There is no documented SingleFileZ setting that guarantees a fix for a browser out-of-memory error. Try the documented speed options, then reduce how much of the page you capture; treat both as experiments, not memory fixes. If the problem continues, SingleFileZ’s project says it has been merged into SingleFile, which supports self-extracting saves through its file-format setting.
Try the documented speed settings
SingleFileZ’s FAQ says its default configuration is optimized for small saved pages, which can slow the save process. It identifies two options that can reduce processing time and CPU work, but does not say they reduce memory use or prevent crashes.

- Open SingleFileZ’s options.
- Under HTML content, turn off remove hidden elements.
- Under Stylesheets, turn off remove unused styles.
- Retry the save and note whether the failure changes.
These settings may produce a larger output. They are worth trying because the FAQ documents them as ways to speed processing—not as a guaranteed out-of-memory remedy. SingleFileZ FAQ

Capture less than the whole page
If processing an entire page keeps failing, try saving only selected content or a selected frame from the extension’s context menu. This reduces the scope of the capture, but Mozilla’s listing does not promise that it will fix memory exhaustion.

Wait until the page has fully loaded before starting. If processing becomes stuck, clicking the toolbar button again cancels it. Neither action is a memory-management feature; they are workflow guidance from the Mozilla add-on listing.
Choose whether completeness or speed matters more
The FAQ says disabling HTML content > remove frames or Images > save deferred images can make saving faster, but some frames or images may then be missing. These are completeness trade-offs, not documented memory controls. Leave them enabled when preserving those resources matters; consider disabling them only if a faster, potentially incomplete save is acceptable.

Use SingleFile for current self-extracting saves
The SingleFileZ project repository says the extension was completely merged into SingleFile. For current self-extracting saves, it points users to SingleFile’s file-format setting or to importing existing settings. SingleFileZ project repository
If the extension repeatedly fails, record your browser and extension versions, operating system, the page involved, and whether the failure occurs before or during processing. The reviewed project documentation does not establish a memory limit, page-size threshold, device-specific cause, or guaranteed workaround. The extension may fetch resources in the page even when they are not displayed or cached, but the FAQ does not quantify how that affects memory.

Check that the saved page opens
SingleFileZ’s FAQ says JavaScript must be enabled for saved pages. It also describes local-file restrictions: Chrome needs the extension installed or a command-line switch to open such files from the filesystem, and Firefox and Safari have local-file caveats. If a save completes but will not open as expected, check the FAQ’s browser-specific guidance. SingleFileZ FAQ
