Can Airtel Xstream Fiber handle a 24/7 lofi stream?
Possibly—but the answer depends on sustained upload performance at your address, not the download speed printed on a plan. YouTube notes that upload speed is often lower than download speed, recommends at least 20% bandwidth headroom above the stream bitrate, and warns that other devices sharing the connection can reduce bandwidth available to the encoder. Test at the router under ordinary household use, ideally at the time of day you expect to stream.

Airtel’s current plan page lists examples from up to 40 Mbps through up to 1 Gbps and says speed varies by selected tariff. Those are advertised plan speeds, not a measurement or guarantee of sustained upload at your home. Check availability and upload terms for your specific account with Airtel. For a practical go/no-go check, compare your measured upload with your encoder’s total outgoing bitrate. Keep at least YouTube’s recommended 20% spare capacity, and leave more margin if household usage varies. A wired Ethernet connection is a sensible way to connect the encoder to the router when practical, but no specific Airtel performance gain is established here; test your own setup.

Measure upload and calculate monthly data use
Test the connection you will actually stream on
- Connect the streaming computer to the home router, preferably by Ethernet if available.
- Run an upload speed test at the router location, not on a mobile connection. Repeat it at the time you plan to broadcast and during typical household activity.
- Use the lowest representative upload result to choose a bitrate. Include all outgoing stream traffic if you plan to send more than one stream from the connection.
- Check the YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health during a test broadcast. A speed test is only a snapshot; it cannot prove that the connection will remain stable all day.
Estimate data against Airtel’s FUP
Airtel’s displayed broadband terms state that after 3333 GB in a billing cycle, speed is reduced to 1 Mbps; the page also says Airtel may amend its fair-usage policy. Confirm the current terms for your plan and location before relying on this figure. A continuous stream uses a material amount of data, so calculate your expected use from the selected bitrate rather than assuming an “unlimited” plan means no possible throttling. Check Airtel’s broadband terms.
For a rough estimate, multiply the stream’s bitrate in megabits per second by the hours streamed, then divide by eight to estimate gigabytes before overhead. For example, a constant 5 Mbps stream for 24 hours uses about 54 GB per day before protocol overhead; over 30 days that is about 1,620 GB. Actual consumption varies with the stream bitrate and operating time, and the calculation is not a substitute for Airtel’s current plan terms.

Choose YouTube encoder settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP and RTMPS ingestion and supports H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1. It recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. YouTube’s published H.264 bitrate recommendations include these ranges:

These are YouTube recommendations, not a promise that a particular Airtel connection can sustain them. Choose resolution and bitrate based on your measured upload and the required headroom. A mostly static lofi scene may look acceptable at a lower resolution or bitrate, but judge the actual artwork, motion and audio with a test stream rather than assuming. Review YouTube’s encoder settings.

Set up the channel and start the stream
- Enable live streaming early. Request activation for the YouTube channel well before launch. YouTube says first-time activation can take at least 24 hours.
- Create a broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream, and obtain the stream URL and stream key using YouTube’s encoder setup. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Configure the encoder. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key, select RTMPS where supported, and set a supported codec. Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval (never more than four seconds).
- Set resolution and bitrate. Pick an output your measured upload can sustain while preserving at least 20% headroom. If other devices share the connection, account for their use too.
- Test before committing to a continuous broadcast. Send the actual audio and visual, inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators, and check for buffering, dropped frames or audio problems. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring rather than assuming a successful speed test is enough.
- Plan local recording if you need a backup. Confirm the recording file is being created and growing, and make sure the computer has enough storage. A local recording does not ensure YouTube will archive the whole live stream.

Design for outages, recovery and replays
Expect more than one possible point of failure
A 24/7 broadcast relies on the encoder, router, power and upstream connection all continuing to work. YouTube warns, “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” Monitor stream health and decide in advance who will restart the broadcast if the encoder or connection fails. A UPS sized for the combined router and computer load can help through a brief local power cut, but it cannot keep Airtel’s upstream network running; runtime depends on the equipment and battery.

Do not rely on one 24-hour YouTube archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete replay matters, plan shorter sessions below that threshold and/or record locally with enough storage. Check the local file during operation. A local copy is a separate backup, not a guarantee of a complete YouTube replay. Read YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Clear the music and visual rights
Before broadcasting, obtain rights for every track, sample, image and video element used in the stream, replay and any monetized use. Keep records of permissions or licenses. Credit, a paid subscription to a music service, or calling a track “lofi” does not by itself establish permission for continuous livestreaming. Check the applicable YouTube policies for your use; the setup guidance does not establish that any particular track or visual is cleared.

Troubleshoot common interruptions
