You can schedule a YouTube Live event in advance, but YouTube Studio does not provide a setting that repeats one event every day or starts your encoder on a daily timer. For a daily broadcast, you need both recurring events—created manually or through the YouTube API—and a separate process that starts an encoder and sends video at each scheduled time. YouTube’s auto-start setting only starts the broadcast after an encoder begins sending a feed.
What “start automatically every day” means on YouTube
There are two separate jobs: creating an upcoming YouTube event for each day, and getting a video feed to YouTube at the right time. YouTube Studio can schedule an event and can respond to an incoming encoder feed with auto-start. It does not, on its own, create a daily recurrence or turn on a computer, open streaming software, or play a file on a schedule.
YouTube Help describes the encoder setting this way: “When these settings are on, you can start or stop streaming from your encoder.” That is encoder-triggered behavior, not a daily timer. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings.
Before you schedule a daily stream
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s general guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions for current requirements.
- Prepare a feed source. An encoder—software or hardware—must send video and audio to YouTube. A scheduled event does not supply its own media feed.
- Protect the stream key. The key lets an encoder connect to your YouTube stream. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Check rights and channel rules. A daily schedule does not grant permission to rebroadcast music, video, or other material. Use content you own or are authorized to stream, and follow YouTube’s applicable live-stream and channel policies.
Schedule an individual YouTube Live event in Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live.
- Choose Manage, then schedule a stream. Set its title, description, visibility, date, and start time, and review the audience and other event details.
- If you use Reuse settings, inspect the copied metadata, stream key, and auto-start or auto-stop choices. Reused settings can carry those forward; do not assume the copied details are correct for the new event.
- In your encoder, enter the YouTube stream URL and the stream key for the intended stream. Start the encoder feed when you are ready to broadcast.
- Turn on auto-start if you want YouTube to begin the broadcast when the encoder starts sending content. Auto-stop can stop the broadcast after the encoder stops, depending on the setting and platform behavior.
Scheduling can make an event visible as upcoming, so viewers may be able to visit its watch page and opt into a notification before it begins. See YouTube’s guidance on scheduling a live stream.

How to make the event happen every day
Option 1: Schedule each day manually
Create a separate Studio event for each date. This is the most direct no-code approach, but it requires you to create and maintain the individual events and ensure the encoder feed starts for each one.
- Use the Studio scheduling steps above to create an event for the first date.
- Create another event for each following date, checking its time zone, visibility, metadata, and stream settings.
- Set a reminder or use an external calendar or scheduler to start the encoder at each event’s planned time. The reminder or scheduler is separate from YouTube Studio.
- Confirm each event is accessible to its intended audience and that the encoder is sending the right feed.
Option 2: Create recurring broadcasts through the YouTube API
YouTube’s API documentation describes a recurring-event pattern using multiple broadcast resources bound to a stream. An authorized API integration or operator must create and manage the broadcasts, bind them to the stream, and arrange for an encoder to send the feed for each occurrence. This is a developer workflow, not a recurring-event option in Studio’s standard scheduling interface. Review the YouTube Live Streaming API broadcast documentation and the stream documentation before building an integration.

Whichever method creates the events, a separate scheduler or operator still needs to start the encoder and make sure it is transmitting. API authorization, stream-key security, updates to event details, and monitoring become ongoing maintenance tasks.
| Approach | Creating and updating events | Upcoming pages and reminders | Starting the encoder | Ongoing work |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Manual Studio scheduling | Create and revise each event in Studio. | Each scheduled event can appear as upcoming and allow viewers to opt into notifications. | Requires an operator or separate scheduler to start and send the feed. | Maintain event details and verify the feed for each occurrence. |
| API-managed broadcasts | An authorized integration creates multiple broadcasts and binds them to a stream. | Set up and verify the audience-facing event details for each broadcast. | Still requires an encoder workflow that sends a feed at the planned time. | Maintain API authorization, event logic, stream-key security, and monitoring. |
Test and monitor before relying on an unattended schedule
Do not assume that a scheduled start guarantees a successful broadcast. YouTube advises setting up in advance, checking the preview, testing comparable audio and movement, monitoring stream health, and confirming that the event is accessible. Stop the encoder after the event when appropriate. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and recommendations and YouTube’s live control room guidance.

Common problems and fixes
The event is scheduled, but the broadcast does not go live
A scheduled time does not start the encoder. Start the encoder or verify that your separate scheduler launched it and that it is sending video to the correct YouTube stream.
The encoder is sending, but the scheduled event is not the one going live
Check the encoder’s selected stream key and the event’s stream settings. If you reused settings, review the copied key and metadata rather than assuming they match the intended event.

Auto-start is enabled, but nothing happens at the planned time
Auto-start responds to an incoming encoder feed; it does not launch the encoder or act as a daily timer. Confirm the encoder has started and is transmitting.
Live streaming is unavailable for the channel
Check channel verification and any live-streaming restrictions. If this is the first time enabling live streaming, allow for YouTube’s stated activation window of up to 24 hours.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a YouTube channel that keeps uploaded videos playing around the clock, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. The stream keeps the quality you uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly: $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded video, not a live camera feed. See StreamNeo, then start your free day.
Choose the workflow that matches your schedule
For a finite run of daily events, create each event in Studio and arrange a separate encoder start for each one. For a developer-managed recurrence, use the API pattern of multiple broadcasts bound to a stream, while still supplying and monitoring the encoder feed. Neither Studio scheduling nor auto-start alone makes a complete unattended daily system.
