How to save or print the GTA 6 interactive map as a PDF

Interactive maps currently come from community projects. The public project gta6map.github.io describes itself as “This is an interactive map of Grand Theft Auto VI, including all landmarks that have been identified so far.” Its README says the landmark data and map tiles are available for users to use and places the project in the public domain. Another project, GTAVIMap, describes itself as an interactive map and location guide and says it is not affiliated with Rockstar or Take-Two. Do not present either project as Rockstar-approved.

Because these maps are updated by their creators, save the project name and capture date in your PDF filename, for example gta6map-2026-10-18-south-leonida.pdf. That makes it clear which version you printed when landmarks or labels change.

Choose the PDF format before you print

Prepare the interactive map for printing

1. Use a desktop browser. Open the community map on a computer rather than a narrow phone viewport. A wider window gives the print engine more room for tiles and labels.
2. Wait for the map to finish loading. Pan across the area you intend to save and confirm that every visible tile, marker and label has appeared. If the project has a loading indicator, wait for it to clear.
3. Set the exact view. Zoom to the region you need. A selected region is usually more readable than a single page containing the entire map.
4. Reduce visual clutter. Hide marker categories, legends or side panels you do not need. Closing a panel can give the map additional printable width.
5. Record the state. Note the project name, visible region, active layers and capture date. Community maps can change, and a PDF is a static snapshot.

Method 1: save a rendered map view with the browser’s PDF printer

1. With the map view ready, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Cmd+P on macOS. You can also open the browser menu and choose Print.
2. In Chrome or Edge, set the destination to Save to PDF. In Firefox or Safari, choose the equivalent PDF printer or save-as-PDF option.
3. Set Orientation to Landscape. Interactive maps are normally wider than they are tall, so portrait mode often cuts off the sides.
4. Turn off Headers and footers. This removes the URL, date and page title from the map area and leaves more room for tiles.
5. Use default or minimum margins, depending on which setting keeps the map inside the printable area. Do not assume that minimum margins are always better; some printers cannot print to the physical edge.
6. Adjust the scale until the preview contains the complete intended region. If the right or bottom edge is missing, reduce the scale rather than saving a clipped file.
7. Inspect every preview page. Look for blank squares, half-rendered tiles, missing labels, a cut-off legend or a side panel covering the map.
8. Click Save, choose a descriptive filename, and open the resulting PDF in a separate viewer. Confirm that the saved file contains the same tiles and labels shown in the preview before printing on paper.

When to use several pages

If reducing the map to one sheet makes place names unreadable, create one PDF page per region. For example, capture the northern, central and southern portions separately at a comfortable zoom. Keep the same orientation, scale and layer selection for each page so the set is easier to compare. Number the pages or add a short region name to each filename.

Method 2: recover from a blank or incomplete print preview

Many interactive maps draw tiles or labels inside a canvas. A browser can display that canvas correctly while its print renderer produces a blank page or only part of the map. Treat the print preview as the authority: if a tile is absent there, it will not appear in the saved PDF.

1. Cancel the print dialog and return to the map.
2. Resize the browser window so the complete desired map area is visible, then wait for all tiles and labels again.
3. Capture the visible map at the highest resolution available to your operating system or browser. Keep the capture at its native size instead of enlarging it immediately.
4. Open a document or graphics application, set the page to landscape, and place the capture on the page. Add a legend or title only if you have room without covering map labels.
5. For a large area, make several overlapping captures. Align them in the document rather than stretching one small image across a poster-sized page.
6. Export the document as a PDF and open it to check that labels remain legible and no capture edge hides a road, marker or legend.

This workaround creates a static image PDF, not an interactive map. It is the practical fallback when the map’s canvas does not print directly.

Make the PDF readable on screen and on paper

• Prefer region-sized pages. A map that is technically complete but reduced until labels are unreadable is not useful. Use multiple pages when necessary.
• Keep the map’s aspect ratio. Do not stretch a screenshot vertically or horizontally; distortion makes distances and symbols harder to interpret.
• Leave a small safety margin. Printer hardware may trim the outermost edge even when the PDF page itself is complete.
• Check both zoom levels. At 100% in a PDF viewer, confirm that small labels are present; at page-fit view, confirm that the overall region is not clipped.
• Use a consistent layer set. If one page shows collectibles and another hides them, readers may mistake a layer difference for a geographic difference.
• Keep the source capture. Store the original screenshot or the original PDF beside the final print file so you can rebuild the page after a community-map update.

Common problems and fixes

Can you download a GTA 6 map?

You can save a static PDF or image of a community map view, but that is different from downloading an official Rockstar interactive-map package. The official GTA VI media area currently lists trailers, screenshots, artwork, wallpapers and ZIP downloads; it does not identify an official interactive-map PDF export. A browser PDF also does not preserve pan, zoom, search or clickable markers. Keep the original map URL in your notes if you need those interactive functions later.

When a poster makes more sense

Choose a poster only when you need one large, continuous reference and have a high-resolution source. A browser PDF is usually easier to revise, cheaper to print and better for a selected region or a multi-page set. Before ordering or sharing a physical design, verify that the listing is live, the seller is identified, the map asset may legally be reproduced and the source is current.
