To run Tamil church worship videos continuously on YouTube with OBS, loop the authorized video or playlist in an OBS scene, connect OBS to an active YouTube Live broadcast, then monitor the stream in YouTube Studio. Looping a file in OBS is not the same as broadcasting it, and devotional content is not automatically cleared for rebroadcast. Confirm rights for the recordings, compositions, lyrics and visuals before going live.
Before you set up OBS: confirm permission to stream the material
Check who controls each video and the underlying composition, performance, sound recording, lyrics and visual elements. Permission to stream a church’s live performance does not automatically cover a prerecorded commercial song or video. Confirm that your permissions cover both public live streaming and any archived or on-demand copy.

One video: use a Media Source
Add the local video as an OBS Media Source and enable its Loop option. This is the straightforward choice when the program is a single file that should repeat. Check the playback and audio in the scene before broadcasting.

Several videos: use a playlist-capable source
For a sequence of local files, the cited OBS workflow guide describes using a VLC Video source, adding the desired files to its playlist and enabling playlist looping. Confirm that VLC Video is available and that the controls behave as expected in your installed OBS version; source names or behavior can vary by version. Inspect the sequence, transitions between files and repeat behavior before going live. The guide is third-party documentation, not a guarantee for every installation: OBS media sources guide.
Connect the OBS scene to YouTube Live
- Prepare the scene. In OBS, add the Media Source or VLC Video source to a scene. Play it in the preview and check that both picture and sound are correct. Confirm the playlist order and looping behavior.
- Create or select a YouTube Live broadcast. Open YouTube Studio and create or choose the live broadcast that should receive the OBS program. Account eligibility and Studio screens can change, so follow the current prompts in your account.
- Connect OBS to the broadcast. Use the current connection instructions in YouTube Studio and OBS to select the destination and provide the stream key or other requested connection details. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it. The OBS community guide describes the general process of selecting or creating a broadcast and starting the stream, but its account-eligibility details were last updated in 2021 and may be out of date: OBS community guide to streaming to YouTube.
- Start the broadcast from OBS and verify it in Studio. Starting playback or enabling Loop only repeats media inside OBS; it does not send that scene to YouTube. Start streaming to the active broadcast, then check YouTube Studio to confirm the incoming program and its status.
- Monitor the live program. Keep YouTube Studio available to watch for warnings or interruptions. Check the stream again after a file change or reconnection.
What YouTube’s copyright checks mean for a continuous stream
YouTube says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match may replace the picture with a placeholder and trigger a warning. If the matched material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube also says licensed material can still be interrupted when the channel has not been allowlisted by the rightsholder. Decide separately whether to keep the broadcast available as an archive. YouTube says Content ID claims may be made after a live stream ends if it is archived. Make sure your permissions cover that on-demand use as well as the live transmission.

- The video loops in OBS, but YouTube is not live: looping controls the local media source only. Confirm that OBS is streaming to an active YouTube Live broadcast and check the broadcast status in YouTube Studio.
- A playlist does not advance or repeat: check the source’s playlist and loop settings, then test the full sequence in your installed OBS version before going live.
- YouTube shows a warning, placeholder or interruption: review Studio’s notice, identify the matched material and resolve the rights issue with the appropriate rightsholder. Do not assume that religious use, public availability or a general church license clears a particular recording.
- The live stream is permitted but the archive is claimed: verify whether your rights include on-demand availability, and review YouTube’s claim details before deciding whether to retain the archive.
- The account or Studio screens do not match a tutorial: use the current YouTube Studio and OBS prompts. The cited OBS community guide’s eligibility details date to 2021 and may no longer describe current account requirements.
