Use Chrome DevTools’ Capture full size screenshot command to save a GST Portal page beyond the visible browser window. It captures the page as an image; if you need an official return, preview or data file, check the relevant GST Portal workflow for its own download option.
Capture the whole page in Chrome
- Open the GST Portal page in Chrome and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open DevTools by pressing F12 on many Windows or Linux setups, or right-click the page and choose Inspect.
- Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on macOS.
- Search for screenshot, then choose Capture full size screenshot. Chrome saves the resulting image.
Chrome’s documentation says the full-size option includes content that is not currently visible in the viewport. The separate Capture screenshot command captures only the current viewport. You do not need an extension for this basic task. Chrome DevTools: Capture a screenshot

Find the full-size option another way
You can also open Device mode, select More options, and choose Capture a full size screenshot. The same menu includes Capture screenshot for the visible view. Menu placement and keyboard behavior can vary by Chrome version; if you cannot find the option, use the DevTools Command Menu search. Chrome DevTools: 4 ways to capture screenshots
Check whether an image is the right record
A screenshot records the rendered appearance of a page. It is not a portal-generated PDF, spreadsheet, or filing record. GST Portal downloads are specific to a workflow or data type, so do not assume a download option shown for one form exists on every page.

- For appearance: use Chrome’s full-size screenshot when you need a visual record of the rendered page.
- For a form preview: check the relevant form workflow. The GSTR-5A FAQ describes downloading a PDF preview after entering form details. GST Portal: FAQs—Form GSTR-5A
- For data or return-related files: use the portal’s own download when the workflow provides one. The GSTR-1 guide, for example, describes downloading e-invoice details in Excel. Review the saved image
Open the screenshot and check that it contains the content you need before using or sharing it. Chrome documents the full-size capture command, but that does not guarantee every dynamic, lazy-loaded, embedded, or independently scrollable element on every portal page will appear as intended.
Troubleshooting
- The image shows only the visible screen: you may have chosen Capture screenshot. Repeat the capture and select Capture full size screenshot.
- You cannot find the command: open the DevTools Command Menu and search for screenshot. The Device mode menu is another route; labels or placement may differ between Chrome versions.
- Some content is missing: wait for the relevant page content to load, capture again, and inspect the image. Content inside an independently scrolling area may not be represented as part of the page’s full-length capture.
- You need a PDF or spreadsheet rather than an image: check the controls for that specific GST form or data workflow. The portal’s available downloads are not universal.
