You can run a prerecorded alphabet-video feed on YouTube with an encoder connected to YouTube Live Control Room, but a single stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be archived at all. If you need durable replays, plan shorter sessions and record locally. Because the content is made for preschoolers, designate it Made for Kids and plan around the features YouTube disables for that audience.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled and no livestream restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before launch. The minimum age to livestream is 16. YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility guidance.
- An encoder: software on a computer, dedicated hardware, or a cloud service. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- A finished video or playlist that can play continuously, with transitions and audio levels checked. This is production preparation, not a YouTube-provided looping guarantee.
- Permission to use every animation, song, voice performance, and other audio or video asset in the stream. Do not assume that material found online is cleared for a continuous rebroadcast.
- A plan for local recording, monitoring, and restarting or handing off sessions.
Choose an encoder and prepare the loop
YouTube supports encoder-based livestreams. A software encoder can be a practical starting point for a small setup; dedicated hardware is another option, and YouTube lists AWS Elemental MediaLive among broadcast-grade services. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish current prices or guarantee that any particular encoder or cloud service is suitable for an uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

Prepare the playlist or rendered loop before going live. Check that playback does not stop at the end, that transitions are clean, and that audio remains at a consistent level. Keep a local recording if preserving a copy matters: a live feed and its replay are separate concerns on YouTube.
Create the YouTube livestream and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room. Create or schedule the livestream and choose the encoder workflow. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the planned start. YouTube’s live streaming tips.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Select the prepared video or playlist as the encoder’s input and start sending the feed. Check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public.
- Confirm the public watch page works, including on a mobile device, and verify that your local recording is being written if you are recording. Continue checking picture and sound after launch rather than assuming the preview guarantees an uninterrupted session.
Set the audience accurately for preschool content
For animated alphabet lessons expressly intended for preschoolers, the likely audience designation is Yes, it’s Made for Kids. YouTube says creators should consider intended audience, educational material for preschoolers, animation, child-oriented language, songs, games, and early education when making that decision. Set the audience in Live Control Room; the creator is responsible for the choice, not YouTube’s automated systems. This is YouTube platform guidance, not a legal determination for every country. YouTube says creators must comply with COPPA and other applicable laws, and advises seeking legal counsel if they are unsure. A YouTube Kids Preschool setting is described for children age four and under, but that does not establish that a particular livestream will appear in the YouTube Kids app or be recommended there. Plan session length around archives and DVR
Do not treat a 24/7 live feed as a dependable archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours “may not be captured at all.” DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. If replays matter, use a planned sequence of shorter sessions and keep a local recording. This is an operational response to YouTube’s archive and DVR limits, not a YouTube-prescribed 24/7 rotation method. Rehearse how the encoder will stop and restart or hand off to the next session, and check what viewers see at the transition. Monitor the feed and prepare for failures
Make monitoring part of the operating plan, especially if the channel is expected to remain live overnight. YouTube recommends checking the Live Control Room preview, confirming a local archive is growing, testing access from watch pages and mobile devices, and monitoring audio and video. - Assign someone to respond to a stopped encoder, network loss, frozen picture, or silent audio.
- Check the stream after launch and at recurring intervals; verify both the public picture and sound, not just an encoder status light.
- Confirm that the local recording continues to grow and that storage is available.
- Rehearse recovery and session handoffs before relying on them. The cited YouTube material does not promise uninterrupted operation or specify an automatic restart system.
Understand Made for Kids feature and revenue limits
For Made for Kids livestreams, YouTube disables features including live chat, comments, personalized ads, the notification bell, Super Chat, and Super Stickers, along with other features. YouTube says it does not serve personalized ads on kids content and that this may reduce revenue for some creators. Troubleshooting common problems
- Livestreaming is unavailable: confirm the channel is verified and eligible, and check for a restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The encoder is not reaching YouTube: check that the stream URL and key were copied correctly and that the encoder is sending the intended input. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The stream appears in Live Control Room but not on the watch page: check the event’s visibility and status in Live Control Room, then confirm the public watch page on another device.
- Video or audio freezes or drops: inspect the encoder, input playback, and network connection; monitor the preview and test the public feed. YouTube warns that network disruptions can break a stream.
- The replay is missing or rewind is unavailable: check session duration. YouTube cautions that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured and DVR may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. Use shorter sessions and a local recording when preserving footage is important.
- Expected chat, comments, or notifications are absent: verify the audience setting and account for the feature restrictions on Made for Kids content.
