You need a Memory Stick Duo in the PSP to save progress.
How to save your game
- While you are in the field, press Circle to open the Command Ring.
- Choose System.
- Use the save function in that menu.
The System menu also lets you retrieve or delete saved data. A save records details including your current location, total playing time, money, and party information.

How to load a saved game
- At the opening animation, press Start to open the Main Menu.
- Choose Load to resume from the last saved point.
The manual says saved data can be loaded from the same Memory Stick Duo or another Memory Stick Duo containing previously saved Astonishia Story data.

The PSP manual specifies a Memory Stick Duo in the console’s memory slot for saving game settings and progress. If you need storage today, check compatibility with your exact PSP model before buying a card or an adapter; the manual does not address modern adapter compatibility.

What the manual does not specify
The manual does not state how many save slots are available, whether saving overwrites an existing file, or whether save behavior differs by location. Its instructions apply to the North American PSP release, product code ULUS-10083, and do not establish procedures for emulators, remakes, or later ports.
