Save the highlight while your own replay is available
- Open your match history in the League client. Find a match you played in and open its replay using the client. Riot confirms that players can still download and watch their own match replays this way; access is limited to matches they participated in under Patch 26.20.
- Find the play you want to keep. Watch the replay and navigate to the moment you want to preserve.
- Use the client’s recording or highlight feature. Riot’s replay and highlights guide describes recording a section of a replay and saving it as a video file. The guide was published in 2017, so treat that as the general workflow—not confirmation of today’s button names, controls, or save location.
- Check the saved video. Copy it somewhere you can keep it and play it back before closing the client. This is a practical precaution; Riot’s current patch notes do not specify the file’s default destination or format.
What changed in Patch 26.20
Riot’s October 6, 2026 patch notes limit replay access to players who participated in the match. Other players can no longer download that replay, and third-party apps and sites lose replay-download access. Riot says the change addresses security vulnerabilities that have been exploited to build unauthorized tools. It does not prevent you from reviewing your own matches through the League client.

What is not confirmed about replay expiry
Riot’s current Patch 26.20 notes do not state how long replays remain available. A 2024 Patch 14.6 note referred to replay storage returning to “~14 days as normal” after a temporary update. That is historical information, not confirmation of the current replay window. Download and record your own replay as soon as practical rather than relying on a specific number of days.

Which replay-saving route still works?

If you want a shareable clip rather than a replay to review later, record the moment as a video while you can still open your match replay. The replay-access change does not remove the self-review path Riot describes, but it rules out relying on someone else or an outside service to obtain the replay.
