How to Schedule a YouTube Livestream for a 24/7 Indian Classical Music Playlist

You can schedule a YouTube live event, but YouTube Studio does not document a way to schedule a playlist itself as an automatically looping live source. The scheduled event creates the upcoming watch page and reminder; an encoder or streaming service must send the continuous audio/video program to it. For a 24/7 Indian classical music channel, set up the event in YouTube Studio, connect a continuous source using the stream URL and key, and clear the rights for every recording before going live.

What YouTube scheduling does—and does not do

A scheduled livestream is a YouTube event that viewers can find in advance and choose to be reminded about. It is not the program source. YouTube’s documented workflow has an encoder send a live audio/video feed to the event; Studio’s scheduling steps do not describe choosing a YouTube playlist and having it loop indefinitely as a live broadcast. See YouTube Help: Stream using an encoder and YouTube Help: Create a live stream with an encoder.

That means you need two pieces: a scheduled event on YouTube and a system that plays and transmits the music continuously. That system might be encoder software on a computer, a dedicated hardware encoder, or a cloud service that accepts uploaded videos and streams them. Plan how the program will continue through any stream-session changes; a scheduled event alone does not provide 24/7 playback.

Before you schedule: channel access and music rights

Confirm the channel can livestream

Make sure the channel is eligible to livestream and that the account you use has permission to manage its live events. YouTube’s encoder setup and streaming guidance is available in its encoder help. Check the current requirements in Studio before planning a launch, since YouTube’s interface and rules can change.

Clear the recordings, not just the compositions

“Classical,” “traditional,” or “available on YouTube” does not automatically mean a recording is cleared for rebroadcast. Rights in a composition and rights in a particular performance or recording can differ. You are responsible for obtaining the rights needed to use live content on YouTube, including applicable rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other participants. YouTube states that live content must have the necessary rights for exploitation on its services, including music licensing rights; see YouTube Help: Livestream terms and conditions.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It can replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you, interrupt or terminate the broadcast if the content continues, or impose consequences after a strike. Even when you have a licence, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid interruptions. See YouTube Help: Content ID claims on live streams. For questions about Indian law or a specific raga, composition, performance, or recording, get qualified rights advice; the platform guidance does not settle those questions.

Schedule the YouTube live event

  1. Open the live dashboard: In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live, then Manage.
  2. Create the event: Choose Schedule Stream. Create a new stream or reuse prior settings, then enter the title, description, visibility, and other event details appropriate to the broadcast.
  3. Set the event timing and audience details: Complete the available scheduling fields and save the event. A scheduled stream can appear as upcoming, where viewers may opt into a reminder. Review the event page after saving to confirm the displayed details.
  4. Get the connection details: In the scheduled stream or Live Control Room, locate the YouTube stream URL and stream key. Copy them into the corresponding fields in your encoder or streaming service.
  5. Protect the stream key: Treat it like a password; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your event. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the new key.
  6. Start and verify the feed: Start the encoder and check that its preview appears in Live Control Room. Depending on the workflow, you may also need to click Go live. Confirm the correct audio and video before relying on the scheduled event.

YouTube’s interface labels may change. Follow the controls shown for the current event and verify that the encoder preview is reaching the intended scheduled stream before making it public. Official setup details are in YouTube’s encoder instructions and its encoder livestream setup guide.

Choose a way to keep the music playing and the feed running

For uninterrupted playback, compare the actual source and operating plan—not just the event scheduler. Consider compatibility with your audio/video source and YouTube, whether it can run unattended, what happens after a dropped connection, whether it supports a local recording, whether you can test failover, and the total operating cost. YouTube documents software encoders and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events; hardware is an option, not a universal requirement. Its guidance does not establish a best model or current India availability.

Software encoder on a computer

Encoder software can send the feed to YouTube, but the computer and connection running it must remain available for the broadcast. Build a playlist or playback workflow that can continue unattended, test the audio path and restart behavior, and decide what happens if the computer, power, or internet connection fails. A second encoder can be part of a failover plan, but test it in advance rather than assuming it will take over successfully.

Dedicated hardware encoder

A hardware encoder may suit a higher-production setup or a dedicated installation. Before buying, check YouTube compatibility, supported input and output formats, reliability, and how backup or failover will work. The official guidance cited here does not compare models, prices, or regional availability, so it cannot support a product ranking.

Cloud playback for uploaded recordings

If your program consists of prerecorded music videos and you want the broadcast to continue without leaving a computer on at home, a cloud service can run the stream instead. StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a camera feed. See StreamNeo for details.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, the setup is: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required; it is one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. Start your free day with StreamNeo.

Test and monitor before leaving a stream unattended

  • Preview the event: Confirm the scheduled event and encoder feed are connected in Live Control Room before viewers arrive.
  • Check the complete audio path: Listen for silence, clipping, abrupt transitions, and unexpected gaps between playlist items. Verify that the intended music and visuals are being sent.
  • Test unattended behavior: Check that playback advances or loops as intended, and establish what happens after a player, encoder, computer, or network interruption.
  • Plan failover: If you use a backup encoder or another recovery method, test the handoff before depending on it. YouTube recommends advance setup and testing, preview checks, access checks, audio/video monitoring, and failover testing when a backup encoder is used. See YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
  • Keep a local recording when needed: Check that the file is complete and usable, rather than assuming the YouTube archive is your only copy.

Plan around YouTube’s archive limit

YouTube says livestreams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24-hour broadcast therefore is not a dependable way to create a complete YouTube archive. If preserving the program matters, record it locally and plan retention; you can also decide whether to divide the broadcast into shorter sessions. See YouTube Help: Archive live streams.

Common problems and what to check

The event is scheduled, but nothing is playing

The event page does not supply the music feed. Start the encoder or cloud playback service, confirm it is using the event’s stream URL and key, then check for a preview in Live Control Room. Use Go live there if the workflow requires it.

The encoder preview does not appear

Check that the stream URL and key were copied correctly and that the key belongs to the scheduled event. Confirm that the encoder is started and that the channel account has the necessary access. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace it in the encoder.

YouTube interrupts or replaces the music broadcast

Check Live Control Room alerts and the status of the recordings’ rights. A licence does not necessarily prevent automated interruption: ask the relevant rights holder whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting. Do not respond by repeatedly restarting material you are not cleared to use.

The stream stops when nobody is at the computer

A local encoder depends on the computer, power, playback process, and internet connection continuing to work. Test unattended playback and recovery, and plan backup or use a cloud streaming service if the broadcast must continue while your home equipment is off.

The 24-hour session is missing from the archive

Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube. Use a local recording and retention plan if you need a complete archive, rather than relying on one continuous session to produce it.

Costs and operating trade-offs

A do-it-yourself setup may use encoder software and equipment you already have, but it still depends on a computer and a stable connection being available throughout the broadcast. Hardware can add purchase and maintenance costs; compare those with the reliability and backup needs of your setup. The official YouTube material cited here does not establish specific encoder model prices.
