Yes. One VPS can run two separate 24/7 YouTube music streams if it has enough sustained upload capacity and encoder resources for both feeds. Treat them as two independent encoder outputs: each needs its own feed configuration and the matching YouTube stream key and server URL. YouTube Help currently allows up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key, subject to both limits at once.
What you need before starting
- Two YouTube channels that are eligible to livestream. Each must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, according to YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and limits guidance.
- A VPS whose sustained outbound bandwidth and compute resources can handle both streams at their chosen settings. YouTube does not publish a VPS CPU, memory, or provider-egress requirement for this workload.
- Two distinct music programs or playlists, plus the rights needed to stream every track. A VPS, encoder, or stream key does not grant music rights.
- An encoder that can run two separately configured output jobs, along with a way to supervise and monitor each job.
Check channel and stream-key limits
YouTube Help states that a channel may have up to 10 active streams and a stream key up to 3 active streams; both limits apply at the same time. For two different channels, use each channel’s own live setup and corresponding stream key. Avoid sharing keys or assuming that one incoming feed can carry two different music programs.

Create or schedule a live event for each channel, then copy the server URL and stream key shown for that event or stream setup. Keep each key private: do not put it in a public repository, screenshot, shared script, or exposed log. If a key is exposed, treat it as a security issue and rotate it in YouTube Studio.
Configure two separate feed outputs
- Prepare the first channel. In YouTube Studio, open the channel’s live-stream setup, create or schedule its broadcast, and copy the server URL and stream key for that feed.
- Prepare the second channel. Repeat in the other channel’s YouTube Studio. Record its server URL and key separately from the first channel’s.
- Set up two encoder jobs on the VPS. Each job should read the intended program and send it to the matching YouTube endpoint with that channel’s key. Keep inputs and output settings distinct so the programs cannot be crossed accidentally.
- Start and verify the first feed. Check its status and preview in YouTube Live Control Room, including video, audio, and ingestion health.
- Start and verify the second feed. Check it independently in its own Live Control Room. Confirm that each channel receives the correct music and that both outputs remain healthy after both jobs are running.
- Supervise each process. Use an appropriate process supervisor or watchdog to detect an exited encoder and restart it according to your operational policy. YouTube’s documentation does not prescribe an FFmpeg command, process manager, or restart policy, so validate implementation details against the installed encoder and host.
Google’s API guide distinguishes an incoming liveStream—the feed and its settings—from a liveBroadcast, the event/watch page. A stream can be bound to multiple broadcasts, but that shares the same incoming content; it does not create two different music feeds. For separate programs, configure separate incoming feeds. Choose ingestion settings for each stream
Set the profile independently for each output, then check the current YouTube recommendations for its codec, resolution, and frame rate. YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a 2-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed 4 seconds. The platform lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. Its guidance lists 128 Kbps for stereo audio and 44.1 kHz stereo sampling. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrates for the exact bitrate appropriate to each profile.
For example, YouTube’s cited settings table recommends 6 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p60 and lists 17 Mbps for that codec and resolution. Those figures apply to that profile; do not reuse them for another codec, resolution, or frame rate. RTMPS uses SSL/TLS; Google’s RTMPS ingestion guidance specifies a valid endpoint and path, port 443, and the server hostname for SNI authentication.

Estimate VPS bandwidth and compute
Both feeds send their own outbound payload. As a planning estimate, add the configured video and audio bitrates for both outputs, then allow additional capacity for protocol overhead and operating headroom. This is an engineering estimate, not a YouTube-published VPS sizing formula; the cited YouTube documentation does not establish CPU, memory, egress, or safety-margin requirements.
Whether the VPS must encode video or can pass through compliant media makes a substantial difference to compute demand. Re-encoding generally adds work; copying already compliant media may avoid that encode workload. Benchmark the actual two-feed configuration on the selected VPS and confirm the provider permits the required sustained outbound traffic. Reassess capacity if you change either stream’s codec, resolution, frame rate, or bitrate.

Monitor stream health and keep a recovery plan
A process that is still running is not proof that YouTube is receiving a usable stream. YouTube’s stream health can flag problems such as low bitrate, frame-rate mismatch, or missing audio. Monitor both encoder jobs and both Live Control Room pages independently, and verify that the audience-facing streams have the right picture and audible program after startup and during operation. - Encoder stopped: Check the process supervisor, encoder exit status, input availability, and VPS resource pressure; restart only the affected job after correcting the cause.
- Low bitrate or unstable ingestion: Check the VPS’s sustained upload capacity and host egress limits. Reduce the affected output’s bitrate or profile if the available capacity cannot reliably support it.
- Frame-rate mismatch: Compare the encoder output with the profile selected in YouTube’s stream setup, then make them agree.
- No audio: Check the source audio track, encoder mapping, and output codec, then confirm audible playback in Live Control Room.
- Wrong program on a channel: Check that each job reads the intended input and uses the matching channel’s server URL and key.
- Authentication failure: Verify that the key and endpoint belong to the intended channel and stream. If the key may have leaked, rotate it rather than continuing to use it.
Plan archives separately from continuous playback
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived when ended. That statement does not establish that a single uninterrupted stream running longer than 12 hours will have a complete archive. If a full replay matters, record the source independently or plan periodic event endings and verify the resulting archive before relying on it. An independent recording also avoids making the YouTube archive your only copy.
