For a single movie-poster archive page, the dependable method is to let every poster load, scroll through the page to trigger lazy images, then use your desktop browser’s Print → Save as PDF. Check the preview for the final rows, captions and backgrounds before saving. For wide grids, scrollable panels or collections spread across many linked pages, use a converter with controls for image loading, page size and site depth instead of relying on the browser’s default print stylesheet.
Choose the capture method before you start
The right workflow depends on whether you need one rendered page, several linked archive pages, or an offline copy that is not a PDF. These methods solve different problems:

If the archive is one long index, start with the browser procedure below. If it is a catalog whose posters open on separate URLs, plan a page list and use a multi-page converter or an API rather than trying to print every page manually.
Prepare the archive so posters actually render
Open the canonical page
Use the archive’s index or the individual poster page you intend to preserve. Avoid a search-results view that changes as you scroll. Keep the original URL; it is the attribution and the easiest way to find a higher-resolution source later.

Trigger lazy-loaded images
Many galleries load thumbnails only when they approach the viewport. Scroll steadily from the top to the bottom, pause where a row is still blank, and wait for the images to appear. Do not print while a spinner, skeleton card or broken-image icon is visible. If the page has “load more” controls, activate them until the collection is complete, then scroll through the newly added rows as well.
Reduce interference without changing the archive
Close dialogs and expandable menus that are not part of the collection. If a cookie or newsletter panel covers posters, dismiss it before printing. Keep captions and navigation that provide context, but hide purely decorative or obstructive elements only when your browser or converter offers a print-specific option. Record the capture date because an online archive can change after you save it.
Save one full archive page from a desktop browser
- Finish loading. Scroll through the entire archive, wait for all poster images and captions, and return to the top if the page’s layout shifts while images decode.
- Open print. Press
Ctrl+Pon Windows orCommand+Pon macOS. A browser can usually “print” a page to a PDF. - Select a PDF destination. Choose Save as PDF on macOS or a PDF printer such as Microsoft Print to PDF on Windows.
- Match the page to the grid. Choose portrait for a narrow, vertical list and landscape for a broad poster grid. Set a paper size appropriate to your readers, then reduce margins if the preview clips columns. Keep scale at 100% initially; lower it only when the last column is cut off.
- Inspect the complete preview. Jump to the last page. Confirm that the final poster row, captions, page numbers and any intended links are present. A preview that ends early usually means images never loaded or a scrollable container was not expanded.
- Save with provenance. Use a filename such as
archive-name_2026-10-17.pdf. Store the source URL and capture date in your notes or document metadata.
Make poster art and colored panels appear in Microsoft Edge
If Edge’s preview shows text but blank poster rectangles, open More settings and enable Background graphics. Poster art implemented as CSS backgrounds otherwise may be omitted. Recheck the preview after changing the option because it can increase page count and file size.

When navigation, advertisements or utility controls overwhelm the print layout, open the page in Immersive Reader first, when Edge offers it, and print the simplified view. This can improve readability but may remove captions, links or gallery controls; compare the reader view with the original before choosing it for an archival copy.

- include or omit images and retain page backgrounds;
- expand scrollable blocks so a poster list hidden inside a fixed-height panel is not truncated;
- set paper size, orientation, margins and scaling;
- create bookmarks and PDF tags for a more navigable document.
Preview several pages at different zoom levels. A very wide grid may be more readable as landscape pages with a modest scale reduction than as portrait pages that split each row across sheets.
Capture a collection spread across linked pages
For an archive whose posters live at separate URLs, use Acrobat desktop’s website capture rather than printing each page by hand. Select the desired website levels, then constrain the crawl with Stay on same path or Stay on same server. These boundaries prevent links to unrelated sections from entering the PDF. Review the resulting bookmarks and page order; a crawler follows links, not your visual idea of “the archive,” so navigation pages, duplicate sizes and external links may need to be excluded.

Use Safari Web Archive as a companion, not a PDF replacement
Safari’s File → Save As includes a Web Archive format. Apple describes it as saving the entire webpage, including graphics and links. It is valuable when you want an offline, browser-specific copy that preserves interactive structure, but it is not a portable PDF. Some websites prevent Safari from saving particular items, so open the saved archive offline and verify that the posters are present before deleting the original download.
Automate PDF printing in a Windows application
If you are embedding this workflow in a Windows desktop app, Microsoft WebView2 exposes PrintToPdf and PrintToPdfStream. These methods silently print the current top-level document to a PDF file or stream. Wait for the page’s own poster-loading logic before calling the print method, otherwise WebView2 can faithfully capture an incomplete gallery. Your application should also preserve the URL and date alongside the output, and surface errors when navigation, script execution or printing fails.
Capture several archive pages without losing order
- Build a source list. Start with the archive index and record each poster URL you are allowed to copy. Remove duplicates and tracking variants.
- Define ordering. Decide whether the PDF follows the archive’s visual order, release year, title or URL order. Write that rule down before capture.
- Use stable loading conditions. For every page, wait for the poster selector or a network-idle state, then allow a short delay for image decoding. A fixed delay alone is less reliable on slow pages.
- Keep page boundaries. Insert a cover or bookmark only when it improves navigation; do not merge pages so tightly that captions appear to belong to the wrong poster.
- Validate the batch. Compare the source count with PDF pages, check several early and late entries, and open links or text at normal zoom. Keep a log of URLs that timed out or returned an access challenge.
When the browser result is poor: symptoms and fixes
Posters are blank or missing
- Cause: lazy loading had not been triggered. Fix: scroll to the bottom, wait for every row, then reopen print preview.
- Cause: the site uses CSS background images. Fix: enable Edge’s Background graphics, or retain backgrounds in Acrobat’s conversion controls.
- Cause: images are inside a fixed-height, scrollable panel. Fix: expand the panel before printing or use a converter that can expand scrollable blocks.
- Cause: the image host blocks the print request. Fix: test the page in a normal tab, confirm the images load without authentication errors, and capture only content you are authorized to access.
The last rows or columns are cut off
Check the final preview page, switch a wide grid to landscape, reduce margins, and adjust scale only after confirming that the page itself contains the rows. A browser may print the visible portion of an overflow container rather than its full scrollable content.

The PDF has text but no colors
Enable background graphics. If the design still changes, the website’s print stylesheet is intentionally replacing the screen layout; use Acrobat’s page-background controls or a rendered capture that supports custom print CSS.
Captions are unreadably small
Do not keep shrinking a dense grid to fit one sheet. Choose a larger paper size, landscape orientation or a one-poster-per-row layout. Verify at normal zoom, not only in a thumbnail overview.
A multi-page capture wanders outside the archive
Constrain the crawl with the same-path or same-server setting, remove unrelated links from the source list, and inspect the first unexpected page before rerunning the job.
The saved file opens but is incomplete
Reopen the PDF in a second viewer, compare its page count with the source, and check the beginning, middle and end. If all viewers show the same omission, recapture after waiting for images or expanding the relevant panel. Keep the incomplete file separately so you can identify what changed.

Rights, attribution and preservation
Saving a PDF does not automatically grant redistribution rights. Check the archive URL’s terms of use, the poster-image licenses and the context in which you plan to share the file. Unless broader rights are explicitly granted, keep the PDF for personal reference. Preserve the source URL and capture date in the filename or metadata so another reader can identify where and when the copy was made.
