Choose the right output before you capture

A PDF is a print rendering, so pagination and line wrapping can differ from the live page. A screenshot is an image rather than a reflowable document, and it is not normally searchable. If you need both forms, create the PDF first for text access and then make a full-page screenshot for visual reference.

Translate the page before saving it
Translation is a separate step from capture. If you print or screenshot first, you will save the original language. Open the page, wait for it to finish loading, and use the browser’s translation control before opening any capture or print command.
Chrome
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Select Translate beside the address bar and choose the target language.
- If the control is not visible, right-click the page and choose Translate to [Language].
- Wait for the page text to change, then scroll through the page so important lazy-loaded sections appear.
- Check a heading, a paragraph and any navigation labels in the target language before capturing.
If Chrome does not translate the page, refresh it and try the translation control again. Translation can change line lengths and therefore the eventual page breaks, so do not configure print settings until the translated view is visible.

Edge, Firefox and Safari
Use the translation command exposed by your browser or operating system, then verify the translated text in the live page. Menu names and feature availability vary by browser version, operating system and device. The capture instructions below begin only after translation is visible.
Save the translated page as a PDF on a computer
Chrome and Edge print workflow
- With the translated page open, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on macOS. In Edge you can also open Settings and more → Print.
- In the print preview, choose the browser’s PDF destination. Chrome normally labels it Save to PDF; Edge presents the same print workflow.
- Set the page range. Use All for the complete translation, or enter specific pages after checking the preview.
- Choose portrait or landscape orientation. Landscape can prevent wide translated tables from being clipped.
- Adjust scale and margins until headings, columns and translated characters fit. A smaller scale can keep a section together but may reduce readability.
- Enable Background graphics when the preview loses colored panels, translated-page styling or images that are part of the design.
- Review every page in the preview. Confirm that the translated text is present, images have loaded, headers and footers are acceptable, and no important content is split awkwardly.
- Select Save, choose a descriptive filename, and store the PDF.
Do not judge the result from the live webpage alone. Print layout is a different rendering: fixed page boundaries can move headings, separate captions from images and omit interactive behavior. The preview is the authoritative check before you save.
Firefox
- Open the translated page and press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on macOS.
- Choose the Save to PDF destination in print preview.
- Set copies, orientation, page selection, scale, pages per sheet, margins, format, two-sided printing, headers and footers, and backgrounds as needed.
- Inspect the translated text and page breaks, then save the file.
Firefox also documents a cleanup route for pages that contain unwanted navigation, advertisements or other clutter: edit the content before printing with a Firefox Add-ons extension such as Print Edit WE. Treat the edited page as a temporary print view and verify that you have not removed translated text or required images.

Microsoft Edge on Windows or macOS
- Translate the page and confirm that the target-language text is visible.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S to open Edge’s Screenshot feature.
- Choose Capture full page. Edge captures the entire webpage in one image, including content that extends beyond the visible screen.
- Use the resulting overlay to add markup if needed.
- Copy the image or save it to a file, then open the saved image and check the bottom of the page for cut-off content.
A full-page capture preserves the rendered appearance rather than producing a text document. Very long pages can create large image files, and small text may be harder to read when the image is viewed at a reduced size.
iPhone Safari
- Open the page in Safari, translate it, and wait until the translated text is visible.
- Take a normal screenshot using the iPhone’s hardware buttons.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears in the lower-left corner.
- Choose Full Page to include the entire Safari webpage instead of only the visible screen.
- Use the editor if you need to crop or annotate, then save or share the result.
The Full Page option is available in the screenshot editor for an entire Safari webpage. If the page is extremely long, check the saved result for readable text and complete lower sections.

Save a translated webpage as a PDF on iPhone Safari
- Translate the webpage in Safari and verify a sample of the translated text.
- Open the Page Menu, tap Share, and choose Markup.
- Annotate the page if required.
- Tap Done, choose Save File To, name the PDF, and select a location in Files.
This route creates a PDF and lets you annotate before saving. It is different from the Full Page screenshot option: use the PDF workflow when you need a document you can print or search, and the screenshot workflow when you need an image of the rendered page.
Preserve a translated page in Safari on Mac
- Translate the page and leave the translated view open.
- Choose File → Save As.
- Select Web Archive to save the page with its graphics and links, or select Page Source if you specifically need only the HTML source.
- Name the file and save it locally.
A Safari Web Archive keeps graphics and links available while the destination webpages remain available. It is preservation of a Safari page, not a PDF or a single raster image, so use Print or Screenshot when those output types are required.

Make the capture complete and readable
Force content below the fold to load
Many pages load images and sections only as you scroll. Scroll through the translated page before printing or taking a screenshot, pause where large images appear, and return to the top before starting the capture. If a print preview still shows blank image areas, the content may not have loaded or may be intentionally excluded from print CSS.
Keep translated styling in a PDF
Compare the live page with the print preview. If colored backgrounds, panels or other important translated-page styling disappear, turn on Background graphics. This control is especially important in Edge, where Microsoft documents it as the fix when preview or output differs from the webpage.
Remove clutter without deleting the translation
For a page crowded with navigation or promotional elements, use Firefox’s documented Print Edit WE approach to edit the print view, or use Edge’s Immersive Reader where it is available. After cleanup, check that headings, translated paragraphs, tables, figures and links you need are still present. A cleaner page is useful only if it remains an accurate copy of the translated content.

Choose a filename and verify the saved file
Include the source language, target language and capture date in the filename, for example article-fr-to-en-2026-10-16.pdf. Open the saved PDF or image rather than trusting the save dialog. Check the first page, a middle section and the final section; confirm that accented characters, right-to-left text, images and page endings render correctly.

Troubleshooting
The saved file is still in the original language
The capture started before translation finished. Return to the live page, confirm that several visible strings changed, wait for dynamic sections to settle, and then reopen print preview or start a new full-page screenshot.
The PDF is missing colors or panels
Print preview may have disabled background rendering. Enable Background graphics, then inspect the preview again. If a panel is still absent, the site’s print stylesheet may intentionally hide it; a full-page screenshot will preserve the on-screen appearance instead.
Images are blank or missing
Scroll through the translated page to trigger lazy loading, wait for images to finish, and capture again. In an automated request, use a selector wait, delay or network-idle wait and enable full-page lazy-image loading.

The bottom of the screenshot is cut off
Use the browser’s explicit full-page option rather than a normal viewport screenshot. In Edge choose Capture full page; on iPhone Safari choose Full Page in the screenshot editor. Reopen the saved image to verify the final section.
Text overlaps or page breaks are awkward in the PDF
Try portrait versus landscape, adjust scale and margins, and set a narrower page range for the affected section. Translation often changes line lengths, so a layout that worked for the original language may require different print settings.
Important content is hidden after cleanup
Undo the edit or reload the original translated page and repeat the cleanup more conservatively. Compare headings, paragraphs, figures and links against the live translation before saving.
The automated capture costs a request but does not contain a usable page
