The most defensible format is your own gameplay shaped into distinct episodes with commentary, instruction or analysis. Replaying minimally changed footage—especially somebody else’s—can create copyright and channel-monetization risks; permission to use footage does not by itself guarantee monetization.
Decide what “rerun” means for your channel
“Rerun” can describe several different formats. They do not carry the same rights or originality risks, so settle on a format before recording or uploading.

A safer editorial approach is to give each episode a clear purpose—for example, a narrated challenge, a tutorial, a route explanation, a match breakdown or a post-game analysis. That is a practical recommendation based on YouTube’s guidance, not a promise of monetization approval.
Check the game’s commercial-use rules before you record
YouTube says game monetization depends on the commercial-use rights granted by the game’s publisher. There is no blanket permission that applies to every game, and owning or playing a game does not by itself establish the right to use its content commercially. Check the current policy for the specific title and publisher before planning a monetized channel. See YouTube’s video game and software content guidance.

- Look for rules covering monetized videos and livestreams, not just personal uploads.
- Check whether the publisher restricts in-game music, requires attribution, or limits coverage of unreleased or competitive content.
- Do not assume that disabling a soundtrack resolves every rights issue; follow the publisher’s actual terms.
- If the policy is unclear, do not treat uncertainty as permission.
YouTube’s guidance warns that “Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.” It also says video game content may be monetized when “the associated step-by-step commentary is strictly tied to the live action being shown and provides instructional or educational value.” Those statements describe YouTube’s monetization guidance, not a legal ruling or a guarantee that a particular channel will qualify.
Plan a cyber café session around permission and the PC’s limits
Before signing in, recording or connecting anything, ask the operator whether the specific PC and venue allow the full workflow. A public-use computer is not automatically available for streaming or creator work, and its software, storage and network capacity cannot be assumed.

- Ask whether you may sign in to your YouTube account and use recording or streaming software.
- Confirm whether USB headsets, microphones, controllers, removable drives or other peripherals are permitted, and whether any software installation is allowed.
- Ask where recordings may be saved, how long files can remain on the PC, and whether large uploads or long broadcasts are permitted on the café network.
- Check that you can capture your own commentary and gameplay without recording other customers or exposing their information.
- Agree on a session plan that fits the café’s time limits and the actual PC’s capabilities; do not assume it can encode or upload a long session reliably.
A USB headset with a microphone may be a practical way to record original commentary, but it is optional—not a YouTube requirement or a tested product recommendation. Ask first whether the café permits it and whether it works with that PC. Buying equipment will not solve a venue restriction.
Use a repeatable, rights-aware production workflow
- Choose one episode objective. Decide what a viewer will learn or enjoy: a challenge, a mechanic explained, a strategy comparison, a route, or analysis of a match. Avoid making a sequence of near-identical uploads whose only difference is the title.
- Verify rights for that game and session. Review the publisher’s current commercial-use rules and decide how to handle game audio. Do not add commercial music or another creator’s broadcast unless you have the necessary rights.
- Confirm the café setup before opening accounts or files. Get permission for the software, account sign-in, recording, storage, peripherals and network use. Check that the PC can do what your chosen recording or live workflow requires.
- Capture original contribution. Explain decisions as they happen, teach a mechanic, narrate a challenge or add analysis that changes how viewers understand the gameplay. Commentary should relate to what is on screen rather than being unrelated filler.
- Review the complete episode before publishing. Check the picture, commentary and audio; remove material you do not have rights to use and make sure the finished episode delivers its stated purpose. A short edit or new title does not necessarily make a repetitive upload meaningfully original.
- Publish with accurate context. Use a title and description that say what the episode actually contains. Do not imply that an old recording is new gameplay, or that a permission or publisher policy guarantees monetization.
- Close the session safely. Follow the café’s file-retention rules, sign out of personal accounts, and remove local copies only as agreed with the operator. Do not leave account credentials or private files accessible to the next user.
YouTube’s public guidance does not establish universal recording or livestream encoder settings, such as a specific bitrate, resolution or keyframe interval. These depend on the game, capture software, computer and available connection. Check the software’s current guidance and what the café actually supports instead of applying a made-up preset.

Protect live broadcasts and archived streams
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can lead to a warning, replacement of the stream with a placeholder, interruption or termination; an archived stream may receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
- Use gameplay and audio only in ways permitted by the publisher and other relevant rights holders.
- Avoid playing commercial music or rebroadcasting another person’s stream without permission.
- If YouTube displays a warning or restriction, read the notice in YouTube Studio and address the identified material. Repeating the same broadcast without resolving the issue may lead to the same interruption.
- Review the archive too: a broadcast ending without interruption does not establish that the archived video is free of claims.
Understand monetization, reused content and ad suitability
Copyright permission and YouTube Partner Program review are separate questions. YouTube’s channel monetization policy says reused content can affect a channel when republished material lacks significant original commentary, substantive modification or educational or entertainment value. Review is channel-wide and may consider videos, channel description, titles and descriptions. Having permission from a footage owner does not automatically satisfy this policy. YouTube’s 2025 clarification says “repetitious content” was renamed “inauthentic content” to make clear that repetitive or mass-produced material is included; it did not change the reused-content policy. Gaming uploads are also subject to advertiser-friendly rules. Audio, graphics, text, thumbnails and the focal gameplay subject matter can affect ad suitability. A format that is eligible for monetization does not guarantee ads on every video; see YouTube’s gaming and monetisation guidance.

- Commentary explains choices or events as they happen.
- Instruction teaches a mechanic or strategy instead of merely showing play.
- Analysis gives viewers a reason to watch this episode rather than an unchanged repeat.
- Each upload has a distinct purpose, rather than a mass-produced sequence with superficial changes.
These are ways to make authorship and viewer value clearer, not a checklist that guarantees approval.

Account for the Indian cyber café setting
India’s Information Technology (Guidelines for Cyber Cafe) Rules, 2011 describe venue registration, user identification and recordkeeping, including retention for at least one year of specified user-identification records and access logs. The rules concern the cyber café and its operation; they do not establish that a particular café permits your creator workflow. Later amendments, state or union-territory implementation, and current local requirements are not resolved here. Ask the operator about the venue’s current procedures and consult the relevant local authority if you need to establish what applies. The text is reproduced by WIPO Lex.
