You can run a prerecorded fireplace video as a continuous YouTube Live broadcast from a Windows PC by enabling live streaming on your channel, connecting an encoder such as OBS to YouTube Studio with the stream URL and key, and keeping the PC and internet connection running. This do-it-yourself method gives you control, but it depends on your computer, power, encoder and connection staying available. For a cloud-run alternative, see the section below.
Before you start
- Make the channel eligible for live streaming. YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time encoder streaming can take up to 24 hours to become enabled, so do not leave setup until the day of your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Prepare rights-cleared video and audio. Use material you own or have permission to livestream, and keep records of licenses. A fireplace visual may be yours while its soundtrack is not, so check both separately.
- Choose an encoder. YouTube lists OBS as open-source software at no charge, along with Windows options including PRISM Live Studio, Streamlabs, Wirecast and XSplit. Features and availability can change; check the software provider’s current information before installing.
- Check your PC and connection. The computer must remain on, the source file must remain accessible, and the internet connection must sustain the outgoing stream. The available official guidance does not establish a suitable PC specification, bitrate or India-specific upload-speed recommendation. Consult YouTube’s current encoder settings and test with your actual setup.
Set up the YouTube Live stream
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live.
- Create the stream, or schedule it for later. Scheduling creates a watch page that you can promote and lets viewers set reminders.
- Open the stream settings in Live Control Room and copy the YouTube server URL and stream key.
- In your Windows encoder, select its YouTube or RTMP streaming destination and enter the server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it could send a feed to your stream. Do not publish it or share it with untrusted people.
- Load your fireplace video and audio into the encoder. Configure the output using YouTube’s current encoder-settings guidance, then start the encoder feed.
- Check the preview and stream status in Live Control Room. Once the feed is healthy, select the control to go live if your stream setup requires it.
Keep a Windows PC stream running
A 24/7 broadcast depends on the PC, encoder, source file and internet connection continuing to work. Before relying on it, test the complete path: start the video, confirm YouTube receives it, and check that audio and picture behave as intended. Keep the source file locally accessible and monitor YouTube Studio for stream-health warnings and copyright notices.

- Prevent avoidable interruptions. Disable sleep while the broadcast is meant to run, keep the PC connected to power and use a stable wired connection where practical. These are operational precautions, not YouTube requirements.
- Plan for restarts and outages. Decide how you will restart the encoder after a Windows update, PC restart, encoder crash or connection failure. A UPS may help through brief power interruptions, but the needed capacity depends on the PC and networking equipment; no specific runtime or capacity is established here.
- Use a test broadcast. Verify video playback, audio levels, encoder output and YouTube’s received-stream status before announcing the continuous stream. A local preview alone does not confirm that YouTube is receiving a healthy feed.
Rights, copyright checks and monetization
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt it or terminate the broadcast; after the stream ends, an archived version may also receive a Content ID claim. A license does not necessarily prevent a live interruption if the rights owner has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A continuous fireplace loop is not guaranteed to qualify for monetization or to generate qualifying watch time. What to expect from a 24-hour archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that one broadcast running for a full 24 hours will be preserved as a complete replay. If a complete replay matters, check the current Live Control Room behavior and consider shorter broadcast segments or a separate recording workflow rather than assuming the full day will be archived.
Troubleshooting a fireplace livestream

Does a YouTube stream key expire?
Check the stream settings in YouTube Studio for the key associated with your stream; treat any active key as a password and replace it if exposed.
