Open the downloaded image from Chrome’s download shelf or your Windows Downloads folder. Check that it includes the top, bottom, and the sections you need.
Choose the right kind of capture
| What you need | Chrome option | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Everything on the webpage | Device Mode > More options > Capture a full size screenshot | A full-page image |
| One specific page element | Select the element in DevTools, then use Capture node screenshot | An image of that element, which can include content below the fold |
| A paginated document for reading, printing, or sharing | Chrome’s print-to-PDF workflow | A PDF, not a screenshot |
| Only what is currently visible | Use a viewport screenshot workflow | An image of the visible viewport, not the whole page |
Chrome documents full-size capture separately from viewport capture. Its DevTools release notes describe node screenshots as a way to capture a selected element, including content below the fold. DevTools release notes Chrome screenshot methods

Use Chrome Headless from the command line
For a repeatable or script-driven capture, Chrome Headless provides command-line options. The screenshot command saves screenshot.png in the current working directory; the PDF command saves output.pdf. These are different outputs, so use the screenshot option when you need an image.

What to check if the screenshot is incomplete
-
Content is missing near the bottom: The page may load content only after scrolling or waiting. Scroll through the page, wait for the content to appear, then capture again.
-
The image shows only the visible screen: Confirm you chose Capture a full size screenshot, not a viewport screenshot.

A specific section is all you need: Capture the selected element with Capture node screenshot instead of making a full-page image.

The page is unusually tall, dynamic, or behind a login: Chrome’s documentation describes the capture commands but does not guarantee complete rendering for every site or page state. Verify the saved image, and retry after the page has finished loading.
-
You need pages for printing or reading: Use print-to-PDF; a screenshot is a single image rather than a paginated document.
