Use Power Automate for desktop (Power Automate Desktop) to open the HTML page in a browser, then run its Take screenshot of web page action. Choose Entire web page or Specific element, set Save mode to File, enter the image path, and select JPG as the file format. This is a desktop browser-automation workflow, not a generic cloud-flow HTML-to-image conversion action.
What you need
- Power Automate for desktop and a desktop flow you can run on the computer that will capture the page.
- A browser instance that the flow can launch or attach to, and the target HTML page available in that browser. The page may be reached by URL or rendered from a local file, depending on the browser and environment.
- A destination folder where the flow has permission to create the JPG.
Microsoft’s browser automation overview describes browser-launch and web-page interaction actions, while its screenshot action captures the page currently displayed in the browser. See Microsoft’s browser automation actions reference and the screenshot action documentation.
Build the desktop flow
- Create a desktop flow. Open Power Automate for desktop and create a new flow.
- Open a browser. Add a browser-launch action to start a new browser instance, or use the applicable attach action to connect to an existing one. Microsoft’s recording documentation names Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer; actual availability and behavior depend on your current Power Automate for desktop and browser environment. - Navigate to the HTML. Use the browser web-page interaction actions to navigate to the URL or local page. Ensure the page you want is the active rendered page before proceeding.
- Wait for the page to be ready. Add an appropriate wait for the page’s content or images to render. A capture taken immediately after navigation can miss content that loads asynchronously.
- Add the screenshot action. Search the action pane for Take screenshot of web page and add it after navigation and waiting.
- Choose the capture area. Set Capture to Entire web page for a full-page image. Choose Specific element to capture a selected page element instead.
- Save the image. Set Save mode to File, enter the complete destination in Image file, and set File format to JPG. For example, use a writable path such as
C:UsersPublicDocumentspage.jpg. - Run and verify. Run the flow, then confirm that the file exists and opens correctly before passing it to another action, such as an upload to SharePoint.
Microsoft describes the action as one that “Takes a screenshot of the web page (or an element of the web page) currently displayed in the browser and saves the image to a file or the clipboard.” The action can save to a file or clipboard, and JPG is a supported output format. Choose full-page, element, or clipboard capture

For automated file handling, file output makes the artifact’s location explicit. Clipboard output is an alternative, but it does not itself create a JPG at a path; choose the mode that matches the next step in your flow.

Wait for dynamic HTML before capturing
A browser screenshot records what is rendered at the time the action runs. Pages with client-side rendering, delayed images, or content that appears after navigation can therefore produce incomplete captures if the flow moves straight to the screenshot action.
- Wait for a page element that indicates the main content is present, if that element is stable and identifiable.
- For content that appears after a known delay, add a wait before capture and allow for realistic variation in load time.
- For lazy-loaded images on a long page, confirm they have been loaded before taking the full-page screenshot; simply navigating to the page does not guarantee every image is ready.
- When capturing a specific element, verify the selector or element reference still identifies the intended object on the current page.
Waiting improves the odds of a complete capture but cannot make an unavailable page or blocked resource render successfully. Check the browser itself when the result looks blank or partial.

Save the JPG and use it in later steps
Enter a full filename with a JPG extension in the screenshot action’s Image file setting, for example C:UsersPublicDocumentsreport-page.jpg. The key requirements are a valid path and permission to write there. After capture, use a file-existence or equivalent validation step before attempting to upload, move, or attach the image. This catches failed saves before they become confusing downstream errors.
If the next step uploads the file, distinguish browser web automation from browser dialogs. Microsoft notes that web automation cannot control browser dialog boxes such as Save as, Open, and Upload; those dialogs require desktop recorder or UI automation. Prefer a file-handling or supported connector action when available instead of trying to manipulate a browser dialog as if it were a webpage element. See Microsoft’s web automation guidance.

Power Automate desktop versus a cloud flow
The documented native screenshot method here is a desktop flow using browser automation: it captures the page currently displayed in a browser. It is not a cloud-flow action that takes arbitrary HTML input and converts it directly to JPG. Microsoft documents HTTP and web-service actions as another integration surface, but that is a different architecture and requires an appropriate rendering service; the Microsoft material cited here does not establish a specific HTML-to-image provider. For an unattended or server-side workflow, decide whether you need to operate a real desktop browser or call a rendering API, then account for authentication, JavaScript rendering, network access, and output storage.
