Yes—you can run an audio-led YouTube radio station over JioFiber if your connection can sustain the encoder’s upload bitrate, your channel is eligible for live streaming, and you have the rights to broadcast every track. You’ll need a computer or encoder to send the audio with a simple video feed to YouTube Live; a static station image is enough as a practical visual. Test the connection and stream before announcing a schedule.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has no live-stream restriction within the previous 90 days, and meets YouTube’s minimum age requirement of 16 for streaming. See YouTube’s live-streaming activation guidance.
- A computer running a streaming encoder, or another compatible encoder, connected to JioFiber.
- Your radio program audio and a video feed, such as a station graphic or simple visualizer. An audio-led stream still sends video to YouTube.
- Permission for every piece of music and other third-party content in the stream. A music purchase or a license for ordinary on-demand videos does not by itself establish permission for a continuous livestream.
For an encoder-based broadcast, YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion and recommends RTMPS. In practice, use the server and stream-key details shown in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room rather than constructing an ingestion address yourself.

Check whether your JioFiber upload can sustain the stream
Judge your connection by measured upload performance where and when the streaming computer will run—not by the plan name alone. Jio’s plan comparison page has shown examples of 30 Mbps, 100 Mbps and 150 Mbps plans with matching advertised upload and download rates, but the available plans and rates can vary by location and change over time. Confirm your current local plan on Jio’s plan page, then test your own connection.

- Run a speed test from the streaming computer, preferably at the time you expect to broadcast.
- Repeat while the household is using the connection normally. Other devices and uploads can reduce the headroom available to your encoder.
- Choose a video bitrate that leaves room for audio and ordinary connection variation. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and setting a quality that the connection can sustain.
A wired Ethernet connection from a compatible router to the host computer is an optional reliability measure if Wi-Fi is inconsistent where the computer sits. It does not increase your subscribed rate or guarantee uninterrupted service. Jio’s JioFiber FAQ can help with service questions, but actual performance still depends on your local connection and simultaneous traffic.

Configure the YouTube stream and encoder
1. Create the stream and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to open the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule the broadcast and copy the server and stream-key details provided for the encoder.
- Enter those details in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if it is exposed.
YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains how encoder streams work. The exact interface may vary as YouTube updates Studio.
2. Start with modest video settings
For a station whose main value is audio and whose image is static or lightly animated, 720p at 30 fps is a reasonable starting point if you want a video feed. YouTube’s current H.264 recommendations list 3 Mbps for 720p30 and 5 Mbps for 1080p30. These are encoder ingestion recommendations, not a promise about each viewer’s playback quality.

For a mostly static image, increasing resolution may contribute less to the listener’s experience than steady, clean audio. If your upload is constrained, lower the video bitrate or resolution rather than consuming all available capacity.

3. Use RTMPS and verify the outgoing program
YouTube recommends RTMPS, which protects the connection with SSL. Its RTMPS ingestion documentation specifies YouTube’s RTMPS address and port 443; most creators can use the connection details supplied in Live Control Room. Before going live, check that the encoder is sending the intended visual and audio, and listen to the output—not just the source file or local playback.

Build and test the radio program
Prepare the visual and audio
Pair the station audio with a static branded image showing the station or program name, or use a lightweight audio visualizer. This is presentation advice, not a YouTube technical requirement. If you have a live presenter, test the microphone separately and balance speech against the music. Use the encoder’s audio monitor or a private test stream to catch silence, clipping and uneven levels.
Test the real broadcast conditions
- Test with the type of music, speech and visual movement the station will actually use; a silent test image does not reveal every issue.
- Check the Live Control Room for healthy ingestion and watch the encoder for dropped frames or connection warnings.
- Listen on another device to confirm the public-facing audio is present and balanced, and verify the image is correct.
- If quality falters, reduce video resolution or bitrate, pause competing uploads, and test again before promoting a regular schedule.
YouTube recommends realistic pre-stream testing and monitoring stream health while live. A speed-test result is only a snapshot; it does not guarantee a stable connection for a long broadcast.

Clear music rights before broadcasting
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the broadcaster to have the necessary rights for use on Google services, including applicable music and public-performance rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; it may replace the stream image, interrupt the broadcast or terminate it. See YouTube’s terms and its copyright guidance for live streams.
A license is not automatically enough to prevent a Content ID interruption. If you have licensed third-party material, YouTube says to ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm that the license covers continuous live transmission, the relevant territory, any archived copy of the stream, and allowlisting where required.
YouTube Creator Music is not a substitute for radio livestream rights: its usage details say tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams. The described availability is for U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program, with expansion outside the U.S. pending. Check Creator Music usage details rather than assuming a track can be used in a live radio program.
Connection and broadcast troubleshooting
