Short answer: Cloud storage alone cannot broadcast a 24/7 YouTube stream. You need a playout service or an encoder that reads your music and visuals, assembles them into a live feed, and sends that feed to YouTube. For a hands-off setup, upload cleared media to a cloud streaming service; for a do-it-yourself setup, run an encoder such as OBS on a computer or hosted virtual machine that stays online.
Choose how the stream will be played out
A cloud drive stores files; it does not continuously decode them, combine audio and video, or transmit a live feed. Those jobs belong to a playout service or encoder. YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based service for continuous streams of prerecorded video, and Gyre’s workflow is to upload media to its storage, make a playlist, connect YouTube, and start the broadcast. Confirm that your rights cover public YouTube livestreaming, the territories where viewers may watch, monetization if you plan to enable it, and any archived recording. “Royalty-free” by itself does not establish those permissions. Keep the license and any rights-holder confirmation on file.

YouTube says it scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects such content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license does not necessarily prevent a live interruption: YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Prepare a playlist that can run continuously
Choose source files you are entitled to use
Use music and any still or animated visual only when their licenses cover your intended live and archive use. If a license or Content ID status is unclear, resolve it with the rights holder before adding the track.

Build and review the sequence
For cloud playout, upload the source files to the service and arrange them as a playlist. Gyre describes automatic playlist looping and a built-in converter on its service page; those are vendor-described features, so confirm the current workflow and limits in the service you choose. A varied sequence is usually more pleasant than a very short repeated loop, but there is no established minimum playlist length.
For DIY playback, create a local playlist in the order you want it to play, and verify that your playback software can repeat it without gaps or stopping at the end. Keep a separate copy of the cleared master files; a backup drive can protect the files, but does not run the broadcast.

Create the YouTube live stream and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. In Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder connection workflow. YouTube says first-time live streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable access well before launch. YouTube encoder setup guidance
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream into your encoder or supported cloud service. Treat the key like a password: do not post it, include it in screenshots, or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel. Regenerate it if you believe it has been exposed.
- Where the encoder offers a choice, use RTMPS. Google documents RTMPS as RTMP over SSL and specifies a valid RTMPS endpoint, port 443, and an SNI hostname for authentication. - For a DIY setup, select the YouTube connection in OBS or enter the server URL and key in the streaming settings. Keep your media playback routed into the encoder’s audio input and confirm the intended visual source is present. Test before making the stream public
- Start a private or unlisted test stream in Live Control Room.
- Listen for clipping, silence, unintended gaps, and abrupt playlist transitions. Check that the audio and any visual are synchronized and that playback continues past the first item.
- Review YouTube’s stream-health display and preview. Correct any warnings before announcing a public start.
- Schedule or switch the stream to public only after checking that the intended playlist is playing and the correct stream is connected.
This is a practical preflight, not a reliability guarantee. A long-running broadcast still depends on the encoder or cloud service, the connection to YouTube, and rights clearance.
Plan around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous 24/7 broadcast exceeds that stated window, so do not assume YouTube will save one complete replay of an endless stream. - YouTube will not accept the stream: Check that live streaming is enabled and allow for the first-time activation window, which YouTube says may take up to 24 hours. Verify that the server URL and stream key belong to the intended stream, then replace the key in the encoder if it was regenerated.
- The stream starts but stops when the playlist ends: Check that repeat or looping is enabled in the playback or cloud service. Confirm the playlist contains playable files and that the service has finished processing uploads.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast or shows a copyright warning: Stop and investigate the matched material. Confirm the license covers live use and any planned archive, and ask the rights holder whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting.
- The encoder is online but viewers hear silence: Check that the media player’s audio is routed to the encoder, the correct input is selected, and the source file itself has audio. Test with a short private stream before relaunching publicly.
- A replay is missing or incomplete: Check stream duration against YouTube’s stated automatic-archive behavior for streams under 12 hours. For an around-the-clock channel, arrange shorter segments if a YouTube replay is important.
- A cloud service cannot find files in your drive: A general cloud drive is not automatically a playout service. Upload the assets into the streaming service’s own storage or use a documented integration; do not assume one exists.
Estimate the practical cost and workload
For a DIY encoder, account for the machine and network needing to remain available, your time monitoring playback, and responsibility for recovery. A hosted virtual machine shifts the machine off your premises but still requires you to configure and maintain the encoder. For a cloud playout service, compare the recurring plan cost, storage limits, scheduling and playlist controls, and how easily you can replace or retrieve assets. Neither architecture by itself guarantees audience growth or monetization.
