You can run a prerecorded Hindi playlist continuously on YouTube by hosting an encoder process on an always-on DigitalOcean Droplet and sending its output to YouTube Live. The Droplet replaces the computer you would otherwise have to leave running; YouTube provides the live-stream destination and playback. The setup requires a YouTube-eligible channel, an encoder configured with YouTube’s stream URL and key, cleared rights for every recording, and ongoing monitoring. A 24/7 schedule does not mean one YouTube live session is guaranteed to stay open forever.
How the DigitalOcean-to-YouTube setup works
Your playlist and encoder run on a Linux virtual machine, called a Droplet, in DigitalOcean’s cloud. The encoder sends audio and video to YouTube using the ingest URL and stream key created in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Viewers watch the stream on YouTube; they do not connect to the Droplet directly.

This arrangement avoids keeping a home computer online, but it makes you responsible for the server, encoder process, network-transfer costs, stream-key security, and recovery when either the encoder or YouTube session stops.

Check YouTube eligibility and rights first
Confirm live streaming is enabled
- Your channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- First-time live-streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours. Enable it and confirm access before spending time preparing the server.
- Plan to test with a private or unlisted stream before making the playlist public.
Clear rights for the entire playlist
You need the rights required to exploit the live content worldwide, including relevant music licensing rights. This matters especially for commercially released Hindi film songs, devotional recordings, and other recordings made by third parties: owning an audio or video file, or finding it online, does not by itself establish that you can rebroadcast it.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can interrupt a stream, and even a licensed recording may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Resolve permissions and any required allowlisting before going public.
Create the YouTube live destination
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live stream for the channel that will carry the playlist.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream. You will enter these in the encoder running on the Droplet.
- Keep the key private. Treat it like a password: do not put it in a public repository, screenshot, shared configuration, or public log. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
Use the destination details for the intended stream and verify them before starting the encoder. A wrong key or destination can prevent the feed from reaching the expected live event.
Prepare a DigitalOcean Droplet and playlist process
Create an always-on Linux Droplet in your DigitalOcean account, then install and configure an encoder that can read your playlist format and send a live feed to YouTube. The sources available for this guide do not establish a tested Ubuntu release, minimum Droplet size, firewall rules, encoder installation commands, playlist syntax, or a validated service supervisor. Those choices depend on the operating system, media formats, and encoder you select, so do not treat an unverified command copied from another setup as a production-ready 24/7 configuration.

Before putting the process into service
- Choose an encoder and playlist workflow that can continuously read the actual Hindi media files you intend to use, including their audio and video formats.
- Make the playlist order and loop behavior explicit, and check transitions for gaps, silence, or unintended overlays.
- Store the stream key in a private configuration mechanism accessible only to the encoder account. Restrict access to server accounts and logs that could expose it.
- Plan how you will detect both a crashed encoder and a YouTube session that has ended. Restarting an encoder process alone may not create a new YouTube live session.
- Keep an independent copy of the playlist and configuration so a Droplet failure does not leave you unable to rebuild the setup.
Set encoder settings for YouTube
Choose settings from YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for your selected codec, resolution, and frame rate rather than copying one bitrate as a universal value. Bitrate requirements differ with those choices and may change as YouTube updates its guidance.
- Use RTMPS when the encoder supports it.
- Set the encoder to constant bitrate (CBR).
- Use a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Enter the YouTube stream URL and key in the encoder’s destination settings.
- Check that the encoder’s audio and video formats and selected output settings are compatible with the current YouTube recommendations for the intended stream.
There is no single correct resolution or bitrate for every Hindi playlist. Match the output to the source material, available server capacity, and YouTube’s current table; increasing bitrate also increases outbound data usage.
Test playback, health, and session recovery
- Start with a private or unlisted stream. Confirm that YouTube receives the feed and that the intended live event is the one receiving it.
- Check both audio and moving video in YouTube’s preview and on a separate playback device, including a phone. Verify that Hindi dialogue, vocals, and music are audible and that video continues to advance.
- Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators during the test. Investigate warnings rather than assuming a stream that has started is stable.
- Test what happens if the encoder process stops, the Droplet reboots, or the YouTube session ends. Confirm that you will notice each failure and know which part must be restarted.
- Only make the stream public after the playlist, rights, playback, and recovery checks are satisfactory.
YouTube automatically archives streams shorter than 12 hours. Its guidance does not guarantee that one live session can run indefinitely. Treat a long-running channel as a process that needs a planned session transition or restart, and test that handling; do not assume that restarting the encoder will automatically reopen a finished YouTube session.

Estimate DigitalOcean outbound-transfer costs
A continuously sending stream uses outbound transfer. DigitalOcean pools each Droplet plan’s included outbound allowance at the team level; outbound transfer beyond that pooled allowance is billed at $0.01 per GiB. Check your team’s current allowance, usage, and billing rather than assuming one Droplet has an isolated allowance or that a particular stream will have no overage.
For a rough scale estimate, a constant 4 Mb/s feed sent continuously for 30 days transfers about 1,296,000 megabits, or roughly 162,000 decimal megabytes (about 151 GiB before protocol overhead). This is an illustrative calculation, not a prediction of your bill: the actual bitrate varies with your encoder settings, runtime, overhead, and interruptions. Compare your estimate with the team’s pooled allowance and current usage.
DigitalOcean’s hosting charge is separate from any transfer overage. The available information does not establish a current Droplet plan price or a suitable minimum size for every encoder and playlist, so verify plan pricing and resource needs in your account before choosing a Droplet.
