You can run a Malayalam movie songs playlist live on YouTube only if you have the necessary rights to stream every recording in the playlist. Clear those rights in writing first, including the territories and any replay or monetization rights you need. Then create a YouTube live stream, connect an encoder with the stream URL and key, and monitor the broadcast. A working setup does not grant music rights, and YouTube’s automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours—not a guaranteed, uninterrupted all-day broadcast.
Can you stream Malayalam movie songs live on YouTube?
Yes, if you have permission for each specific song recording or it is in the public domain, and that permission covers your intended livestream. A song being available online, purchasable, or credited to its film, composer, singer, or label does not by itself grant streaming rights. YouTube says music marked “free” may still be flagged, and its Content ID system cannot tell whether you obtained permission elsewhere (YouTube Help: Tips to find safe music).

YouTube’s live-stream terms make the streamer responsible for necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public-performance licenses), and other royalty participants, subject to applicable territory rules (YouTube live-stream terms). Do not assume that permission for one country covers a worldwide broadcast. The rights owner, territory, recording, and terms need to be verified for each track.

- Identify each recording. Make a list of song title, film, version or recording, label, and any publisher information you can confirm. Rights may differ between recordings of the same song. The rights owners for a particular Malayalam film song cannot be inferred from its title alone.
- Get written permission. Ask the relevant rights holders for permission covering YouTube livestreaming, the territories where viewers may access it, repeated use, and any archive or replay. If you plan to monetize, confirm that the permission allows it. Keep the permission and its scope on file.
- Request a Content ID allowlist addition. If the rights holder uses Content ID, ask it to allowlist your YouTube channel before the broadcast. YouTube warns that even licensed live content can be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted (YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams).
- Check the rights for every territory. YouTube’s terms refer to worldwide rights and compliance with regulations in each live-stream territory. Confirm that the permission actually covers your intended audience and broadcast reach; do not treat a local permission as automatically global.
YouTube describes safe music as music in the public domain or music you have received permission to use from the copyright owner (YouTube Help: Tips to find safe music). Credit, a purchase receipt, or a “free” label is not a substitute for permission to livestream.

Why a cleared song can still interrupt a livestream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a warning, a placeholder image replacing the stream, interruption, or termination. If a rights holder has licensed your use but its Content ID system still flags the channel, the allowlist step matters. If an interruption occurs, check YouTube Studio for the restriction or strike and contact the rights holder about the claim; do not simply restart with the same unaddressed content.
Permission to use a song and eligibility to earn revenue are separate issues. YouTube Partner Program creators may monetize live streams, but that does not establish that a particular playlist qualifies or that its rights terms permit monetization.

Can Creator Music license a Malayalam songs livestream?
No. YouTube’s Creator Music licensing and revenue-sharing options do not cover livestreams. Its Help pages describe availability for U.S. YouTube Partner Program creators, with expansion elsewhere pending; availability can change, so check YouTube’s current Creator Music information for your account. It is not a workaround for music rights in a live broadcast (Creator Music FAQ; Creator Music usage details).
Choose an encoder for playlist playback
YouTube supports encoder-based live streams using either software on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. Both can send a stream to YouTube; the reviewed YouTube setup guidance does not benchmark their cost or reliability. Choose based on how you will play the pre-recorded playlist and how much hands-on oversight you can provide.

| Option | Setup and host-device needs | Playlist playback and oversight |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | Install and configure an encoder on a computer; the computer must remain available for the stream. | Suitable when the playlist can be played or supplied to the encoder on that computer. You must watch the encoder and connection. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | Use a dedicated encoder device rather than an encoder application on a computer; exact setup depends on the device. | Can be appropriate for a dedicated setup, but confirm that the device supports your intended pre-recorded playlist workflow and plan for operator oversight. |
YouTube’s encoder workflow and supported categories are described in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. Do not assume a particular encoder supports playlist looping without checking its own documentation.
Set up the YouTube live stream
- Enable live streaming. If this is your channel’s first live stream, YouTube says enablement may take up to 24 hours. Complete this before the time you intend to broadcast (YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
- Create or schedule the event. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room to create or schedule the stream. Set its title, visibility, and other event details for your channel.
- Connect the encoder. In the Live Control Room, use the stream URL and stream key shown for the event in your encoder. Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Check the preview. Confirm the encoder is sending the intended playlist and that the preview appears in YouTube Studio before starting the public broadcast.
- Start and monitor the stream. Start the encoder and use the Live Control Room to watch stream status and alerts. Keep an operator available to respond to copyright notices or technical problems.
Plan for the all-day limit and archive
YouTube says livestreams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not establish that a single broadcast longer than 12 hours will be archived as one complete replay, or that a restart will provide seamless, uninterrupted playback. If a complete archive matters, plan a stream duration within YouTube’s current controls and verify the options shown for your channel before going live. Do not promise viewers one complete replay for an all-day broadcast (YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).

Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a first stream: live-stream enablement may still be processing. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours; enable it in advance.
- The stream shows a warning or placeholder, or stops: YouTube may have detected third-party content. Check the Live Control Room and channel status for the notice, then contact the relevant rights holder. If the use is licensed, ask whether the channel has been allowlisted.
- You have permission but still receive a Content ID match: permission does not guarantee the automated system will recognize it. Have the rights holder confirm the allowlist addition and resolve the specific notice through YouTube’s available process.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours. The reviewed guidance does not promise a single archive for longer broadcasts; check the current channel controls and archive status.
- The encoder does not appear in YouTube Studio: verify that you copied the stream URL and key for the correct event and that the encoder is sending. Keep the key private; if you suspect it has been exposed, replace it through the channel’s stream settings.
