If the stories are aimed at children, set the audience accurately as Made for Kids; that disables live chat and reminder notifications.
What a 24/7 storytime schedule can—and cannot—do
“24/7” can mean one stream intended to stay live continuously, or a calendar of recurring scheduled streams. YouTube’s scheduling tools create an upcoming livestream event; they do not by themselves play a playlist, transmit a feed, or guarantee that separate sessions will hand off without interruption. The official guidance cited here does not establish an automated recurring schedule that keeps a channel continuously live.

A scheduled stream may appear to subscribers as upcoming, and eligible viewers can opt in to a start notification. However, Made for Kids streams do not offer reminder notifications, so do not rely on that feature for a children’s storytime event. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
Check eligibility and choose how to send the program
- Your channel must be verified and have no livestream restrictions within the preceding 90 days. YouTube states that creators must be at least 16 years old to livestream. See YouTube’s live streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
- Choose a supported source: mobile, webcam, encoder, or console. The best fit depends on how you will play or present the stories and keep the source connected; YouTube does not benchmark these methods for long-running storytime use.
- Decide whether you need a single continuous event or separate sessions. If replay preservation matters, shorter sessions and a local recording are the safer design.
Schedule a storytime livestream in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room: In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live.
- Create the event: Enter the stream title, description, privacy, and other event details. Choose the option to schedule for a later date and time, then confirm the scheduled stream’s details before publishing the schedule.
- Set the audience accurately: Choose whether the stream is Made for Kids. For storytime deliberately directed at children, YouTube says stories and other subject matter reflecting an intent to target children are likely Made for Kids. Creators are responsible for making the audience designation; consult YouTube’s guidance on determining whether content is Made for Kids if uncertain.
- Connect your chosen source: Use the mobile, webcam, encoder, or console workflow for the feed. Scheduling alone does not start a source or keep it transmitting.
- Test the event and plan supervision: Confirm the correct time, privacy, audience setting, and feed before the scheduled start. YouTube’s cited material does not promise an unattended, seamless transition between scheduled events.

Plan sessions around YouTube’s archive and DVR limits
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. A stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all; DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable for very long streams. If you need a replay, divide the program into sessions shorter than 12 hours and make a local recording as a backup. These are practical precautions based on YouTube’s stated limits, not a schedule YouTube requires.
See YouTube’s archive guidance and its DVR guidance. A local recording protects your copy, but does not guarantee a seamless public handoff or a single persistent live event.

What Made for Kids changes on a livestream
When a livestream is Made for Kids, live chat, chat donations, and reminder notifications are unavailable. Comments and personalized ads are also restricted or disabled; contextual ads may still appear. Set the audience for the actual content rather than choosing a setting to preserve interaction features. Rights and practical continuity checks
- Use stories, narration, music, illustrations, and recordings you have permission to stream and archive. Do not assume a particular edition or recording is public domain without checking its status for the relevant territory.
- Keep a local copy if the replay matters, especially when a session approaches the 12-hour boundary.
- Before each session, check that the source is connected and transmitting and that the scheduled event has the intended privacy and audience settings.
- Plan how an operator will respond if the source or connection stops. The official scheduling guidance does not promise unattended monitoring or automatic handoffs.
Troubleshooting common scheduling problems
The channel cannot start a livestream
Check that the channel is verified and has no livestream restriction within the preceding 90 days, and that the creator meets YouTube’s stated minimum age of 16. Review YouTube’s live streaming requirements.

The event is scheduled, but no story is playing
A scheduled event is not the program source. Start the chosen mobile, webcam, encoder, or console feed and verify that it is reaching Live Control Room.
The replay is missing or incomplete
If a stream exceeded 12 hours, YouTube may not capture it; DVR may also be limited on very long streams. For future sessions, keep them under 12 hours and save a local recording.

Children cannot use chat or get a start reminder
Those features are disabled for Made for Kids livestreams. Keep the audience designation accurate and communicate the schedule through suitable channels outside those unavailable stream features.
