How to Schedule Daily Screenshots for a List of Website URLs

To capture a list of websites every day, combine a daily trigger with a workflow that sends each URL to a screenshot service and saves the result. For no-code capture, Urlbox documents a Zapier schedule workflow and offers CaptureDeck for pasted URL lists or CSV imports. For a custom developer workflow, use ScreenshotOne’s bulk endpoint with a separate scheduler and queue. Choose based on how much control you need over processing, retries, and storage.

Choose a workflow for your URL list

Approach Best fit How the list enters Scheduling and processing Output
ScreenshotNeo Developers who want a screenshot API or MCP server and want unsuccessful or cache-hit captures to be free API requests; bulk capture supports up to 100 URLs per call Use an external daily scheduler; manage batches and any workflow-specific retry logic PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; choose a destination in your own workflow
Urlbox with Zapier No-code recurring captures with a workflow such as saving results to Drive Urlbox capture workflow; Urlbox docs also mention URL lists from Google Sheets and Airtable Urlbox’s guide outlines scheduling through Zapier, including daily schedules The guide demonstrates Google Drive; verify current destination and retention options in your account
Urlbox CaptureDeck A managed URL-list or CSV workflow Paste URLs or import a CSV Its product page describes recurring scheduled captures Reports and downloadable archives are described; check current retention and destination details
ScreenshotOne bulk API Developers building their own capture pipeline Submit multiple URLs to the bulk endpoint The bulk endpoint handles multiple URLs, but the cited docs do not specify a daily scheduler; add one separately and queue work Handle returned links or image files in your application

Features and documentation are not a neutral performance comparison, and the cited sources do not establish current prices or a common benchmark. Check each provider’s current plan limits, integrations, output options, and retention terms before committing to a daily volume.

Plan the daily run before you automate it

Prepare and validate the URL list

Keep the list in a maintained source: a CSV, spreadsheet, or application database. Normalize URLs, remove duplicates, and test a representative sample before scheduling the full run. Note which pages require login, are highly dynamic, or display consent banners; those conditions can change what a capture shows.

Define what counts as a complete run

A trigger starting successfully does not mean every page rendered or every file was stored. Decide how the workflow records per-URL status, identifies missing captures, and makes failures visible. If the images are used for monitoring, preserve enough run information to associate each output with its URL and capture time.

Choose a destination and retention policy

Decide whether you need files in cloud storage, an archive, or an application database. The Urlbox Zapier guide illustrates saving captures to Google Drive, and CaptureDeck describes reports and downloadable archives. Verify the current destination support, naming behavior, access controls, and retention in the selected account. If pages contain private or account-specific content, restrict access to both the capture service and stored files.

No-code: schedule captures with Urlbox

Option A: recurring URL-list captures in CaptureDeck

  1. Prepare the URLs as a list or CSV. Urlbox describes both pasting URLs and importing a CSV in its CaptureDeck product information.
  2. Set up the recurring capture schedule in CaptureDeck and confirm the intended daily time and timezone in the current interface.
  3. Choose the available report or archive workflow, then check how files are named, where they can be downloaded or delivered, and how long they remain available.
  4. Run a small test with representative URLs. Check the output for redirects, login pages, consent overlays, and incomplete or unexpected rendering before relying on the schedule.

Option B: Urlbox with a Zapier schedule

Urlbox’s guide, updated 2025-03-21, outlines using Zapier to trigger screenshot captures hourly, daily, weekly, or at a specified time. Its prerequisites are Urlbox and Zapier accounts; the Google Drive example also needs a Google account. Follow the current walkthrough at Urlbox’s scheduled screenshot guide.

  1. Create a schedule trigger in Zapier and choose a daily cadence and time that suit the workflow.
  2. Connect the Urlbox capture action and map the URL or URL-list source into it. Urlbox documentation mentions lists from Google Sheets and Airtable; check the current Zapier action and account setup for the available trigger and field mappings.
  3. For the Drive example, connect Google Drive and select the destination folder. Confirm the current workflow’s handling of filenames and multiple URLs.
  4. Test with a small set, then inspect both the Zap run history and saved outputs for failed or missing captures.

For the guide and related setup information, see Urlbox Docs. Integration availability and account-specific options can change, so verify them in the active accounts rather than assuming every destination or retention setting is included.

Developer/API: schedule a daily bulk-capture job

Separate the scheduler from screenshot processing

A bulk endpoint processes multiple URLs, but it is not by itself a daily scheduler. Run a scheduled job in your own environment, read the maintained URL list, submit work in batches, and save or record each result. ScreenshotOne’s bulk screenshot documentation describes its bulk endpoint. Its guide to screenshots of multiple URLs advises queueing URLs in batches, retrying failures, and observing usage values for concurrency remaining and reset.

Build a reliable queue

  • Use a persistent queue if jobs must survive process restarts or be shared across multiple workers.
  • Track each URL’s state, such as queued, submitted, complete, or failed, along with the output location and any retry count.
  • Retry transient failures with a limit and delay rather than looping without bound. Keep permanent failures visible for review.
  • Use the usage endpoint’s concurrency remaining and reset values to pace work. ScreenshotOne states that bulk requests use the same one-minute request bucket as regular screenshot requests, so bulk capture should not be treated as unlimited throughput.
  • Make repeat runs safe: avoid creating confusing duplicate files when a scheduled job is restarted or retried.

Store outputs deliberately

Depending on the endpoint response and your workflow, store returned screenshot links or download image files into a destination you control. Verify how long provider-hosted links remain usable, who can access them, and whether your storage policy meets the needs of the captured content. The cited ScreenshotOne documentation supports bulk processing and operational guidance; it does not prescribe a specific daily scheduler or storage destination.

ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API and an MCP server for AI agents. Its bulk capture accepts up to 100 URLs per call; you can pair it with your own daily scheduler and queue. Cookie banners are accepted and removed before capture, along with known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses indicate the page verdict and billing status. The MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Use your own target URL in place of https://stripe.com. The endpoint can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF, with capture options described in the docs. For multiple daily URLs, call the endpoint for each queued URL or use the bulk capture option, then store outputs in your chosen destination.

For an API workflow in Python or Node.js, the same endpoint can be called directly. These single-URL examples use the target URL shown in the cURL example:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

ScreenshotNeo’s free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for free.

Common failures and practical fixes

  • The trigger runs but some URLs have no images: inspect per-URL results, not just the scheduler’s run status. Retry failed requests and retain a list of unresolved URLs.
  • A run stalls or exceeds available request capacity: reduce batch size or pace requests using the provider’s current usage and concurrency information. ScreenshotOne says its bulk requests share the regular one-minute request bucket.
  • The screenshot shows a login screen or consent overlay: check whether the page requires authentication or a consent interaction, and configure the capture workflow accordingly. Verify results on representative pages because rendering can vary by site.
  • The page looks incomplete: dynamic content and lazy-loaded images may need appropriate waits or rendering options. Test the actual page and chosen settings; do not assume a successful HTTP response means the visual result is complete.
  • Files are missing from the expected folder: inspect each integration step, account connection, destination permissions, and current naming or retention settings. A successful capture and successful file delivery are separate workflow outcomes.
  • A restart creates duplicate work: use durable job state and make retries idempotent, so the workflow can determine which URLs already completed.

Performance, cost, and evidence considerations

Estimate workload from the number of URLs multiplied by the frequency of capture, then compare it with the chosen plan’s current quota and request limits. Large lists should be paced, since ScreenshotOne says bulk calls share the ordinary one-minute request bucket. No current vendor prices, common-volume benchmarks, or retention guarantees are established by the cited product documentation here; check current account terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to keep my computer running for daily screenshots?

Not if the schedule and capture workflow run in a managed service or on infrastructure that remains available. A script scheduled only on your own computer depends on that computer and its network being on at the scheduled time.

Can I use a CSV or spreadsheet instead of entering URLs one by one?

Yes. Urlbox CaptureDeck describes CSV import and pasted URL lists, and Urlbox documentation mentions URL lists from Google Sheets and Airtable. For a custom API workflow, read the list from your own file or data store.

Does a bulk screenshot API automatically run every day?

Not necessarily. ScreenshotOne’s cited bulk endpoint documentation describes multi-URL capture; it does not specify a built-in daily scheduler. Add a separate scheduled trigger.
