1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo schedule Sikh shabad kirtan on YouTube, create a live event in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder with the event’s server URL and stream key, then check the preview and start the broadcast. The crucial planning points are music rights, a dependable audio and internet path, and YouTube’s warning that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive. A scheduled event is not, by itself, a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 transmission.
Before you schedule: check channel access and plan the broadcast
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check eligibility before preparing a public schedule. YouTube’s setup recommendations also call for testing the stream path and allowing time to resolve problems before the broadcast. See YouTube live streaming tips.

Decide whether viewers should find the broadcast as one continuous event or through recurring shorter events. Choose visibility—public, unlisted, or private—and prepare an accurate title, description, thumbnail, and schedule in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Consider how viewers will find each event and receive notifications if you divide the programming.

Schedule the event and connect an encoder
- Create the event: In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream, and enter its visibility, title, description, thumbnail, and start time. YouTube’s encoder workflow is described in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Set up the encoder: Select the encoder option and copy the server URL and stream key shown for the event into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it could send a feed to your event. If it is exposed, reset it in Studio and update the encoder.
- Start the feed before the scheduled time: Start the encoder and wait for the incoming signal to appear in the Live Control Room preview. Inspect the image and listen to the actual audio feed, rather than assuming that a successful encoder connection means the sound is right.
- Go live: When the preview and stream health look correct, click Go live if the event requires it. Auto-start and auto-stop settings can change the operator’s steps, so check the settings on the specific event in Studio. YouTube describes these controls in Manage live stream settings.
Do a full test with the intended microphones, mixer or playback source, encoder, internet connection, and local recording workflow before the first public broadcast. Recheck audio and video during operation; an unattended 24-hour schedule still needs a plan for monitoring and recovery.

Choose a 24/7 format with the archive limit in mind
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but if a live stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. Do not promise viewers a complete YouTube replay of a 24-hour broadcast. If keeping a full record matters, make a local recording and verify that the file is being written correctly. The platform’s guidance is in Archive live streams.
| Format | What to plan for |
|---|---|
| One continuous event | Simple for viewers to follow as a single broadcast, but it crosses YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold; keep a local recording if the full program must be preserved. |
| Separate shorter events | Can make shorter event archives practical, but someone or a supported operating setup must manage the transitions, notices, and monitoring. Confirm the intended archive behavior in a test. |
YouTube’s published guidance explains event scheduling; it does not promise uninterrupted 24-hour operation. Decide in advance who will monitor the feed, what will happen if the encoder or connection fails, and how each event will be restarted. A local recording protects against a missing platform archive, but not against an outage unless the recording setup itself remains operational.

Set video, audio, and upload capacity for stability
Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance rather than copying an old preset. Its settings page lists RTMPS, H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video options, along with AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Available codecs and settings depend on the encoder. See Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Recommended Free Tools
Set resolution and bitrate according to the encoder’s capabilities and the actual upload connection. YouTube says the total outgoing bitrate must fit within upload capacity and recommends 20% headroom beyond the stream bitrate. Test actual upload performance; prefer a reliable wired connection where practical, and monitor stream health. Guidance on preparation and monitoring is at Streaming tips.

- Listen for clipping, hum, silence, and an incorrect source during a test; check levels at the encoder and in the Live Control Room preview.
- For a venue mixer or instruments, a dedicated audio interface or preamp can help route audio into the encoding computer, but it is optional if the existing chain already provides a suitable input.
- A software encoder and an existing computer may be sufficient. A hardware encoder can be considered for a higher-production or unattended setup; YouTube does not require expensive equipment.
- A UPS can help with brief power loss, but it cannot prevent internet or YouTube outages.
Clear the rights for every recording and performance
Do not assume a shabad, devotional composition, or traditional melody makes a particular recording free to broadcast. Rights may differ for the composition, arrangement, live performance, sound recording, and backing track. YouTube’s terms place responsibility on the provider to secure the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other participants for the territories where it is used. Read YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions.
Before going live, make a track-by-track inventory and obtain written permission covering the actual performance or recording, live transmission, relevant territories, duration, and any archive or replay. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can replace the image, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Even when you have a licence, a stream may still be interrupted unless the relevant rights owner has allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Ask the owner or distributor about allowlisting where applicable. See Copyright issues with live streams.

- No preview in the Live Control Room: Check that the encoder is running and that the server URL and stream key match the scheduled event. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Studio and replace it in the encoder.
- Preview appears, but the scheduled event is not live: Check whether that event requires a manual Go live action or has auto-start enabled. Confirm its schedule and settings in the Live Control Room.
- Audio is silent, distorted, or coming from the wrong source: Check the input selected in the encoder, mixer or interface routing, and levels. Test with the exact audio chain intended for the broadcast.
- Stream health degrades or the feed drops: Compare the total outgoing bitrate with tested upload capacity and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Check the connection and encoder, then monitor recovery rather than assuming the event will resume by itself.
- A live stream is interrupted after a music match: Review the matched content and the rights documentation. Licensing alone may not prevent a Content ID interruption; contact the rights owner or distributor about allowlisting.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Use a local recording for the complete program and test that recording workflow before relying on it.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a pre-recorded kirtan program, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping a YouTube channel live without leaving a computer or home connection running. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded video; it does not broadcast from a camera.
