To run prerecorded videos as a continuous YouTube broadcast on an Indian public holiday, schedule two things: the live event in YouTube Studio and the video feed in an encoder or cloud playout service. Scheduling a YouTube event alone does not make a regular playlist play live or loop. First choose the holiday calendar that applies to your audience, then test the event and feed together before the date.
What you need to schedule
A 24/7 playlist broadcast has two separate parts:
- The YouTube live event: the scheduled broadcast page viewers can open. You create and configure it in YouTube Studio.
- The playout feed: the continuous audio and video supplied by an encoder or cloud service. This is what plays your prerecorded videos in order and, if configured, loops them.
The event can be scheduled without a working feed, so scheduling it does not start playback. Set both schedules for the intended start and end, and check the playout service’s timezone, playlist loop, and end-date behavior rather than assuming defaults.

Prepare the channel, videos, and schedule
Check YouTube live access early
YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and meet YouTube’s minimum age requirement of 16 for live streaming. Initial access activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable and confirm it well before the holiday: YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

Use videos and audio you have permission to stream. Put the files in the intended order and confirm whether the playout tool will loop the list, stop after a single pass, or stop at a configured end time. Rights clearance matters even when the videos are prerecorded: a scheduled live broadcast is still subject to YouTube’s applicable copyright rules.

Choose a local encoder or cloud playout
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming from a computer; dedicated hardware is optional. YouTube Help says, “For higher production value events, we recommend professional-grade hardware encoders.” That is a recommendation for higher-production events, not a requirement for every stream. A local setup depends on the computer or encoder, power, and internet connection remaining available. A cloud playout service can run the feed remotely, but its supported features, plan requirements, and duration limits are specific to the provider.
Choose the correct holiday calendar
“Public holiday in India” does not identify one universal closure calendar. Use the central, state or Union Territory, or organization-specific calendar that matches the intended audience. The National Portal of India provides central and state/UT calendar scopes; it says central holidays follow a circular issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions: National Portal of India: Holiday Calendar. Confirm the year and date against the calendar relevant to your viewers before scheduling.

For example, India Post’s All India 2026 list gives Republic Day as 26 January, Independence Day as 15 August, Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday as 2 October, Dussehra as 20 October, Diwali as 8 November, and Guru Nanak’s Birthday as 24 November. It also provides separate postal-circle listings: India Post: Holidays List – 2026. The Supreme Court’s institutional 2026 calendar instead lists Dussehra holidays from 19–24 October and Diwali holidays from 9–14 November. Those are institutional holiday periods, not replacements for the India Post All India list: Supreme Court of India: Calendar.
Schedule and test the YouTube broadcast
- Enable live streaming: verify the channel and enable live access in advance. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow for YouTube’s stated activation lead time.
- Create the event in YouTube Studio: schedule the broadcast for the intended holiday start and set its visibility to public or unlisted as appropriate. Use the correct title, description, and start time for your audience.
- Connect the playout source: configure your encoder or cloud service to send the prerecorded playlist to the scheduled YouTube event. Use the stream key and event details shown by YouTube, and keep the key private.
- Match schedules and playback: set the playout start and end to match the event, verify the scheduler timezone, and check the playlist order, loop setting, and end behavior. The exact controls vary by provider.
- Run a private test: before the holiday, send a test feed and confirm that it appears in the Live Control Room preview. Check picture, sound, playlist transitions, and playback from a separate viewer device. Google’s live-stream guide recommends testing the full setup privately in YouTube Studio: Google: Live Streaming Guide.
- Monitor the live start: check the preview and audio/video as the event begins, then monitor the stream during the broadcast. YouTube’s computer-streaming tips recommend setting up and testing in advance and continuously monitoring the stream: YouTube Help: YouTube live streaming tips – Computer.
- Decide what happens to the archive: YouTube and Google’s guide describe publishing a live archive and creating a live archive playlist. If viewers should be able to replay the broadcast, check the archive settings and playlist arrangement after the event.

Troubleshoot before the holiday
- The event exists but shows no video: the YouTube event and the playout feed are separate. Start the encoder or cloud playout, check its YouTube destination and stream key, and confirm feed arrival in Live Control Room.
- The stream stops after one playlist pass: check the playout service’s loop or repeat setting. Do not assume a normal YouTube playlist repeats as a live feed.
- The event starts at the wrong time: compare the YouTube event time with the playout scheduler’s timezone and start setting. Confirm both in a private test.
- The feed starts but audio or picture is missing: inspect the Live Control Room preview and test the actual files and transitions before making the event public.
- Live streaming is unavailable: recheck channel verification, recent live restrictions, age eligibility, and whether first-time activation has completed.
- A cloud provider refuses the duration or schedule: check the provider’s current plan requirements and maximum duration, then split or reschedule the broadcast only if that provider supports the intended arrangement.
