Build one truthful story around a client’s offer, then adapt the opening, edit, captions, framing, and call to action for TikTok and Instagram Reels. For AI Search, support the video with useful, crawlable website content; there is no formula that guarantees a social ad will appear in Google’s AI experiences. Use AI to speed up production, but have a person verify the claims, rights, brand fit, and usefulness.
How do I make one video work on TikTok and Reels?
Start with a single message, not a single finished edit. Keep the customer problem, offer, evidence, and intended outcome consistent across versions. Adapt the execution to each placement rather than uploading the same cut everywhere. TikTok recommends tailoring videos, captions, and calls to action for other platforms in its small-business video advertising guide; Meta’s Reels guidance likewise emphasizes vertical video, audio, and safe-zone placement.

Write the story before you make variants
- Name the customer and problem. Make the first beat specific enough that the intended viewer recognizes the situation.
- Show the offer solving it. Demonstrate the actual product or service and a benefit the client can support. Do not invent a testimonial, result, or customer experience.
- End with one next step. Choose a call to action that fits the campaign, such as learning more or contacting the business.
This problem, solution, outcome structure follows TikTok’s creative advertising guidance. Write a master script, then make modular alternatives for the hook, demonstration, and call to action. Change one meaningful element at a time when testing so you can learn which version better serves the campaign.
Adapt the edit to the placement
| Element | TikTok version | Instagram Reels version |
|---|---|---|
| Framing | Use vertical 9:16 and keep important visuals clear of interface controls, following TikTok’s performance creative recommendations. | Use vertical 9:16 and keep key messages in the safe zone, as described in Meta’s Reels guidance. |
| Opening and pace | Lead with a quick, relevant hook; TikTok recommends capturing attention in the first seconds. | Make the opening legible and engaging in the Reels viewing experience; test a placement-specific hook rather than assuming the TikTok edit will transfer unchanged. |
| Sound and text | Use sound where it supports the idea, and add captions or text overlays so the message is understandable on screen. | Meta recommends audio; keep essential meaning available through on-screen text or captions as well. |
| Call to action | Use a next step that fits the TikTok ad and destination. | Adjust the wording and pacing to suit the Reels placement and campaign objective. |
These are platform recommendations, not guarantees of reach or sales. TikTok’s performance creative article was last updated in June 2025; check the current platform specifications before producing or publishing because guidance can change.

How long should a TikTok ad be?
The cited guidance does not establish one ideal duration that applies to every ad. Instead of stretching a script to meet a universal number, make each beat earn its place: establish the problem quickly, show the offer clearly, and allow enough time for the viewer to understand the next step. Test pacing and length against the campaign goal and audience response.
Can AI help me make video ads for clients?
Yes—as a production assistant, not as the authority on what the client can claim. TikTok’s small-business guide describes AI-enabled creative tools, and AI can help brainstorm concepts, draft scripts, or generate editing variations. A smartphone can be a starting point for filming; a simple, steady shot of the real offer may be more useful than elaborate production.

Review every AI-assisted asset
- Claims: Check figures, promises, product details, and implied outcomes against information the client can substantiate.
- Brand fit: Make sure the script sounds like the business and speaks to its actual customers.
- Rights: Confirm permission to use any audio, images, footage, or other material in the ad.
- Usefulness: Ensure the finished creative answers a real customer question rather than simply filling a publishing schedule.
Google says generative AI can help with research and structuring content, but producing many pages without adding value may violate its spam policies. Apply the same editorial discipline to the video and any accompanying copy: automation can accelerate drafts, but it does not validate them. See Google’s guidance on generative AI content.

Treat AI Search as a discoverability and usefulness problem, not a paid-social video format. Google says established SEO practices remain relevant to its generative Search features and recommends original, helpful content. Publish the video on an accessible page with visible text that explains what it shows and why it matters to the client’s customers. Follow Google’s AI Search guidance and its video SEO best practices so the video and its context can be discovered and indexed.
Describe the video accurately
Where appropriate, add valid VideoObject structured data. Google lists the video name, thumbnail URL, and upload date as required properties for eligibility. Structured data describes the content; it does not promise a rich result, ranking, or appearance in an AI-generated response.
Check discoverability instead of assuming it
- Confirm that the page is accessible to crawlers and that the video is embedded or otherwise presented in a way Google can find.
- Make the visible page copy relevant and original; do not create thin, near-duplicate pages just to accompany a batch of videos.
- Describe the video with accurate metadata and use structured data only when it matches what users can see.
- Monitor the site in Search Console to identify indexing or performance issues.
How should I measure and scale the workflow?
Choose measures that match the objective before comparing creative. TikTok’s creative guide discusses watch time, completion, engagement, click-through, and conversion measures. Meta describes A/B testing for Reels creative and placements in its Reels guidance. Platform guidance does not establish one universally winning edit or result.

- Make a small, interpretable test. Use the master storyline, changing a hook, caption treatment, pacing, or call to action rather than rewriting every element at once.
- Compare the right signals. Consider audience fit, retention, message comprehension, accessibility, and the conversion outcome tied to the goal.
- Account for production effort. Keep variants that provide useful learning or results without creating unnecessary work for the client.
- Use the learning in the next round. Refresh the modular elements while keeping the offer and supportable promise consistent.
Do not treat platform-reported performance figures as a forecast for a particular client. Results depend on the offer, audience, creative, placement, and campaign setup; the workflow is a way to make and evaluate relevant variations, not a performance guarantee.
