Before you save the claim status
Sign in through the insurer’s official website or app and open the relevant claim-status view. Make sure the page identifies the insurer and shows the claim reference, or a safely masked identifier, along with the displayed status and any update date. Do not include an OTP, password, full payment-card details or unrelated personal information in a copy you plan to share.

If the page is long, use the insurer’s own download or print option if available. Otherwise, capture each relevant page or section separately. A printout may omit information hidden behind tabs, collapsed sections or content that appears only after scrolling, so inspect it rather than assuming it contains the whole record.
Save the page as a PDF in Chrome
Desktop: Windows, Linux or Mac
- Open the claim-status page in Chrome and press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. Google documents these print controls in its Chrome printing instructions for computers.
- In the print dialog, choose the PDF destination or Save as PDF.
- Inspect the preview. Confirm the insurer, claim reference or masked identifier, status text and displayed date are visible and legible.
- Save the file, then open it and check the saved copy. A descriptive filename such as insurer-claim-status-2026-10-03.pdf can make it easier to find later; that naming format is only an example.
Android Chrome
- Open the status page in Chrome and tap More > Share > Print.
- Select Save as PDF, choose a location and save the file.
- Open the saved PDF and check that the relevant status and identifying context are readable. Google documents this route in its Chrome printing instructions for Android.
These are the verified Chrome paths; other browsers may use different menu names. If printing is unavailable or the preview omits important content, look for the insurer’s own download/print option or capture the relevant sections separately.

Build a useful complaint record
Treat the PDF as one item in a chronological record, not as the entire complaint. Keep a private, unchanged copy. For your working record, note the insurer, claim or reference number where appropriate, the capture date and time, the page URL, and the related emails, letters, acknowledgements or document-submission receipts. The URL and timestamp are practical recordkeeping advice, not an IRDAI-mandated format.
When you write to the insurer or regulator, explain what the status page shows, when you captured it, what action or explanation you asked the insurer for, and what reply or delay concerns you. Include relevant claim acknowledgements, grievance acknowledgements, written replies and evidence that requested documents were submitted. IRDAI asks complainants to provide complete details and warns that missing required information may prevent registration; see its Grievance Redressal Mechanism.

If the page contains sensitive information, retain the original privately and prepare a redacted copy for wider sharing. Do not redact the only copy you keep. This is prudent handling advice, not a specific requirement stated on the cited IRDAI pages.
What a browser PDF can—and cannot—show
A browser-generated PDF is a record of the page as rendered on your device at capture time. It can help explain what you saw and when you say you saw it. The cited IRDAI guidance does not establish that a browser PDF alone authenticates the insurer’s internal records, is incapable of alteration, or must be accepted by every decision-maker. Keep it alongside dated insurer communications and claim documents, and avoid describing it as a certified record.

IRDAI defines a grievance as a written expression of dissatisfaction, including communication by email or other electronic scripts. Its Grievance Cell says an inquiry or request alone does not fall within that definition. If you are raising a complaint, make the dissatisfaction and the service issue clear rather than sending only a status-page attachment.
Escalate through the insurer and IRDAI
- First submit the complaint to your insurer and keep the acknowledgement and any written response.
- If you are dissatisfied with the response, or do not receive a response within a reasonable period, IRDAI says you may approach it. Its grievance guidance describes Bima Bharosa, email, phone and physical correspondence as routes; check the live official instructions before filing.
- For a Bima Bharosa complaint, retain the confirmation email and IRDAI token number. IRDAI says the token can be used to track the complaint. The official Functions page describes the complaint and tracking process.
The Bima Bharosa FAQ states that an unresolved grievance after two weeks, or dissatisfaction with the insurer’s response, can be taken to the IRDAI grievance cell. Because portal instructions and timelines can change, verify the current official filing guidance rather than relying on an old saved page.

IRDAI lists [email protected], toll-free numbers 155255 and 1800 4254 732, and postal communication on its grievance guidance page. Use the current official page to confirm the right route and what documents to submit.
