For back-to-back Hindi podcast episodes, add the recordings to an OBS VLC Video source in the order you want them to play. Leave Shuffle Playlist off for a fixed sequence, and enable Loop Playlist only if the list should restart after its final episode. Schedule the YouTube broadcast separately in YouTube Studio: OBS controls local playback; YouTube schedules the public event.
Playlist rotation or clock-time scheduling?
These are different jobs. An ordered VLC playlist moves to the next recording when the current one finishes. A clock-triggered schedule starts a particular episode at an advertised time. OBS documents playlist order, shuffle, and looping for VLC Video, but that does not establish per-episode clock scheduling. YouTube’s scheduled-stream feature schedules the broadcast event, not the local files or their sequence.

If you need exact start times, treat that as a separate automation project rather than assuming that scheduling a YouTube event schedules the files. OBS community discussions raise this use case, but do not establish a current, reliable plugin configuration: Auto-Play media file on a set schedule? and Stream from media file to a scheduled YouTube stream.

What you need before building the rotation
- Install OBS Studio and VLC. The VLC Video source depends on VLC; OBS recommends 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS. See OBS Media Sources.
- Put the approved episode files in a stable folder, choose their order, and keep a backup. OBS lists common supported formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV.
- Have access to the YouTube channel’s Live Control Room and confirm the channel is eligible to stream. YouTube’s live-streaming help says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; check the current status for your channel at YouTube live streaming tips.
- Confirm you have the necessary rights for every episode component, including voices, music, clips, and other material. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions place responsibility for rights, including music licensing rights, on the content provider.
Build the episode playlist in OBS
- Create a scene. In OBS, create a scene for the podcast broadcast. Add the artwork, captions, camera, or other overlays you need. Scenes and sources determine the visual elements sent in the broadcast; see the OBS Sources Guide.
- Add the right source type. In the Sources panel, add a VLC Video source, then load the episode files in the intended order. A VLC Video source supports a multi-file playlist; a standard Media Source is intended for a local media item rather than a playlist. If VLC Video is unavailable, check that VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS.
- Confirm the sequence. Use filenames with sortable episode numbers, then inspect the playlist order shown in the source settings. Do not rely on the order files happen to appear in a folder.
- Choose end-of-list behavior. Turn Shuffle Playlist off if episodes must play in a fixed order. Turn Loop Playlist on only if playback should start again at the first item after the last; otherwise, let the playlist reach its end.
- Set hidden-source behavior. Decide whether the VLC source should stop, pause, or continue when hidden by a scene change, and configure its visibility behavior accordingly. This matters if you switch to another scene during the broadcast.
- Check audio. Select the intended audio track in the VLC source and watch the OBS audio meters during playback. Listen to the actual Hindi dialogue to check intelligibility; meters alone cannot confirm that speech is clear.

Schedule the YouTube broadcast and connect OBS
- Create the event. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream. Reuse a previous stream’s settings or create a new stream. YouTube says scheduled streams can be promoted and viewers may request a reminder. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the connection details. In the Live Control Room, get the stream URL and stream key. Configure OBS for YouTube where available, or enter the server URL and key in OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key as a password: YouTube describes stream keys as the stream’s “password and address.” Do not expose it in screenshots, overlays, or public instructions. See Manage live stream settings.
- Start the encoder early. YouTube advises setting up the encoder at least two hours before the stream and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. These are YouTube’s operational recommendations, not guarantees of readiness.
- Inspect the preview. Start streaming from OBS, then confirm in the Live Control Room that the preview shows the right scene and that episode audio is present and intelligible.
- Start the public broadcast. When the event is ready to begin, click Go live in the Live Control Room if its controls require it. Sending encoder data from OBS and starting the scheduled public event are separate states; do not assume one action always performs both.
- Monitor and end deliberately. Check the broadcast picture and audio and confirm the watch page is accessible. When ending, use the Live Control Room’s end control before stopping the encoder, following YouTube’s operating guidance. Interface labels may change, so follow the current controls shown for your event.
Checks for a reliable Hindi episode rotation
- Sequence: Sort and verify the loaded episode list before going live.
- Repeat or stop: Decide in advance whether the playlist should loop or finish at the last episode.
- Randomization: Keep shuffle disabled when the order matters.
- Scene changes: Test whether hiding the source stops, pauses, or continues playback as intended.
- Audio: Check the selected track, OBS meters, and spoken-word clarity by listening.
- Broadcast state: Confirm the scheduled YouTube event has actually gone live after the encoder preview appears.
- Rights: Check permissions for every recording and included music before the stream.
Common problems and fixes
VLC Video is missing from the source list
Install VLC and restart OBS. If OBS is 64-bit, use 64-bit VLC. Then reopen the Sources menu and check for VLC Video.
The playlist plays in the wrong order
Inspect and reorder the files in the VLC source itself. Use sortable episode numbers in filenames, but verify the loaded list rather than assuming folder order determines playback order.

Episodes play randomly or the list does not restart
For a predictable sequence, disable Shuffle Playlist. To restart from the first episode after the final one, enable Loop Playlist. These controls do different things.

The source goes silent or stops after a scene change
Check the VLC source’s hidden-source behavior and its selected audio track. If the source is hidden during a scene switch, it may stop, pause, or continue depending on its setting. Test the transition before the scheduled broadcast.

OBS is sending video, but the scheduled event is not public
Check the Live Control Room preview and the event controls. Starting the encoder sends data; YouTube may still require you to click Go live to begin the public event.
The event starts late or the preview is not ready
Follow YouTube’s timing guidance: configure the encoder at least two hours ahead and start it at least 15 minutes before the event. Confirm the preview before the planned start rather than relying on the event schedule alone.
