Yes—YouTube can carry a continuous live feed made from recorded prayer services. First verify that the channel is eligible to livestream, then send a prerecorded program through an encoder or a hosted streaming service; uploading a video normally is not the same as running a YouTube Live feed. Before going public, test the stream and clear every song, image, and clip in the recordings for online use.
What a 24/7 recorded-service stream involves
A continuous YouTube Live stream is a video feed sent to YouTube by an encoder or a service that handles the feed for you. YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation describes a channel broadcasting a 24/7 feed, so the format is a documented technical use case—not a guarantee of uninterrupted service or approval of every program. Google for Developers explains the distinction between incoming streams and viewer-facing broadcasts.

A normal video upload makes a recording available to watch on demand; it does not, by itself, create a continuous live feed. For a prerecorded service to appear as a live stream, something must send the video to YouTube continuously. YouTube lists encoder streaming as one of its methods; a hosted scheduler can perform that sending without relying on a computer at the church to stay running.
Check YouTube channel eligibility first
YouTube’s current live-stream guidance says the channel must be verified and must have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. It also sets the minimum age to livestream at 16. Check the current rules and channel status in YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming before planning a launch.

The cited YouTube guidance does not identify a separate Tamil Christian, language-based, or denomination-based livestream requirement. A church may still have its own consent, pastoral, or denominational policies; those are separate from YouTube eligibility.
Choose who will send the continuous feed

Those are OneStream-specific terms, not YouTube requirements; verify current availability and terms with OneStream Live’s 24/7 streaming instructions, last updated September 3, 2026.

Prepare the recordings and rights
Build a program that can sustain the schedule
Choose a recording or playlist long enough for the ministry’s purpose. Before scheduling, confirm what the encoder or service does when a file ends: it might repeat a file, advance to the next item, or stop, depending on its settings. Decide who will check that the intended program is still playing and what they should do if the feed fails. The cited platform and vendor documentation does not promise zero interruptions.

Clear everything heard or shown
YouTube scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. If it identifies material, it may replace the feed with a placeholder and warn the streamer; if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. See YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

- Review worship songs, background music, lyrics, artwork, and any clips embedded in the service recording.
- Secure and document the permissions needed for the recording and online stream. Do not assume that permission to perform a song in person also covers recording it and streaming it online; this is a practical rights caution, not a jurisdiction-specific legal conclusion.
- If a rights owner licenses third-party material, ask whether the YouTube channel can be added to that owner’s Content ID allowlist. YouTube says licensed content may still interrupt a live stream if the owner has not allowlisted the channel.
Familiar hymns or worship songs are not automatically cleared just because they are commonly sung in church. Check the rights for the actual music, lyrics, recording, and visual assets used.
Set up, test, and publish the stream
- Choose the delivery method. Decide whether a local encoder will send the feed or a hosted service will schedule it. Follow that method’s current setup flow; YouTube supports encoder streaming, while vendor-specific setup and plan limits are not platform-wide rules.
- Connect the channel and create the live broadcast. Use YouTube Studio or the selected service’s channel-connection workflow. In normal use, follow the current YouTube interface rather than trying to manage API resources directly.
- Run a private or unlisted test. Confirm the correct recording plays, audio is clear, the intended playlist behavior works at file boundaries, and the broadcast appears as expected before making it public.
- Publish clear Tamil metadata. Give the broadcast a useful Tamil title and description, and state that the program is prerecorded when it is. Share the live link through the congregation’s usual channels.
- Assign an operator. Decide who will notice an interrupted feed, respond to YouTube warnings, and monitor chat if chat is enabled. A continuous schedule still needs a human response plan.
YouTube’s API documentation distinguishes the incoming video feed from the viewer-facing broadcast. That is useful background for understanding the workflow, but most church volunteers do not need to configure API resources themselves. The same documentation’s 24/7 example is a technical precedent, not an uptime commitment or a waiver of content policies.

Common problems and what to check
- The channel cannot go live: check channel verification, live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the age requirement in YouTube’s current eligibility guidance.
- The stream stops when a recording ends: check the encoder or service’s end-of-file and playlist behavior, and whether the schedule itself has a duration limit. For OneStream’s documented 24/7 feature, the stated maximum is 30 days per schedule.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast: check for a copyright warning and identify the matched material. Remove or replace material that is not cleared; for licensed content, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting.
- The feed disappears after a local outage: with a self-run encoder, check power, computer state, and internet connection, then restart the feed if needed. Arrange monitoring and a recovery plan rather than assuming the stream will resume automatically.
- The live page is public but the program is not what viewers expect: test privately or unlisted first, verify the selected recording and playlist order, and make the title and description clear that the service is prerecorded.
