You can keep underwater ambience and bubble sounds live on YouTube by creating a stream in YouTube Studio, sending its server URL and stream key to an encoder, and monitoring the broadcast. Before you start, enable live streaming, clear the rights to every video and sound, and decide how you will preserve the stream: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but its cited guidance does not establish the same archive behavior for a continuous 24/7 broadcast.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible to go live: YouTube’s general guidance says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before launch. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guide and live-streaming eligibility guidance explain the requirements.
- Rights-cleared underwater footage and audio: Use material you created or have permission to use for a YouTube livestream. Keep records of the license and its permitted uses.
- An encoder: YouTube supports software encoders that run on a computer and standalone hardware encoders. The computer-based route is the most straightforward way to assemble and test a first stream; hardware is optional.
- A continuity and archive plan: A 24/7 broadcast depends on an encoder and connection that remain available, plus someone or something to notice interruptions. Decide separately whether you need a recording of the full stream.
Prepare the ambience video and sound
Use assets cleared for livestreaming
Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are separate questions. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; if it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. If you licensed footage or audio, ask the rights holder whether allowlisting is needed and keep written confirmation.

Make a loop that has a reason to watch
Choose footage and sound you can lawfully use, then consider whether the program offers more than an interchangeable repeated clip. Distinct underwater environments, original footage, deliberate sound design, or useful context can make the creator’s contribution more visible. None of those additions guarantees monetization approval.

- Enable live streaming in advance. Verify the channel and complete any activation steps in YouTube Studio. For a first-time activation, allow up to 24 hours before the planned start.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming workflow and create a new stream or schedule one. YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions describe the current workflow.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. Enter both in your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it or show it in screenshots. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.
- Set up the encoder and select the stream. Use an encoder that supports your chosen input and output formats. Follow the encoder’s own instructions to select the footage and audio and configure its output. The available official guidance does not establish a universal resolution, bitrate, keyframe interval, or hardware specification for this particular ambience stream; check YouTube’s current recommendations and the encoder’s current specifications rather than relying on guessed values.
- Start the encoder and wait for the preview. Confirm that YouTube receives the signal and that the preview shows the intended video and audio before confirming the broadcast. Check that sound is present and not unexpectedly silent or distorted.
- Monitor the live stream. Watch YouTube’s stream health and respond to warnings or interruptions. If using OBS, its help portal explains dropped frames and troubleshooting; persistent dropped frames need diagnosis rather than an assumption that the stream will continue cleanly.
Choose a setup for 24/7 continuity
The two supported encoder routes are software on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. Neither removes the need to consider power, network stability, monitoring, and recovery. Compare options based on whether a computer must remain dedicated to encoding, the device’s supported formats, its operating reliability, remote monitoring, and total cost. Check the current specifications and YouTube compatibility before buying hardware; no particular model or performance level is established here.

Plan for archives and long-running streams
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. The cited encoder guidance does not establish the same automatic archive behavior for streams longer than 12 hours. Therefore, do not rely on one continuous 24/7 broadcast producing a complete YouTube archive. If preserving the full program matters, plan a separate recording or other archive process and verify that it captures what you need.
Understand copyright and monetization risks
Copyright checks can interrupt a licensed stream
Keep documentation for your footage and audio, including the scope of the license and any platform or live-use restrictions. If a third party controls the rights, confirm whether your channel needs to be on its Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams describes how matched third-party content can affect a broadcast.

A loop is not automatically eligible for monetization
On July 15, 2025, YouTube said it renamed its “repetitious content” policy to “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible for monetization. YouTube reviews reused content separately from copyright and permission, so having rights to use a clip does not by itself establish monetization eligibility. Make your original contribution and the value for viewers clear; no specific edit or addition guarantees approval. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot common problems
- Live streaming is unavailable: Check channel verification and eligibility, then enable live streaming and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder signal: Check that the correct server URL and stream key were copied into the encoder, and that the encoder is running. If the key was exposed, replace it rather than continuing to use it.
- The preview does not show the intended program: Confirm the encoder’s selected video and audio inputs, then wait for YouTube’s preview before confirming the broadcast.
- The stream buffers or drops frames: Check YouTube’s stream-health information and investigate persistent encoder or connection issues. OBS’s dropped-frames help covers diagnosis; dropped frames should not be treated as proof of uninterrupted playback.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright match: Check for third-party material, review the rights and live-use terms, and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting where applicable.
- The 24/7 run has no complete archive: YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours. Use a separate recording or archive plan if a full record is important.
