To keep a Gujarati news channel live on YouTube around the clock, verify the channel’s live-stream eligibility, create a stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, and send it from an encoder using YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Then build an editorial handoff, backup, monitoring, and rights-clearance plan around it. YouTube’s archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, so do not promise a complete replay of one unbroken 24-hour broadcast.
Choose what “always-on” means for your newsroom
First decide whether the channel will carry a continuously staffed newsroom program, a schedule combining live bulletins with clearly labelled recorded segments, or a loop of prerecorded video. These are different production models. A prerecorded loop can fill time between bulletins, but it does not report or verify breaking news, and it cannot replace editorial control.

Make the distinction visible to viewers. Label recordings and delayed coverage accurately; show a live indicator only when the program is actually live. Establish who is responsible for approving material and updating the schedule when events change.
Check eligibility and create the YouTube stream
- Verify the channel and check its status. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance says a channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until the planned launch.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one. Set the Gujarati title and description, visibility, thumbnail, and other stream details. A scheduled event can provide a shareable URL and let viewers set reminders.
- Choose the session plan. Set start and end times to match your editorial schedule and archive plan. A continuous feed and a set of shorter sessions have different implications for handovers and replay availability.
- Review the stream details before launch. Confirm the correct channel, event, visibility, title, and thumbnail. Share the scheduled link only after checking that it points to the intended event.
Channel eligibility and event creation are separate from connecting and starting the encoder. YouTube’s “Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder” guide documents these as distinct steps.

Connect an encoder and confirm the incoming feed
An encoder turns the production’s audio and video into a format YouTube can receive. It may be software running on a newsroom computer or standalone hardware in a production chain. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key.
- Get the server URL and stream key from the stream’s settings in Live Control Room.
- Enter both in the encoder. Check that the encoder is configured for the intended stream and that its video and audio inputs are correct.
- Start the encoder output. Wait for YouTube to detect the incoming feed and show the preview or connection status in Live Control Room.
- Check picture and sound in the preview. Confirm that the right program is being sent, audio is present and intelligible, and graphics are legible.
- Use the Live Control Room’s Go Live control when required. Starting the encoder sends the feed; it is not necessarily the same action as making the event live to viewers.
Treat the stream key like a password: limit access to staff who need it, do not include it in public screenshots or broadly shared handover documents, and rotate it if exposed. The key is a connection credential, not a substitute for access controls on newsroom accounts.
Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate from the actual production chain
The source material here does not establish a universal bitrate or a single correct resolution and frame rate for every Gujarati news stream. These choices depend on the cameras and encoder, the desired output, and the available upload connection. Use the current recommendations shown in YouTube’s Live Control Room and the encoder’s supported settings; test the actual combination from the venue before launch rather than treating an institutional network figure as a YouTube preset.
NIC’s Government of India webcast requirements cite dedicated bandwidth of 2–4 Mbps per stream for the specific hired-agency setup described there. That is not a universal YouTube bitrate recommendation or a guarantee that a newsroom connection at that speed will support its chosen format reliably. Test with capacity headroom and monitor the actual uplink under production conditions.

Choose software or hardware for the job
| Approach | Best fit | What to assess |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder on a newsroom computer | A studio that already has an operator and needs a configurable production workflow | Restart and automation behavior, computer load, scene switching, local recording, operator workload, and support |
| Standalone hardware encoder | A dedicated production chain or newsroom with compatible broadcast equipment | Input and output compatibility, monitoring, redundancy, credential handling, support, and total cost |
| Cloud processing or looping service | Remote operations or continuous prerecorded blocks | Whether the service handles the actual live-news workflow, control latency, rights, continuity, storage, availability in your region, and cost |
YouTube’s encoder guidance identifies AWS Elemental MediaLive as a broadcast-grade live-processing option and Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. Those descriptions identify categories to investigate; they do not establish that either service suits a particular Gujarati newsroom. NIC’s webcast requirements likewise apply to the institutional service scenario it describes.
Plan continuity, handovers, and monitoring
A 24/7 channel needs an accountable person or shift role for stream health, not just an encoder left running. Assign responsibility for the program, technical monitoring, and breaking-news decisions, including during staff changes and overnight hours.
- Prepare a standby slate or alternate feed. Decide what viewers should see if the main program or incoming signal fails.
- Test recovery. Rehearse reconnecting the encoder and restarting it after a failure; document what the operator should check before taking the feed live again.
- Monitor sound as well as picture. A visible picture does not prove that audio is present or usable.
- Evaluate independent backups. For meaningful resilience, assess backup power, a separate internet path, alternate encoder equipment or software, and a local recording. A backup that shares the same power or network failure may not provide useful redundancy.
- Keep a runbook. Record who starts and ends sessions, where credentials are stored, how to switch to the backup, and how to reach the ISP or production vendor.
- Identify the failure point. Give operators a way to distinguish a newsroom uplink or encoder failure from a problem on the platform side before they escalate or change the setup.
NIC’s checklist highlights network path, encoder, and bandwidth as dependencies in its hired-webcast arrangement. Neither that checklist nor YouTube’s encoder workflow guarantees uninterrupted service for a separate newsroom operation. Test the full chain and document its recovery steps.
Plan replays before committing to a 24-hour session
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not support promising that a single uninterrupted 24-hour stream will be saved in full as one replay.

Decide whether to schedule shorter, editorially coherent sessions or make a separate recording of the program. Before relying on an archive for viewers, confirm the current behavior in YouTube Studio and check that the recording process you chose actually captures the material you need.
Make the broadcast usable on phones and TVs
YouTube supports horizontal and vertical live presentations. Vertical live streams can be discovered in the Shorts feed. If you use dual streaming through an encoder, YouTube describes an RTMP(S) path and a second stream key for third-party encoder dual streaming. Current controls and feature behavior can change, so check the platform’s current guidance before building a workflow around a particular display or monetization feature.
Test the actual layouts before launch. A vertical output may use a center crop, fit-to-width, or stacked composition; each can frame a newsroom shot differently. Check the ticker, lower thirds, captions, logos, and any safety-critical text in both orientations. Keep important information away from edges that may be cropped or obscured on a particular screen.

Use a consistent channel identity and readable Gujarati graphics. Provide captions where available, and make the bulletin schedule clear enough that viewers can tell when the next update is expected. The vertical live-feed feature table in YouTube’s guidance also indicates differences from horizontal live, including that vertical live feeds do not have live ad midrolls or pre-rolls; verify current behavior before relying on it.

Clear rights and follow YouTube’s rules
YouTube says live content must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. A newsroom should keep a clearance ledger for every kind of material used in the stream, including:
- Reporter and field footage, including material supplied by freelancers
- Agency or third-party news feeds
- Music, clips, and archival footage
- Graphics, photographs, and other visual assets
- Guest contributions and remote interviews
India’s Copyright Act, 1957, section 2(dd), defines “broadcast” to include communication to the public by wireless diffusion or by wire, including a rebroadcast. A news purpose alone does not document permission for each asset. Whether an exception applies to a specific use depends on the facts and is not resolved by the general definition; obtain rights advice for material whose permission is uncertain.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check Indian permissions against the channel’s actual operation
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Broadcasting Wing material concerns matters including uplinking and downlinking of TV channels and satellite newsgathering systems. NIC’s webcast material describes government webcast services and their technical requirements. Neither source, by itself, determines whether a particular YouTube-only Gujarati publisher needs a specific permission.

Or let it run in the cloud
For prerecorded Gujarati bulletins or other cleared video blocks, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service that loops uploaded videos; it does not take a live camera feed or run a newsroom’s reporting and editorial operation. The basic workflow is:
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud.
Your computer can be off while the cloud stream runs. StreamNeo says uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no re-encoding or quality tiers. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. Every plan has the same product; only billing length changes. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.
Use this for prerecorded blocks, not as a replacement for the live newsroom workflow above. See StreamNeo or start the free day with no card.
