To rotate prerecorded devotional videos during an Indian festival, schedule a YouTube Live event in YouTube Studio, then use an encoder such as OBS Studio to play an authorized playlist into that event. Scheduling creates the upcoming event and watch page; it does not turn an ordinary YouTube playlist into a live broadcast.
Before you schedule: check eligibility, rights and timing
Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its getting-started guidance also says streamers must be at least 16. Check the current requirements and choose the workflow that matches your setup on YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started page.

Clear every video and audio asset
Permission to broadcast a devotional song, recording, temple video or film excerpt is separate from eligibility to livestream. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for each video and its audio, including the underlying music where relevant. YouTube requires live content to comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; a devotional subject does not by itself establish that an asset is cleared.
Choose the festival date and audience time zone
India has regional and community-specific observances, and dates may vary by year. Verify the particular observance for the year and the audience you intend to reach. State the time zone explicitly in the event description and any announcement. YouTube’s live upload schedule tips recommend considering notable dates such as local or global holidays and communicating a sustainable schedule.

Choose the broadcast method

For prerecorded devotional videos in a chosen order, an encoder workflow is the relevant option. YouTube describes its available approaches on the live-streaming getting-started page.
Build the playlist in OBS
- Install VLC and check its architecture. OBS’s VLC Video source appears only when VLC is installed. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC as well.
- Add the playlist source. In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene, then add the local media files in the order you want them played. OBS documents the source and its options in its Media Sources guide, published January 11, 2022.
- Set the rotation behavior. Enable Loop Playlist if playback should restart at the first file after the last one. Leave Shuffle Playlist off for a deliberate festival sequence; shuffle is a separate control and is off by default.
- Check the scene and sequence. Preview the scene and confirm the order, picture and audio. Run a short test before relying on the setup for an extended event. OBS’s source overview explains how sources are added to scenes: OBS Sources Guide.
Keep the files available to OBS and the computer powered on, connected to the internet and running the encoder for the duration of this do-it-yourself broadcast. The setup does not establish backup power, backup internet or uninterrupted playback.

Create and schedule the YouTube Live event
- Open Live Control Room in YouTube Studio and create a live event. YouTube’s live stream settings guide covers creating and managing scheduled stream settings.
- Enter the event details. Add a clear title and description, then set the intended date and start time. Include the time zone so viewers know when the broadcast begins.
- Review stream settings and key. You can reuse stream settings to reduce repeated setup, but review the copied event metadata and stream key before each new event. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to the event.
- Schedule the event early enough to promote it. A scheduled stream may appear to subscribers as upcoming, and viewers can choose Notify me. This gives interested viewers a way to opt in; it does not guarantee that every subscriber will receive or see a notification.
- Start the encoder when ready. Connect OBS to the event using the stream settings and key, verify the preview and audio, then start streaming. Check the current YouTube and OBS interfaces if labels or controls have changed.
Test the full festival setup
- Confirm the event date, start time and time zone against the intended observance and audience.
- Verify the playlist order and whether looping is enabled; confirm shuffle is off if order matters.
- Listen for audio problems and check that the intended scene is visible in the YouTube preview.
- Make sure the stream key belongs to the scheduled event and has not been copied incorrectly.
- Consider your computer, power and internet arrangements for the full broadcast. No particular backup arrangement or minimum connection capacity is established here, so assess these against your files and setup.
After the stream: redirect viewers if eligible
YouTube Live Redirect is a separate feature that can send viewers to a Premiere or another live stream when the current event ends; it does not rotate videos within the stream. YouTube currently says creators sending a redirect need more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. See YouTube’s Live Redirect eligibility and setup guide.

- VLC Video is missing in OBS: install VLC, then check that VLC and OBS have matching architectures. OBS specifically notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC for this source.
- The playlist stops at the last file: enable Loop Playlist if you want it to restart. Looping and shuffling are independent controls.
- Videos play in an unexpected order: turn off Shuffle Playlist and review the order of files in the VLC Video source.
- The event time looks wrong to viewers: confirm the festival date for the relevant year and state the audience time zone in the description and announcements.
- The event is scheduled but no video is playing: scheduling alone creates the event, not the playlist broadcast. Check that OBS is running, the correct scene and media source are active, and the encoder is connected to the right event.
- A stream key or copied settings cause confusion: reopen the event’s stream settings and verify the key and metadata rather than assuming reused settings are correct.
- A video or song raises a rights concern: do not assume that religious or devotional content is automatically free to broadcast. Confirm permissions for the specific recording and underlying music before going live.
