You can run a 24/7 YouTube Live stream of prerecorded cricket highlights by sending a continuous video feed from an encoder or cloud service—but only after clearing the footage and music for continuous live use. YouTube may interrupt a stream that contains third-party content even when you have a licence, unless the rights owner has allowlisted your channel through Content ID.
1. Clear the highlights before you stream
Recorded footage is not automatically cleared for a continuous live broadcast. YouTube’s Live Stream Terms put responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights to use live content on Google services, including music rights. Confirm that your permission covers the footage, territory, continuous live transmission, embedded music, commentary, graphics and other broadcast elements. If you need to keep an archive, confirm that saving and making the stream available afterward are covered too.

Ask the relevant rights owner or licensee to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist before testing. YouTube warns that a stream can be interrupted for copyrighted content even if you have a licence, when the owner has not allowlisted your channel. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams. Rights vary by footage and territory; this is an operational checklist, not legal advice.

- List every highlight and identify who controls its broadcast rights.
- Check permissions for all music and other third-party material included in each clip.
- Get written confirmation for the territories and continuous live use you intend.
- Confirm whether the permission includes an archived copy of the stream.
- Complete the Content ID allowlisting process with the rights owner before going live.
2. Choose how to keep the feed running
You need a source that can send the prerecorded video continuously to YouTube. YouTube supports encoder software and standalone hardware encoders; its encoder setup guide also lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded streams. That listing identifies a service category; it is not an endorsement or a comparison of current prices, uptime or terms.

Choose based on who will monitor the stream, whether local power and internet can stay available, your failover and archive needs, and the provider’s current terms. A computer-based setup generally needs the host computer to remain running; a cloud service can run without keeping your own computer on.
3. Enable YouTube Live and create an encoder stream
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming tips say the channel must be verified and must not have a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- Enable live streaming early. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until launch day.
- Open Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream and choose an encoder workflow, following the current on-screen setup.
- Copy the stream URL and key into the encoder. YouTube describes the stream key as the password and address that let your encoder send the feed. Treat it as a credential: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control your stream. The Live Control Room settings guidance explains the stream settings.
4. Configure the encoder and test the feed
Use RTMPS where supported; YouTube recommends it because it encrypts the connection to YouTube’s servers. In the encoder, use constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, and do not exceed four seconds. For resolution-specific bitrate values, follow YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance rather than assuming one bitrate fits every resolution.

- Load the cleared highlight playlist or video source into the encoder or streaming service.
- Set the output resolution and bitrate for the source and your available upload capacity, using YouTube’s current recommendations.
- Select RTMPS, enter the stream URL and key, and start the encoder.
- Wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room; check picture, audio and playback order before launch.
- Where suitable, test with an unlisted stream before making the continuous feed public. YouTube’s streaming tips cover preview and setup.
5. Monitor continuity, bandwidth and failover
A 24/7 stream needs ongoing attention even after the video is playing. YouTube recommends maintaining upload bandwidth at least 20% above the combined stream bitrate. Check audio and video continuously, and test failover rather than assuming a backup encoder will take over correctly.

- Check the audio and picture from the viewer-facing stream, not only the encoder preview.
- Test backup encoder failover by stopping the primary encoder and confirming that the player rolls over as expected.
- Verify local recording files and playback if you are recording a backup.
- Confirm that the event can be reached from both the channel and watch pages.
6. Treat the archive as a separate requirement
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24-hour continuous feed exceeds that stated duration, so do not promise that YouTube will save it as one complete video. If a full record matters, arrange local recording or divide the broadcast into scheduled segments, then verify the current YouTube behavior and confirm that your rights cover the saved material.

7. Troubleshoot common launch and continuity problems
