer playlist player (YouTube Live Streaming API reference).

Choose a local encoder if you want to manage playback on your own computer and can keep it running. Choose a hosted playlist service if you want video playback and stream generation to run on the provider’s system. In either case, confirm the service’s duration limits, monitoring, interruption recovery, protocol, and current terms before relying on an unattended broadcast.

Check that your channel can go live

YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a livestreaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must meet YouTube’s minimum age requirement of 16. Check the current requirements and setup options in YouTube’s getting-started guide, since platform rules can change.

Decide whether the broadcast should be public, unlisted, or private in YouTube Studio. Make sure you have the right to livestream every video, including its music and other embedded material. Permission to upload a video does not necessarily include the rights needed to broadcast it continuously.

Option 1: Run the playlist from your computer

A local encoder sends the playlist output to YouTube. OBS is one possible encoder, but its exact playlist setup depends on the current software version and workflow. Consult the OBS Project Help Portal for current documentation; do not assume YouTube Studio will play a queue of separate files for you.

  1. Prepare the video sequence. Put the files in the intended order and check that each plays, has the expected audio, and transitions as you want. Decide what should happen when the final item ends: repeat the sequence or stop the broadcast.
  2. Configure playlist playback in your encoder. Set up the encoder so it plays the files in sequence and outputs a continuous programme. Confirm the exact playlist controls in the documentation for the software version you use; the available OBS help material does not establish a specific current button-by-button procedure.
  3. Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, use the current Live Control Room workflow to create the event and set its visibility and start time. YouTube recommends setting up encoder streams ahead of time, checking the preview before going live, and monitoring audio and video quality. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
  4. Connect the encoder. Use the stream connection details supplied in YouTube Studio and the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to send a feed to your channel.
  5. Test before the scheduled start. Check the preview, first and last videos, sequence order, transitions, audio levels, and broadcast visibility. Keep the encoder and computer running for the full time you need the local stream to continue, and arrange monitoring for a long or unattended run.

YouTube advises checking the stream preview and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. A successful test is useful, but it does not guarantee an uninterrupted run; plan how you will notice and respond to a stalled encoder, network loss, or other interruption.

Option 2: Use a hosted playlist service

A hosted service plays the selected files and sends the feed from its own infrastructure. This avoids depending on your home computer to generate the broadcast, but the workflow and limits are provider-specific. Verify current eligibility, maximum run time, storage, stream monitoring, recovery behavior, supported connection method, and price with the provider.

OneStream Live

OneStream Live’s help page describes selecting videos from a device, its storage, or cloud storage, connecting a YouTube channel, entering stream details, and scheduling a 24-hour broadcast. The vendor’s page, last updated September 3, 2026, states that this feature requires its Enterprise plan and that a stream can run for up to 30 days. These are OneStream Live’s stated feature terms, not YouTube-wide limits; check the current OneStream Live instructions before choosing it.

Looping Stream

Looping Stream describes building a playlist for continuous cloud streaming to YouTube on its service page. The page does not establish enough detail to compare its plan limits, monitoring, recovery, or other terms with alternatives. Confirm those details directly before relying on the service.

Run a preflight check

  • Confirm channel eligibility and the broadcast’s visibility and start time.
  • Check that you have livestreaming rights for all video and audio in the sequence.
  • Verify the video order, transitions, sound, and what happens at the end of the playlist.
  • Check the YouTube preview and confirm the correct feed is connected.
  • Plan how someone will monitor the stream and respond to a failure or interruption.
  • For a hosted workflow, verify the provider’s current duration, plan, and recovery terms.

HLS applies only when you choose HLS ingestion

Do not apply HLS settings to every YouTube stream. If your encoder or service specifically uses HLS ingestion, YouTube documents segment durations of 1–4 seconds, TS segment format, no byte-range support, and a rolling playlist with at most five outstanding segments. HLS requests use HTTPS POST/PUT, and encryption is supported only through HTTPS. YouTube also says HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it sends video segments rather than a continuous stream. See YouTube’s HLS setup guidance.

Troubleshoot common scheduling problems

The scheduled livestream does not play the separate videos

Cause: Scheduling creates the YouTube event, but does not provide a playlist player. Fix: Configure an encoder or hosted playlist service to send the sequence as the live feed, then check the preview.

The broadcast is unavailable or cannot be started

Cause: The channel may not meet YouTube’s current live-stream access requirements, or a restriction may apply. Fix: Review the channel’s status and YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

The wrong video plays, or the sequence stops unexpectedly

Cause: The playlist may be ordered incorrectly, configured to stop at the end, or interrupted by the encoder or provider workflow. Fix: Test the whole intended sequence, confirm the end-of-playlist behavior, and check the software or provider’s current playback and recovery guidance.

The YouTube preview has no sound or shows the wrong feed

Cause: The encoder may be sending a different source, or its audio routing may not match the playlist. Fix: Inspect the encoder’s output and audio meters, then verify the preview before starting the scheduled broadcast.

The stream has more latency than expected

Cause: The selected ingestion method may be HLS, which YouTube says has higher latency than RTMP. Fix: Confirm which protocol your encoder or provider uses and consult its YouTube-compatible settings. Apply HLS-specific requirements only if you are using HLS.
