That archives the page as the browser prints it. It is not the same thing as your official ticket. For the ticket itself, IRCTC has a separate Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) flow, covered below.
Page capture or ticket PDF: which do you need?
Decide this first, because the two outputs come from different places.

IRCTC’s booking instructions say that after payment and a successful booking, the site shows confirmation details and a Print Reservation Slip button. The ERS can also be printed later from Booked Tickets. IRCTC’s ERS guide for the mobile app describes Save ERS opening a print preview, and Print saving the e-ticket as a PDF.

On travel documents, the Ministry of Railways said in a 17 July 2019 release that e-ticket passengers may carry a printout of the ERS or show the Virtual Reservation Message (VRM)/SMS sent by IRCTC with the vital details. That describes accepted ticket formats. It does not say a browser PDF of the whole booking page counts as the ERS or is required. IRCTC’s terms tie the e-ticket to the printed ERS and authorised personal identification, so follow current IRCTC and railway instructions for your journey. Do not label a page PDF as an official ERS unless it came from IRCTC’s ERS function.

Save the booking page as a PDF in a desktop browser
- Open the booking page and wait until the content you want has finished loading. If it shows booking or account details, make sure they are visible.
- Open Print: Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux, Command+P on macOS, or the browser menu’s Print command.
- Set the destination to Save as PDF (Chrome; see Chrome Help) or Save to PDF (Firefox; see Mozilla Support).
- Check the preview. Choose portrait or landscape, then adjust paper size, scale and margins so columns, labels and booking details are not cut off. Firefox documents controls for paper size, scale, margins, colour mode, headers and footers, and backgrounds. Exact options vary by browser and version.
- Save, then open the file and confirm it has the sections you wanted and the text is legible.
This is ordinary browser printing. The sources do not show that every dynamic element on every live IRCTC screen will print, or that a long page becomes one continuous sheet. Browser printing splits content into paper-sized pages, so inspect the result.
Get the official ERS instead
- Right after booking, use the Print Reservation Slip button on the confirmation page.
- Later, open Booked Tickets on IRCTC and print the ERS from there. Choose Save as PDF as the print destination to keep a file.
- In the mobile app, tap Save ERS to get a print preview, then Print to save the e-ticket as a PDF.
Troubleshooting
The printed layout differs from the screen
Mozilla notes that websites can be set up to look different on paper. Use the print settings to adjust the layout rather than expecting a copy of the screen.

Tables or booking details are clipped
Try landscape, a smaller scale, narrower margins or a different paper size, and re-check the preview after each change.
Backgrounds or colours are missing
Turn on the background option in the print settings if your browser offers one (Firefox lists it).

The page will not look right on a phone
Use a desktop browser for page archiving, or use the app’s Save ERS flow for the ticket.
Browser compatibility
IRCTC’s compatible-browser page lists Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, but the minimum versions it shows are old. Use a current browser and do not treat those thresholds as recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a browser-saved PDF of the booking page valid for travel?
The sources do not say so. The Ministry of Railways named an ERS printout or the IRCTC VRM/SMS as ticket formats. Follow current IRCTC and railway instructions for your journey.
Will the PDF be one long page?
Not necessarily. Browser printing normally splits content into paper-sized pages, and the sources do not promise a single continuous sheet.
