A continuous stream is an operating goal—not a YouTube uptime guarantee—and a broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be saved as a replay.
What you need to decide before going live
Choose how the lessons will be played, whether you need a dependable YouTube archive, and who will monitor the stream. A local encoder is a practical do-it-yourself route: it sends the lesson sequence to YouTube, but the computer, playback process, network connection, and broadcast need operational oversight. YouTube’s published setup guidance explains encoder streaming; it does not categorically approve or prohibit every continuous prerecorded loop, nor promise uninterrupted 24/7 service.

- Eligibility: YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- Content: Check rights for the lecture and all included slides, diagrams, music, images, clips, and other third-party material.
- Replay: YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
- Monitoring: Plan how someone will notice a failed encoder, network interruption, audio or video problem, or YouTube warning.

Prepare the JEE lesson sequence
Organize for a student joining at any time
Arrange the recordings in a sequence that makes sense to a student who enters the stream midway through a lesson cycle. Use clear lesson titles and descriptions so viewers can identify the topic. The official guidance reviewed does not prescribe a JEE-specific playlist format, so choose an order that suits your course—for example, by subject unit or concept progression.

Check playback on phones and computers
Preview the recordings at the size students are likely to watch. Equations, diagrams, and written steps should be legible on a phone as well as a computer; audio should be present and intelligible wherever the lesson depends on it. Keep the original lesson files: do not rely on a long continuous live broadcast as the only copy or replay.
Set up the YouTube Live encoder workflow
- Enable and check live access. In YouTube Studio, confirm that Live Control Room is available for the channel. YouTube’s stated prerequisites include channel verification and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. If the channel is new to livestreaming, enable it early and confirm access before announcing a public schedule. YouTube’s eligibility guidance.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Select the visibility appropriate for your test or launch.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key as private: it is how the encoder sends a feed for YouTube to accept. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- Load and preview the lesson sequence. Start the encoder’s preview or send the feed without making the test public. Check that the intended lesson is playing, equations are readable, and audio is correct. Wait for YouTube’s preview and inspect it before selecting Go Live.
- Test the end-to-end connection. Use a private or unlisted test to check the stream on its YouTube watch page and confirm that the upload connection can sustain the chosen bitrate. YouTube recommends checking upload capacity and stream health; a network interruption can break the stream.
- Launch and monitor. After the test passes, start or schedule the public broadcast and keep a person or operational process responsible for monitoring audio, video, stream health, and interruptions. YouTube recommends monitoring live audio and video but does not promise a stream will remain uninterrupted for 24 hours.

Choose a broadcast schedule that protects replays
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is a platform archive threshold, not a guarantee that every shorter stream will produce a usable replay. If students need reliable replay access, preserve the original lesson files and consider ending broadcasts before they reach 12 hours, then starting a new broadcast. Check archive behavior in your own workflow rather than treating a single 24-hour broadcast as the sole lesson archive.

Clear rights and avoid preventable interruptions
Review the entire recording
Check rights for the teacher’s lecture and every element within it, including slides, diagrams, music, images, video clips, and embedded third-party material. YouTube’s livestream terms require content providers to have the necessary rights for worldwide use of live content and to comply with applicable laws. They also state: “The Live Content must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines.”
The reviewed sources do not settle whether a particular Indian copyright exception applies to a public, continuous stream of recorded JEE lessons. Educational purpose alone should not be treated as permission for every material or use; assess the actual rights and distribution context, and seek qualified legal advice where needed.
Plan for Content ID matching
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match can replace the live feed with a placeholder image, trigger a warning, or lead to interruption or termination if the material continues. A licence does not necessarily prevent this: even licensed material may interrupt a stream if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Keep permission records and resolve any required allowlisting before relying on third-party content.

Understand monetization and audience settings
Being able to livestream and being eligible to earn from it are separate matters. YouTube says creators must apply to and be accepted into the YouTube Partner Programme, and participating channels must follow its monetization policies. The July 15, 2025 policy update renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible under that policy. A continuous stream of recorded lessons is not automatically monetizable merely because it is live; the channel and content must meet YouTube’s current requirements.
If the lessons are classified as Made for Kids, YouTube says some live features, including live chat and personalized ads, are disabled or restricted. Classify the audience based on the intended audience and YouTube’s rules; JEE preparation by itself does not decide the classification.

Troubleshoot common launch problems
