Yes—you can loop prerecorded gameplay on YouTube Live using OBS on an existing PC, but a low purchase price does not guarantee reliable 24/7 operation. The stream depends on the PC staying on, stable upload bandwidth, uninterrupted power, and a channel that is allowed to livestream. Start with a short test at a conservative bitrate, and plan separately for outages and for saving an archive.
What you need—and what a low-cost PC can and cannot promise
YouTube supports encoder-based streams for gameplay, and OBS can send a local video file or playlist as a live broadcast. That makes an existing PC a reasonable place to start; it does not establish a universal minimum PC specification or guarantee that a particular machine can run continuously. OBS’s setup wizard considers hardware and network conditions, but a real test is still necessary.

- A YouTube channel with livestream access and an encoder stream created in YouTube Studio.
- OBS Studio and gameplay footage you have permission to broadcast.
- A PC that can remain powered on, sufficient free storage if recording locally, and an internet connection with stable upload capacity.
- A plan for what to do if the PC, power, OBS, or internet connection stops.
There is no India-specific encoder setting established here. Your ISP’s actual upload stability, home power continuity, and account status are the practical variables to check locally.
Check YouTube access and gameplay rights first
Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take time, so check access before planning a launch. YouTube Help’s “Get started with live streaming” explains the account prerequisites and encoder workflow.

Use footage and audio you are allowed to stream
Before making a VOD loop, check the game publisher’s streaming terms and the rights for any soundtrack, overlays, or other included material. Credit or a disclaimer does not by itself establish permission. Rules vary by publisher and by the material in the video, so do not assume that gameplay is automatically cleared for every use.
Permission to broadcast and eligibility to earn money are separate questions. YouTube’s monetization policies cover live streams, including rules for reused and inauthentic content. A repetitive loop is not a guarantee of YouTube Partner Program eligibility or revenue. YouTube announced that “repetitious content” was renamed “inauthentic content” on July 15, 2025, clarifying its treatment of repetitive or mass-produced content; it said the reused-content policy did not change.

Set up the stream in YouTube Studio and OBS
- Create the encoder stream: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using an encoder. Choose the Gaming type if appropriate, then set the title, description, visibility, and other stream details. YouTube Help describes encoders as a way to stream gameplay and overlays; extra hardware is not a requirement for looping a local file.
- Copy the connection details: In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like sensitive account access information: do not publish it or share it. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Add the VOD: In OBS, add a Media Source, select the local gameplay video, and enable Loop. Set its audio behavior deliberately—check that the file’s audio is audible at a sensible level and that no unwanted desktop or microphone audio is being captured.
- Build a playlist if needed: For multiple files, add OBS’s VLC Video Source, select the playlist files, and enable Loop Playlist. OBS documentation notes that VLC must be installed for this source to appear. You can also enable shuffle if you want the playlist order randomized.
- Choose a starting output target: Set OBS to a quality your measured upload can sustain. YouTube’s H.264 recommendations are 3 Mbps for 720p30, 6 Mbps for 720p60, 5 Mbps for 1080p30, and 6 Mbps for 1080p60. These are encoder video-bitrate recommendations, not a guarantee that a household connection can sustain them. YouTube recommends CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS. Match the output resolution and frame rate to the source and the connection rather than choosing the highest setting by default.
- Check the preview before going live: Start OBS streaming and inspect the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Confirm picture, audio, title, and visibility, then start the event from Live Control Room. Use an unlisted or private test first if you do not want an initial test broadcast shown publicly.
For a single VOD, the Media Source loop is the simplest setup. Capturing an actively running game instead is a different workflow: add a suitable game-capture source rather than treating the live game as a prerecorded file.

Do not select bitrate based only on the speed printed on an ISP plan. Measure upload performance at the location and time you expect to stream, then test the actual PC and OBS configuration. A speed test is a snapshot; a 24/7 broadcast needs sustained stability as well as enough headroom.

- Start with 720p30 at YouTube’s recommended 3 Mbps video bitrate if the connection is uncertain.
- Raise resolution or frame rate only after a test remains stable. More detail is useful only if the upload path can deliver it consistently.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health and OBS statistics during the test. Dropped frames or disconnects point to a connection, network path, or bitrate problem; lower the bitrate or address the instability before relying on the stream.
- Check audio and motion in the preview, not just whether OBS says it is streaming.
YouTube’s encoder guide advises choosing quality that produces a reliable stream on your internet connection. No universal upload-speed figure can promise uninterrupted service for every Indian ISP, home router, or connection type.

A stream that stays live and an archive that contains the entire broadcast are different goals. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a single stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If the VOD archive matters, schedule a restart before the 12-hour threshold and verify each segment appears in the channel’s content, or make a local OBS recording as a backup. A restart introduces a brief interruption, so it is not the same as one uninterrupted event.

OBS recommends making a local archive. Recording consumes storage according to the bitrate, recording format, and how long you keep files; calculate expected file size for your own settings and retention period before choosing a drive. An external SSD is optional for local recordings, not required to send a stream to YouTube.

Monitor the machine and stream, and have a way to restore OBS and restart the event after an interruption. Neither a low-cost PC nor consumer internet is established as a guaranteed-uptime solution.
Choose between a home PC and a cloud stream
Running OBS locally avoids a streaming-service subscription, but the PC, power, storage, and internet at home must remain available. A cloud encoder shifts the always-on machine away from your home, but adds a service cost and means checking the provider’s terms. For a low-cost-PC setup, the choice is less about the sticker price of the computer than whether you can keep the complete home setup stable and recover it when something fails.
