The official YouTube workflows described here do not provide a native scheduler that automatically turns a playlist into a continuous 24/7 livestream. For match-day highlights, choose scheduled video releases if viewers should watch separate clips at set times; choose a scheduled encoder stream if you have the rights-cleared footage and need continuous live playback.
Choose the right match-day workflow
| What you want viewers to see | Use this workflow | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Separate highlights released at specific match-day times | Schedule each video in YouTube Studio and set its date, time, and time zone. YouTube’s scheduled video publishing help | Scheduling a video does not automatically add it to a continuous livestream. |
| A continuous 24/7 live channel playing a prepared feed | Schedule a YouTube livestream and send it from an encoder using YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s livestream setup help | YouTube’s documented scheduling workflow does not itself build or sequence a playlist into a continuous feed. |
These are distinct workflows. You can use both: publish individual clips on a match-day calendar and separately run a live feed, provided you have permission for every clip and the way it is used.

Before scheduling cricket highlights, confirm the rights
Do not assume that a clip is safe to stream because it is available online, credited, or already published elsewhere. YouTube says it scans all livestreams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. A stream may be interrupted or terminated if copyrighted material is identified. YouTube: Copyright issues with live streams
If you have a licence, confirm that it covers the exact footage, territory, and use you intend—especially continuous live playback and any archive that remains available afterward. YouTube notes that a rights owner may need to add a channel to its Content ID allowlist; a licence by itself does not ensure an uninterrupted stream if the channel is not allowlisted. The available guidance does not identify the rights holder or licensing terms for any particular Indian cricket competition or highlights package.

YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to use live content on Google services, including music rights, and to comply with applicable laws. Schedule a YouTube livestream for continuous playback
- Create the scheduled event: In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage, then schedule a stream. You can reuse a previous stream’s settings or create new settings. Follow YouTube’s current encoder setup instructions if the labels differ in your Studio view.
- Set the event details: Enter the title, description, visibility, and scheduled start time appropriate for the match-day programme. Use a time zone your audience understands and state the schedule clearly in the description or channel updates.
- Connect the encoder: Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into your encoder. Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Configure the encoder to send the prepared programme, then start it when the scheduled stream is ready. YouTube’s help explains the connection; it does not prescribe a single encoder or a universal computer specification.
- Check the event before promotion: Confirm that the encoder is connected and that the stream preview and scheduled event are the ones you intend to use. YouTube says scheduled streams can be promoted and viewers can receive reminders. Share the event link and communicate any match-day timing changes.
- Manage the end and archive: When the programme is finished, stop the encoder and check the resulting live archive in YouTube Studio. YouTube says livestream archives are uploaded by default; streams under 12 hours are automatically archived according to its encoder setup help. YouTube encoder setup Organize completed archives and separately published clips into playlists if that helps viewers find them.
A scheduled start time is not a substitute for an operating encoder feed: the encoder must send the programme to YouTube. Plan who will monitor the feed and respond if it disconnects, and make changes to the event or programming visible to viewers.

Schedule individual highlights as match-day releases
- In YouTube Studio, upload the rights-cleared highlight video and complete its title, description, and other publishing details.
- In the visibility or scheduling controls, choose Schedule, then select the publication date, time, and time zone. YouTube documents these controls for scheduling an individual video. YouTube scheduled video publishing
- Repeat for each planned release. Use a calendar that accounts for match timing and processing or review time, and tell viewers when the next highlight is expected.
- After publication, add the videos to a playlist to group them by match, date, or competition. This organization does not turn the playlist into a scheduled livestream.
Keep the match-day schedule understandable and sustainable
- Distinguish live coverage from recorded highlights in titles and descriptions so viewers know what they are opening.
- Give times with a named time zone, particularly when viewers are in different regions, and update channel communications if a match or release time changes.
- Set a cadence your team can maintain. YouTube recommends clear communication and consistency, and advises creators to consider production costs and return when planning a schedule. YouTube live streaming tips YouTube creator tips
- Keep a clear record of footage permissions and any Content ID allowlisting confirmations relevant to the channel and stream.
Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
- The event is scheduled, but nothing is playing: A scheduled event does not create the encoder feed. Connect the encoder with the event’s stream URL and stream key, then start sending the programme.
- The encoder will not connect: Recheck that the URL and key are copied from the intended scheduled event and that the encoder is using those values. If the key has been exposed, replace it in Studio and update the encoder.
- The live stream is interrupted or terminated: YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content, including other live broadcasts. Review the footage and music permissions; if the content is licensed, verify whether the rights owner must allowlist the channel in Content ID.
- A scheduled highlight is not in the live feed: Scheduled publication and a livestream are separate. Add the clip to the encoder’s prepared programme yourself if you are authorized to include it; scheduling the video alone does not feed it into the stream.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: Check the stream duration and encoder setup. YouTube’s cited help states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not establish that every longer stream will be archived automatically.
- Viewers missed a release or joined at the wrong time: Check the scheduled date, time zone, and visibility, then make the correct time explicit in the event details and channel communications.
