You can loop recorded GTA gameplay on YouTube through an encoder such as OBS, but a true 24/7 broadcast requires the computer, encoder and internet connection to keep running—and neither continuous availability nor monetization is guaranteed. Before setting it up, check your channel’s live access, review YouTube’s and Rockstar’s policies, and decide how you will handle interruptions and the replay.
Before you start: check access and rights
Confirm YouTube live-stream access
YouTube says a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old to live stream. First-time activation may require setup, so check the live control workflow in YouTube Studio well before your planned launch; activation time is not guaranteed. Do not treat gameplay availability as commercial clearance
YouTube says monetization of game content depends on the commercial-use rights granted by the publisher. It warns: “Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.” Step-by-step commentary with instructional or educational value tied to the action may be a possible route, but adding a voice track does not automatically make a repetitive loop eligible. Rockstar’s policy welcomes gameplay uploads but frames its general non-objection as applying to non-commercial use and describes the policy as covering occasional, non-commercial fan use. It says: “Generally, Take-Two Interactive does not object to our fans using materials for non-commercial uses in a manner which does not intentionally spoil the plot for others.” The policy, last updated January 10, 2025, is not an affirmative commercial license for continuous monetized streaming, and Rockstar reserves the right to remove copyrighted material. YouTube also reviews channels for reused and inauthentic or repetitive content. Repeating identical footage with little original contribution or viewer value can create a channel-level monetization risk, even if you have permission to use the game. The policy is separate from copyright clearance; acceptance is not assured. YouTube’s channel monetization policies explain these reviews. Graphic gameplay can also affect ad suitability; check YouTube’s gaming and monetisation guidance.
Set up a recorded GTA stream with an encoder
- Verify the channel and access. In YouTube Studio, open the live control workflow and confirm that live streaming is available. Complete any verification or activation steps shown there before scheduling the broadcast.
- Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Set an accurate title and description, choose the appropriate game/category, and use the encoder option. Copy the stream setup details into your encoder. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it could send a broadcast to your channel.
- Prepare the recording in OBS or another encoder. Add the prerecorded GTA video as a media source. If the broadcast is meant to repeat, enable looping and confirm that playback resumes after the file ends. Check that the game audio is present and balanced, and add narration only if it contributes genuine context or instruction. These are source and playback checks, not a sign that YouTube or Rockstar has approved the content.
- Connect and test. Enter the stream setup information from Studio into the encoder, start the encoder, then inspect YouTube Studio’s preview and stream status. Confirm the picture, audio and playback before making the broadcast public. A short private or unlisted test can help identify setup errors, subject to the channel and content settings available to you.
- Plan for a continuously running local setup. For a 24/7 broadcast, the computer, encoder and internet connection must remain available. Monitor Studio’s stream health and have a way to restart the encoder if it stops. A UPS can help through some short power interruptions, but its runtime depends on the connected load; it does not keep the internet connection online or guarantee uninterrupted streaming.
- Review the recording for third-party material. Check embedded music and other content as well as the game footage. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can trigger a placeholder, interruption or termination. Read Studio warnings and address them rather than assuming the stream can continue unaffected.
Choose between one long stream and shorter sessions
One continuous broadcast is operationally simple to describe, but it is not the reliable choice if a complete replay is essential. YouTube and Google’s live-production guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not support promising a complete replay from a single 24-hour session. Platform behavior can change, so recheck Studio guidance before publishing.

YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder, interruption or termination; if the stream is archived, a Content ID claim may follow after it ends. Review the recording’s captured audio and any added music, watch Studio notifications, and be prepared to stop or replace material that triggers a warning. - No preview or incoming signal: Check that the encoder is using the current stream setup information from Studio, is actively sending, and has access to the internet. Keep the stream key private; if you believe it has been exposed, replace it in Studio before broadcasting again.
- Video stops at the end of the file: Check the media source’s loop setting and test what happens at the end of playback before going live.
- Picture works but audio does not: Check the media source and encoder audio meters, then confirm audio in the Studio preview. Inspect the recording itself for missing or muted tracks.
- Stream is interrupted or terminated: Review Studio’s stream status and notices, check the internet and encoder, and look for a copyright warning. Correct the cause before restarting; restarting alone will not resolve a rights match.
- Replay is incomplete or missing: Do not depend on automatic archiving for a single 24-hour session. Use local recording and shorter planned broadcasts if the replay is important.

Costs and practical limits
For the do-it-yourself approach, the equipment must be capable of running the encoder and keeping the recording available, and the connection must stay online. No minimum computer specification or cost is established here; a new computer is not a requirement if you already have suitable hardware. A UPS is optional for short power interruptions, with runtime depending on the load, and does not cover internet loss. In India, no specific legal determination for this type of stream is established here; YouTube’s territorial requirements do not by themselves settle which Indian rules apply.
