Before you schedule: check channel eligibility
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; the minimum age for livestreaming is 16. Check that live streaming is enabled on the account before preparing the event. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

1. Schedule the YouTube Live event

In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream.

Choose whether to reuse prior settings or create a new stream. Set the event title, description, audience, privacy and scheduled start time, then save.

Copy the event’s watch URL if you want to promote it or share it so viewers can set reminders. Scheduling creates the event page; it does not start your FFmpeg playlist.

2. Prepare and test the FFmpeg playlist
Use concat only when the files are compatible
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer reads a text script containing one file directive per media file and plays the listed files in sequence. The files need matching stream layouts, codecs and time bases. If they differ, you may need to preprocess or re-encode them, or use a different playback workflow rather than assuming one concat command will work unchanged.
Paths and escaping in the script depend on your operating system and FFmpeg build. Consult the FFmpeg documentation for the concat demuxer’s script syntax and constraints. Incorrect duration metadata can cause timestamp problems, gaps or artifacts.
Test transitions and looping behavior

Inspect the files and play the full sequence locally before the event.

Check every transition for gaps, abrupt audio changes, frozen frames or timestamp issues.

If the playlist must repeat, test the installed FFmpeg version’s looping behavior, including the transition from the final file back to the first. Do not assume a loop option behaves identically across builds or input formats.

If the files have different stream layouts or codecs, resolve that incompatibility before the live run. The concat demuxer’s documented requirements do not make unlike files compatible automatically.
There is no single reliable copy-and-paste command for every operating system, FFmpeg build, media format and looping requirement. Confirm the installed build and inputs, then test the exact command and playlist you intend to use.
3. Connect FFmpeg to the scheduled event

Open the scheduled event in YouTube Live Control Room and retrieve its encoder server URL and stream key.

Configure FFmpeg to send a format and protocol accepted by the event’s stream key. Follow YouTube’s encoder instructions for the event rather than reusing an unverified URL or key from another setup.

Start FFmpeg early enough for YouTube to receive the feed. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room, check the picture and audio, then click Go live to start the scheduled event.

The stream key is a secret credential: YouTube uses it to route and accept the encoder feed. Do not expose it in a public script, repository, screenshot or log excerpt. If it is compromised, reset it in Live Control Room. Details are in Manage live stream settings.
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on that behavior to archive a continuous playlist that runs 12 hours or longer; plan separately if you need a recording.
4. Validate Indian-language audio, subtitles and on-screen text
The scheduling and encoder connection are not language-specific, but that does not establish that a particular Indian script, font, subtitle encoding or automatic-caption language will render correctly. First identify how the language reaches viewers: as spoken audio, a separate caption or subtitle track, or text burned into the video.

Play the actual media through the full path you will use for broadcast. Check that script glyphs and shaping, diacritics, line breaks and timing look right on the preview and on a viewer-facing playback page.

Listen for clear, intelligible audio and confirm that the intended language track is present throughout the playlist.

Burned-in text is part of the picture and normally cannot be toggled off. A caption track can be toggled where the playback route supports it. Choose based on readability, accessibility and the playback you have tested.

YouTube documents a live-caption workflow using embedded EIA 608/CEA 708 captions. That method supports up to four language tracks in the standard, while YouTube currently supports one track for that method. This does not confirm support for a particular Indian language or establish that it is the only caption route. See YouTube’s live caption requirements.

Do not assume automatic captions or a font will handle your script correctly. The actual media, script and playback combination needs to be checked before the scheduled broadcast.
5. Check upload capacity, preview and stream health
Leave upload headroom
YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. Measure upload capacity, not just download speed, and account for other people or devices using the connection and any additional stream. Test under conditions similar to the event. YouTube’s recommendations are in Streaming tips.
Start the encoder ahead of the event
YouTube recommends setting up encoders at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Use that lead time to confirm FFmpeg is sending, review the preview, check the event from the channel or watch page, and monitor stream health. Those are YouTube’s recommendations, not a guarantee that every connection or file will work.
Choose latency for the viewing experience
Latency is the delay between capture and playback. Lower latency can increase buffering, so use it when interaction needs a faster response and test stability for the audience’s network conditions. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.

Common problems and fixes

Copyright and monetization checks
Before broadcasting, make sure you have the rights needed to livestream every video, song, recording and visual in the playlist. Scheduling an event or using FFmpeg does not grant permission to rebroadcast content. Also consider YouTube’s reused-content and monetization rules: permission to use material and eligibility to monetize a channel are separate questions. Review the rights and platform policies that apply to your content before you go live.
