Turn off your Galaxy A20, insert the SIM-eject pin straight into the tray’s eject hole, and pull the tray straight out. Lift out the SIM, then slide the tray back in straight until it is seated. Never force the pin or tray.
Before you start: power off and identify your model
Turn the phone off before handling the SIM tray. Both AT&T’s Galaxy A20 instructions and Verizon’s guidance specify powering down first. If a case blocks access to the tray, remove it.

Find the combined SIM and microSD tray and its small eject hole. AT&T describes the tray on the left side, while Verizon describes it at the upper-left edge with the screen facing up. The location can vary by model or carrier version, so use the tray and its eject hole—not an unrelated opening—as your guide.

For the US unlocked SM-A205U1, Samsung lists a Nano-SIM (4FF) and microSD support on its Galaxy A20 support page. Samsung’s manual says to use only a nano-SIM. If you have a regional or carrier-specific version, check that model’s manual for its card type and tray layout.

Remove the SIM card

Hold the supplied SIM-eject pin perpendicular to the tray’s eject hole and press gently until the tray pops out slightly. The Galaxy A20 manual text warns that the pin should be perpendicular to avoid damage. Do not angle it, force it, or push it into another opening.

Pull the tray straight out. Lift the SIM from its position, noting its orientation if you plan to put it back. The tray may also hold a microSD card; avoid disturbing it if you only intend to remove the SIM.

Reinstall the SIM and tray

Place the nano-SIM into the tray’s SIM-shaped recess, matching the cut corner and the orientation shown for your model. Card orientation is not established for every A20 version; for example, the Japan-specific au SCV46 manual specifies gold contacts facing down. Follow your device’s own manual rather than applying that orientation universally.

Keep the card flat and secure in the tray, then slide the tray straight into the slot until it sits flush and secure. AT&T says its tray should click into place. If it resists, pull it back out and check that the SIM is correctly seated; do not force it.

Turn the phone back on. If you removed the SIM while troubleshooting, check whether the phone detects it and has service. Reseating the card does not guarantee a network issue will be resolved.
If the tray will not release

Confirm you are pressing the small eject hole on the SIM/microSD tray, not a microphone or other opening.

Keep the eject pin straight and press gently. The au SCV46 manual cautions that angled insertion can cause damage or malfunction.

If the supplied pin is missing, Verizon mentions a paper clip as an alternative, but a purpose-made SIM-eject pin is the safer, more controlled choice. Avoid sharp or oversized objects.

If the tray is bent, jammed, or still will not come out with gentle straight pressure, stop rather than prying. Consult support for the exact regional or carrier model.
