Find the order through the official eCourts service, open the order or judgment PDF, and submit its accessible URL to ArchiveBox. If the case-detail page is also publicly reachable, save that URL separately: the PDF and the page preserve different information. ArchiveBox is self-hosted web-archiving software, not a way to bypass a CAPTCHA or obtain a certified court copy.
Find the order or case record on eCourts
The eCourts High Courts Services portal offers searches by case number, court number, party name, and order date, as well as a neutral citation number search field. Choose the route that matches the details you have. The portal’s search instructions may require you to enter a CAPTCHA, so complete the lookup interactively in your browser.

Once you reach the result, open “Order on Exhibit” or “Copy of Judgement” to view an order or judgment in PDF format. If you need a case page as well as the document, open the case-detail or result page and note its URL too. The district-court services and the eCourts app have separate lookup routes; the steps here describe the High Courts Services portal.
Choose what to save
- For the court document: use the accessible PDF URL that opens from the order or judgment link. Submitting the PDF directly makes the document, rather than only a web page linking to it, the capture target.
- For case context: submit the publicly reachable case-detail or result-page URL separately. A page capture can preserve context around the document.
- For a fuller local record: submit both URLs when both are accessible. They are distinct targets, and saving one does not imply the other was captured.
Copy the URL from the browser address bar after opening each target. A link that depends on your active session or an earlier search may not remain accessible to ArchiveBox; verify the resulting snapshot rather than assuming the URL is permanent.

Add the URLs to ArchiveBox
Run the documented add command
From an environment where ArchiveBox is installed and configured, submit each URL with archivebox add. For example, replace the example address with the PDF URL you copied:
archivebox add 'https://example.com/path/to/order.pdf'To preserve the case page as well, run the command again with that page’s URL:

archivebox add 'https://example.com/path/to/case-page'For a Docker Compose installation, ArchiveBox’s project instructions show running the add command inside the ArchiveBox container. The exact setup and container command depend on the installation you chose; follow the project’s current instructions for your platform rather than assuming a universal container name or working directory.

ArchiveBox documents Docker Compose, docker run, and installation through uv. Docker-based setups suit readers already comfortable running containers; the package route may fit a Python tooling environment. Setup steps vary by platform and version. Check the archived result
After adding a URL, inspect the snapshot in your ArchiveBox collection. Confirm that the expected PDF or page output is present and readable, and retain the original official eCourts link alongside the archived copy so you can return to the source record.
ArchiveBox lists outputs including original HTML, CSS and JavaScript, single-file HTML, screenshot PNG, PDF, and WARC. These are possible capture outputs, not a guarantee that every output will be produced for every target or setup. A portal page that depends on a live session, CAPTCHA, or other interactive access can complicate retrieval; the available documentation does not promise every court URL will archive successfully.

What an ArchiveBox copy does—and does not—establish
An archived page or downloaded PDF is useful for preservation and later reference, but it does not replace the official court record. The eCourts portal’s PDF workflow is a way to view orders and judgments; it does not establish that an ArchiveBox copy is a court-issued certified copy or suitable for filing. For the authoritative or current version, return to the relevant official court service and follow its process for obtaining certified copies when required.

- The court search does not proceed: complete the CAPTCHA in the official portal and use its search form. The available information does not establish that ArchiveBox can solve a CAPTCHA or reproduce your active portal session.
- The PDF URL fails in ArchiveBox: open it directly in your browser first. If it requires session state or expires, return to the official portal and try the current accessible link; keep the official source URL for reference.
- The page is saved but the order is missing: add the order PDF URL as its own target. A case page and its linked PDF are separate capture targets.
- You cannot run
archivebox add: check that ArchiveBox is installed and that you are running the command in the right environment. For Docker Compose, run it in the ArchiveBox container using the project’s instructions for your setup. - The snapshot does not contain the output you expected: inspect the available files for that capture and try the direct PDF URL if the document is the priority. ArchiveBox’s listed formats are not guaranteed for every URL.
