To show a sequence of lessons as a YouTube livestream during Indian school hours, schedule a live event in YouTube Studio and separately send it a video feed from streaming software such as OBS Studio. OBS’s VLC Video source can play local lesson files in order and loop them. Scheduling a YouTube channel playlist alone does not turn its videos into a livestream.
What you are scheduling—and what you are not
A scheduled YouTube Live event creates a viewer-facing event and watch page. An encoder such as OBS sends the actual video feed to that event using YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. The Live Streaming API describes each broadcast as representing one YouTube video, not a queue of playlist items. YouTube’s guide to creating an encoder stream explains the event workflow at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder; the API reference is at LiveBroadcasts.

This method is for local lesson files played through OBS. YouTube also lets you schedule an uploaded video for publication, but that is not a live broadcast receiving an encoder feed. See Schedule video publish time for that separate workflow.

Before you set up the first class
Make sure the channel can livestream
YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have a livestreaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable access well before the first lesson. Check Get started with live streaming.

Prepare the lesson files and playback order
Place the authorized video files in the order the class should see them. OBS’s VLC Video source supports multiple local files, sequential playback rather than shuffle, and looping; VLC must be installed for the source to work. Follow the OBS instructions in Media Sources. Loop only if the school timetable calls for the sequence to repeat.
Choose access and test the viewing route
Decide whether the event should be public, private, or unlisted, based on the intended audience and the school’s access needs. Before class, check that the event page is reachable by the people who need it. YouTube’s encoder guide describes the event setup and privacy choices: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Create a new event or reuse prior settings. Enter the title and other event details, including the intended date and time, audience information, and privacy setting.
-
Compare the date and time displayed in Studio with the school’s intended local timetable in India before saving. The available guidance does not establish every current timezone control in Studio, so do not assume the displayed time has been converted as you expect.
-
Save the event and check its watch page. Share the event link with the intended viewers. An upcoming event can appear to viewers, who may opt into a reminder.

Send the lesson playlist from OBS
-
Install VLC, then open OBS and add a VLC Video source to the scene that will be streamed.
-
Add the local lesson files to the source’s playlist in the intended teaching order. Confirm the list is sequential rather than shuffled.
-
Enable the source’s loop option only if you want the playlist to repeat. Test the transition between files and confirm that both picture and sound work.
-
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open the scheduled event and obtain its stream URL and stream key. Enter those in OBS’s stream settings so OBS sends its output to that event. Treat the stream key like a password; do not share it publicly.

Run a preflight before the school day
-
Allow setup time: YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
-
Check the preview and stream health: Confirm the expected video and audio appear in the Live Control Room, and verify the event page can be opened through the route students will use.

Leave network headroom: YouTube recommends upload bandwidth 20% above the total stream bitrate. This is a platform recommendation, not a guarantee that a particular connection will remain stable.
-
Monitor the actual lesson feed: Check sound and motion, not just whether OBS says it is streaming. YouTube’s operational advice is in YouTube live streaming tips and Streaming tips.
Plan for the end of the stream and a replay
Stop the encoder after the event. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup if you need a dependable replay. See Archive live streams.

What this setup will not automate
The workflow schedules a YouTube event and plays a local playlist through OBS. The documented OBS media-source controls cover playback, not a school-bell timetable scheduler. Do not assume YouTube or the VLC source will automatically start OBS, switch to a different lesson at each bell, or create a separate event for every class. If you need those actions unattended, you will need an automation layer and should confirm that it supports the exact current OBS and YouTube workflow before relying on it.
For a fixed timetable, decide whether the stream should run continuously with a playlist or whether each lesson needs its own event. Test the full start, playback, and stop sequence on the actual school connection and viewer devices before using it with students.
