The reliable way to run a 24/7 Tamil music livestream is to clear every recording and composition right first, obtain Content ID allowlisting from the relevant rights owners, then use a verified YouTube channel with an encoder and a tested recovery plan. A licence by itself does not guarantee uninterrupted transmission: YouTube scans live video for third-party matches, and an owner can interrupt a stream that has not been allowlisted.
This guide covers rights, YouTube setup, OBS, hardware and cloud operation, encoder settings, monitoring, session rotation, troubleshooting and a practical cloud alternative. It applies to Tamil film songs, devotional playlists, independent releases and other prerecorded Tamil music you are legally permitted to broadcast.

What a 24/7 Tamil music stream actually requires
A nonstop channel has three separate requirements. Treating any one of them as optional is the most common reason a stream is claimed, stopped or left offline:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Documented rights. You need permission for each sound recording and each underlying musical composition, for the territories where viewers can watch, for the live-stream period, for monetization if you intend to monetize, and for replays if YouTube archives the broadcast.
- A ready YouTube channel and encoder. Your channel must be eligible for live streaming, and an encoder must send a continuous video and audio feed to the stream endpoint.
- Unattended operations. A 24/7 service needs monitoring, power and network protection, process restarts, a response plan for claims, and a way to rotate sessions rather than assuming one stream will run forever.
Owning an MP3, buying a consumer music subscription, crediting the singer or receiving permission to upload a track does not automatically grant public livestream, worldwide, monetization or replay rights. Keep the contract or written permission for every item in your playlist.

Clear the music and visual rights before you build anything
Create a track-by-track rights ledger
Make one row for every recording. At minimum, record:
- Track title, artist and the exact sound-recording version you will play.
- The sound-recording owner (usually a label or independent artist) and the musical-composition or publishing owner.
- Territories in which YouTube viewers may watch. “Worldwide” must be explicit if that is what you need.
- The permitted live-stream start and end dates, plus any renewal condition.
- Whether monetization, sponsorships and advertising are allowed.
- Whether an archived replay, clip or later upload is covered.
- The rights owner’s Content ID contact and written confirmation that your channel will be allowlisted.
- Restrictions such as required attribution, prohibited countries, editing limits or takedown procedures.
Keep the ledger beside the playlist file. If a claim appears, you should be able to identify the recording and its permission in seconds rather than search through email while the stream is already interrupted.
Cover both the recording and the composition
A sound-recording licence covers a particular recorded performance; the underlying melody and lyrics can belong to different publishers or writers. Your agreement should address both layers and any other royalty participants named in the contract. YouTube’s livestream terms require the broadcaster to warrant worldwide rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public-performance rights) and other royalty participants. Do not assume that a deal with only one party clears the other rights.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Confirm that the licence says “YouTube Live”
Ask for the platform, format and use to be stated plainly: continuous public transmission on YouTube Live, in the listed territories, for the stated term. If the licence only says “online use,” “social media,” “upload” or “personal listening,” obtain a written clarification before going live. Ask separately about monetization and automatic archives; a live-only grant may not include a replay.
Get Content ID allowlisting before the public launch
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If a match remains, the feed can be temporarily interrupted or terminated even when you have paid for a licence. YouTube’s guidance for licensed third-party material is to ask the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Territorial restrictions alone do not prevent an interruption.
Send each relevant owner your channel URL, channel ID, planned launch date, territory, playlist description and a copy or summary of the licence. Request written confirmation that the exact channel—not merely a video or an individual stream—is allowlisted. Test with an unlisted broadcast after the owner confirms the change. Keep the confirmation with your rights ledger and provide an escalation contact for a mistaken claim.

Clear the visuals as carefully as the audio
Album covers, lyric videos, artist photographs, logos, animated backgrounds and looping graphics can have separate owners. Obtain permission for every visual asset or create your own. A static image does not make unlicensed music safe. YouTube’s live-matching rules also distinguish partners that have exclusive ownership from streams using third-party static images, commercials or background music; do not assume that a visual permission gives you access to live Content ID matching.

Verify and activate live streaming
- Complete channel verification and review the channel’s live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio.
- Enable live streaming. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this at least a day before your intended launch.
- Check that the channel has not had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- Prepare a channel description, contact address and rights notice so a rights owner can identify the operator.
Activation is an account-level prerequisite; it does not replace music permissions or Content ID allowlisting.
Create the stream event and copy the ingest details
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Stream.
- Create a new stream or schedule one. Enter a factual title, description, thumbnail and category for the Tamil playlist.
- Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it in screenshots, chat or a shared document.
- Choose the visibility. Start with Unlisted or Private for a complete rehearsal, then switch to Public only after the test is stable and rights owners confirm allowlisting.
Run a real rehearsal
Use the actual playlist, artwork, overlays and encoder profile. Let the test run long enough to expose silence, a bad file, a frozen scene, a network drop and a Content ID warning. Confirm that:
- Audio remains continuous at the intended loudness and does not clip.
- The video advances through every file without a black frame or frozen image.
- The title, thumbnail, description and schedule are correct.
- YouTube’s preview shows a stable incoming feed and no dropped-frame warning.
- The rights owner can see the channel as allowlisted and knows how to reach you.
Choose how the stream will run
For a channel that must stay online while nobody is at the controls, compare the operating model—not just the purchase price.
| Option | Upfront cost | Ongoing cost | Unattended operation | Recovery and monitoring | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | No encoder computer required | One slot with a flat price for the selected term; see the prices below | Cloud playback continues with your computer off | Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream; team support | Uploaded Tamil playlists that should run continuously without home hardware |
| OBS Studio on an always-on computer | Free software; computer, storage and network are your responsibility | Power, internet, maintenance and replacement costs | Possible, but the computer, OBS process and home connection must remain healthy | Requires operating-system watchdogs, remote access and manual rights-response procedures | Operators who need scenes, browser sources, local recording and maximum control |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | Hardware purchase plus audio/video inputs | Power, internet, maintenance and any vendor service | Usually strong when installed with protected power and network | Depends on the model’s remote monitoring and recovery features | Studios that already have reliable inputs and want to reduce desktop dependence |
| Managed cloud service other than StreamNeo | Provider-dependent | Provider-dependent | Designed to remove the local computer | Verify uptime, restart behavior, storage, geographic delivery and rights workflow in the current contract | Teams that want hosted operations and accept provider-specific limits |
StreamNeo is the first option to consider for this use case: it keeps an uploaded YouTube stream running from the cloud, accepts any quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded at one flat price per slot, and includes a first day free with no card. It is YouTube-only and does not broadcast from a camera.
DIY method: run the playlist with OBS Studio
OBS Studio is free, open-source software for recording and live streaming on Windows, macOS and Linux. It can combine media, images, browser sources and audio, but a 24/7 deployment still depends on the computer, electricity, operating system and internet connection staying available.

Prepare the computer and files
- Use a computer with enough free storage for the complete playlist and a separate copy of the rights ledger.
- Put files in a deterministic order and use clear filenames. Avoid changing the folder while OBS is playing.
- Use a licensed or self-created visual scene. Do not add album art, lyrics or logos until their permissions are documented.
- Disable sleep, hibernation and automatic restarts during the planned broadcast window, while still scheduling security updates for a controlled maintenance period.
- Connect the computer and networking equipment to a UPS or another tested power-protection setup.
Build the scene and playlist
- Open OBS and create a scene for the channel’s visual layout.
- Add a Media Source for a pre-rendered programme file, or use a media playlist that advances through the cleared tracks.
- Enable looping only when the order and licence term permit repeated plays. Log the currently playing item so a restart does not silently skip or repeat a large section.
- Add the licensed image, animation or lyric layer. Keep text readable at the output resolution and avoid third-party branding that is not cleared.
- In the Audio Mixer, watch the meters while the loudest track plays. Prevent clipping and check that the source does not fall silent between files.
Set a practical encoder baseline
Use a stable H.264 profile unless your tested YouTube workflow and hardware support another codec. Start with constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval and AAC audio. Match the output to the source rather than upscaling a low-resolution file.
| Output target | Video starting point | Audio starting point | When to use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | H.264 CBR around 2.5–4 Mbps | AAC 128–160 kbps | Lower upload capacity or simple visual scenes |
| 1080p30 | H.264 CBR around 4.5–6 Mbps | AAC 128–160 kbps | Most music channels with a 30-frame source |
| 1080p60 | H.264 CBR around 6–9 Mbps | AAC 160 kbps | Sources with genuine 60-frame motion; do not create 60 fps from 30 fps merely to enlarge a number |
| 4K | Use only when the source, encoder and upload link have been tested for the required throughput | AAC matched to the tested profile | High-resolution masters and a network with substantial headroom |
These are starting profiles, not a promise of YouTube acceptance. Check the live preview for dropped frames and adjust downward before viewers see repeated buffering. Keep at least 20 percent upload headroom above the selected bitrate, and test the complete path at the busiest time your connection normally experiences.
Connect OBS to YouTube
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service when available, or choose a custom service and paste the YouTube server URL.
- Paste the stream key from YouTube Studio. Never include spaces before or after it.
- Open Settings → Output and apply the tested encoder, CBR bitrate, keyframe interval and audio rate.
- Open Settings → Video and select the tested base and output resolution, frame rate and scaling method.
- Save the profile and start an unlisted stream. Watch OBS’s dropped-frame and bitrate indicators as well as YouTube’s preview.
Add restart and watchdog controls
OBS can recover from some source errors, but unattended operation needs an operating-system-level watchdog or scheduled task that detects a stopped process and relaunches it. Have the watchdog record restart times, preserve the current playlist position when practical and alert a human. Test recovery by stopping OBS, disconnecting the network briefly and removing power through the UPS procedure. A restart that works only when you are sitting at the keyboard is not a 24/7 plan.

Dedicated hardware encoder: when it makes sense
A standalone encoder can remove a general-purpose desktop from the chain. YouTube’s verified-encoder list includes devices such as AJA HELO Plus, but availability and firmware change, so verify the current model and support before buying.
Check these specifications
- Required inputs: HDMI, SDI, embedded audio or another connector matching your playback source.
- H.264 or HEVC support and the exact resolution, frame-rate and bitrate combinations.
- RTMPS or HLS compatibility with the YouTube ingest endpoint you will use.
- Local recording, storage limits and whether a playlist can be played without another computer.
- Remote monitoring, event logs and automatic recovery after network or power loss.
- Thermal behavior, ventilation and safe operation through a full day and night.
Hardware lowers software complexity but does not clear music rights. You still need the ledger, allowlisting, visual permissions, a UPS and a person who can replace a claimed track.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for uploaded videos and playlists. It keeps the stream running while your computer is off, plays files exactly as uploaded up to 4K 60fps without re-encoding, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage pooled across your active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery and support from the StreamNeo team.

Keep a deterministic playlist and playback log
Use a fixed order and record the item currently playing, start time and next item. When a process or cloud session restarts, the log tells you whether a track was skipped or repeated. Mark files that are near the end of their licence term so they can be removed before the next loop.
Monitor the signals that reveal a failure
- Encoder or cloud process health and the last successful heartbeat.
- Outgoing bitrate, dropped frames and reconnect attempts.
- Audio silence, clipping and unexpected level changes.
- YouTube’s live preview, stream-health indicators and current viewer-facing status.
- Content ID warnings, copyright emails and messages from rights owners.
- Playlist position, storage remaining and the next scheduled session rotation.
Protect power and internet access
Use a UPS for the encoder, router and modem where possible. Test recovery after a power interruption, ISP outage and process crash. If the network uses a dynamic address or restrictive firewall, verify that outbound RTMPS traffic remains allowed and that the encoder reconnects without manual input.
Rotate sessions instead of trusting one endless event
YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. Do not assume a single 24-hour session will archive or recover exactly as you want. Plan a controlled handoff: start the next event, verify its preview, then stop the old event only after the replacement is carrying the playlist. Keep the handoff time in your operator calendar and rehearse it with an unlisted event.
Prepare a rights-owner escalation path
Give the operator a copy of the ledger, allowlist confirmations and contact details. If YouTube identifies a recording outside the cleared list, stop or replace that item promptly. Do not dispute a claim blindly; first compare the claimed track, territory and term with the contract. If an owner has not allowlisted the channel, ask for that action before resuming public transmission.

Troubleshooting a 24/7 Tamil livestream
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Stream is interrupted by a copyright warning | Content ID owner has not allowlisted the channel, or the track is outside the licence | Stop the affected item, check the ledger, contact the owner for allowlisting and replace the track if rights are missing |
| YouTube shows no incoming video | Wrong server URL, expired or mistyped stream key, or encoder not started | Regenerate or copy the key again, verify the ingest URL, start the encoder and watch the preview before making the event public |
| Video buffers or dropped frames climb | Upload capacity is too low, the connection is congested or bitrate is set too high | Measure the real upload rate, reduce output bitrate or resolution, reserve headroom and test at the busiest period |
| Audio is silent between songs | Media source transition, incompatible file or audio device routing | Test every file, use a playlist method that handles transitions, confirm the OBS mixer meter moves and remove unnecessary audio-device dependencies |
| Picture freezes while bitrate appears normal | Media source has stalled or the encoder process is hung | Restart the source or process, enable watchdog monitoring and inspect logs to identify the file that caused the stall |
| Stream stops after a power cut | Computer, router or encoder rebooted without an automatic restart | Use a UPS, configure automatic boot and process launch, then perform a full power-recovery test |
| A restart repeats or skips a large part of the playlist | No playback position log or nondeterministic file order | Use fixed ordering and log the current item and timestamp before each handoff |
| Archive is missing or incomplete | Session exceeded the documented under-12-hour automatic-archive condition or ended unexpectedly | Rotate sessions below 12 hours, verify each archive and retain an approved local master where the licence permits recording |
| Visual claim appears despite cleared music | Album art, lyrics, logo or background loop has separate rights | Remove the asset, replace it with an original or licensed visual and document that permission separately |
Launch checklist
- Every recording and composition has an identified owner, territory, term and monetization decision.
- The licence explicitly covers YouTube Live and states whether replays are permitted.
- Every relevant Content ID owner has confirmed allowlisting for the channel.
- Album art, lyric video, logo and background permissions are documented.
- The channel is verified, live streaming is activated and the 24-hour activation window has passed.
- The stream key is stored privately and entered into the chosen encoder or cloud service.
- An unlisted rehearsal has completed without silence, freezes, dropped frames or rights warnings.
- Power, internet, process monitoring and operator alerts have been tested.
- A session-rotation schedule and rights-owner escalation path are written down.
- The public launch uses only tracks that remain inside their licence term and territories.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rotate several Tamil playlists on one channel?
Yes, if the same channel-level rights, allowlisting and visual permissions cover every playlist. Keep separate ledgers so a change in one playlist does not obscure an expired or restricted track in another.
Is an unlisted rehearsal enough to prove the public stream is cleared?
No. It validates the technical path and can expose Content ID behavior, but you still need written rights for the public territories, term, monetization and replay conditions before switching to Public.
What should I do when a rights owner changes its Content ID policy?
Pause the affected recording, obtain updated written instructions and replace or remove the track until the owner confirms the channel’s current allowlist status.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I rotate several Tamil playlists on one channel?
Yes, when the channel-level rights, Content ID allowlisting and visual permissions cover every playlist. Keep a separate ledger for each playlist.
Is an unlisted rehearsal enough to prove a public stream is cleared?
No. It tests the technical path and may reveal Content ID behavior, but public rights and written permissions are still required.
Can a cloud service solve a copyright claim?
No. Cloud hosting removes local hardware and connection duties; it does not replace music, composition or visual rights.
