Choose the format that matches your reference need
A campus plan can contain long tables, embedded schedules, diagrams, expandable sections, and images that do not fit in one viewport. The right format determines what survives after you close the browser.

Whatever format you choose, expand every section that must be recorded, wait for charts and embedded timelines to finish loading, and close transient menus or notifications first. A capture records the state that is on screen at that moment; it will not remember a collapsed section or an interaction you never performed.
Save a full-page image in Firefox
Firefox’s built-in screenshot tool can capture the visible viewport or the entire scrolling page. Mozilla Support describes the full-page workflow as a way to capture content beyond what is currently visible and save it as an image.

- Open the canonical URL for the campus project plan.
- Wait for images, charts, embedded timelines, and expandable content to finish loading. Expand the sections that belong in the record.
- Right-click an empty area of the page. Do not right-click a link, image, or form control.
- Choose Take Screenshot.
- Select Save full page. The preview should extend beyond the current viewport.
- Click Download. Firefox saves the image in its normal download folder.
Use a sensible zoom before opening the tool. Zoom changes the visual scale and can affect how much detail is legible in the resulting image. If the plan uses a sticky header, floating chat control, newsletter prompt, or consent dialog, dismiss or close it before capturing so it does not cover project content.
If “Take Screenshot” is not visible
Make sure the context menu was opened over an empty page area rather than over a selected object. If the command is still unavailable, use Firefox’s Developer Tools fallback described below. Browser menus can vary by release and by the page element under the pointer.
Save the plan as a PDF from any major browser
Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge can print a webpage to a PDF. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux and Command+P on macOS; you can also open the browser’s Print command.

- Open the plan and wait for all required content to render.
- Open Print or press the appropriate shortcut.
- Choose Save as PDF. On Windows, Microsoft Print to PDF is another available destination.
- Set the page range, paper size, orientation, scale, margins, and whether headers and footers should appear.
- Enable background graphics when the preview loses colored bands, shaded table cells, maps, or other visual elements.
- Name the file with identifying metadata and save it to the approved location.
- Open the saved PDF and inspect the first, middle, and last pages.
Firefox print controls
Firefox’s print dialog exposes destination, orientation, page selection, color mode, paper size, scale, pages per sheet, margins, format, two-sided printing, headers and footers, and background settings. Mozilla cautions that webpages can deliberately present themselves differently on paper than on screen, so compare the preview with the live plan before saving.
Edge print controls
Edge provides page ranges, paper size, margins, scaling, headers and footers, and a Background graphics setting. If the preview differs from the webpage, include background graphics and check whether scaling or margins are forcing an unexpected page break.

Save an offline HTML copy with its assets
Choose this format when the HTML structure and downloaded page assets are more valuable than a single flattened picture. In Firefox, open the page menu and choose Save Page As. Select Web page, complete, then save.
Firefox writes an HTML file and a new directory containing pictures and other supporting files. Keep that directory beside the HTML file when moving or archiving the copy. Mozilla notes that this method may not preserve the original HTML link structure, so treat it as an offline reference rather than a guaranteed duplicate of the live site.
After saving, disconnect from the network or open the file in a separate tab and test the parts you need. Confirm that images, tables, and local links load. Interactive data fetched only after a click or from a server may not be included in the saved copy.
Advanced Firefox capture with Developer Tools
Firefox’s Developer Tools offer a fallback when the context-menu command is missing and provide controls useful for delayed content, pixel density, filenames, or one-element captures. In Firefox Source Docs, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons. The screenshot is saved to Downloads.

The Web Console also provides a :screenshot helper. Its documented options include:
--fullpageto capture the entire scrolling page.--delayto wait before capture when charts, images, or animations need additional time.--dprto set device pixel ratio and control pixel density.--filenameto choose a descriptive output name.--selectorto capture one element instead of the whole document.
A representative command is:
:screenshot --fullpage --delay 3000 --dpr 2 --filename project-plan.pngThe exact delay should match the page rather than a fixed rule. If the plan loads data only after an interaction, perform that interaction first; a delay cannot create content that the page has not requested.
A repeatable campus-plan capture checklist
- Open the canonical plan URL. Avoid a temporary preview, search result, or redirected copy when the official address is available.
- Let the page settle. Wait for charts, images, embedded timelines, and expandable sections. Scroll through once if that is how the site triggers lazy loading.
- Set the intended view. Choose a readable zoom, expand required sections, and close menus, notifications, consent prompts, and chat controls.
- Pick the output. Use PNG, JPEG, or WebP for visual evidence; PDF for a paginated and searchable reference; or complete webpage for offline HTML and assets.
- Name the file with metadata. A pattern such as
project-plan_campus_term_capture-date_version.pdfmakes later retrieval easier. Replace each descriptive part with the actual campus, term, date, and plan version. - Keep a companion note. Record the source URL, page title, capture date, and plan version or term alongside the artifact.
- Inspect the saved artifact. Check the beginning, middle, and end for clipping, missing images, broken tables, unreadable text, and unexpected page breaks. For PDFs, specifically review scale, margins, orientation, headers and footers, and background graphics.
- Store it under the institution’s rules. Use an approved location and apply the project plan’s access restrictions. Browser documentation does not define your campus privacy or records-retention policy; confirm those requirements with the institution.
Why a capture can look wrong, and how to fix it
The screenshot stops at the viewport
Use Firefox’s Save full page option rather than the visible-area option. If that command is unavailable, enable the Developer Tools full-page screenshot button or use :screenshot --fullpage.
Images or charts are missing
Wait for the page to finish loading and scroll through it once to trigger lazy-loaded content. Expand the relevant panel before capture. For a delayed page, use the DevTools --delay option or an automated capture setting that waits for a selector, a delay, or network idle.

A PDF has blank backgrounds or different colors
In the print dialog, enable background graphics. Then review paper size, orientation, scale, and margins. A webpage can intentionally use a print stylesheet, so a difference between screen and paper is not necessarily a capture failure.
Tables split awkwardly across PDF pages
Try landscape orientation, a larger paper size, narrower margins, or a modest scale adjustment. Review the preview before saving and inspect several pages afterward.

Move the HTML file together with its generated asset directory. The complete-page format can alter original link structure, and server-side or interactive content may not be available offline.
A popup or chat widget covers the plan
Close it before capturing. If it reappears, reload, dismiss it again, and capture promptly. An automated service can hide selected elements before rendering.
The saved file is unreadable at normal size
Increase the browser zoom or device pixel ratio for an image capture, or use PDF when selectable text and pagination are more important than one continuous image. Do not rely on a thumbnail preview to judge legibility.

Performance, reliability, and records practice
Long pages, high-resolution output, lazy-loaded media, and network-dependent widgets all increase capture time or file size. Capture only the full page or element you actually need, wait for the required content rather than an arbitrary long pause, and use a chosen viewport and pixel ratio consistently so files remain comparable across terms.
Keep the original URL and capture metadata even when the saved artifact looks complete. A later reader needs to know which plan version was recorded and when. For sensitive campus material, follow institutional access controls instead of placing the file in an unapproved personal folder. Before sharing, verify that the plan does not contain information restricted to a particular campus group.
