A stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived, so a live feed is not the same as a complete replay. What a 24/7 prerecorded story stream does—and does not—guarantee
An encoder can send prerecorded video as a YouTube live broadcast. That establishes a way to transmit the feed, not a guarantee that YouTube will support an unattended loop indefinitely. Plan separately for transmission, recovery if the feed stops, and keeping a complete recording.

- Live feed: viewers watch the encoder’s outgoing broadcast while it is running.
- Archive: YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24-hour stream therefore does not assure a full replay.
- Local copy: if preserving the entire program matters, make and verify a separate local recording rather than relying on YouTube’s archive.
YouTube’s archive guidance also warns that DVR, which lets viewers pause and rewind during a live broadcast, can be limited or unavailable on streams over 12 hours. Treat the archive and DVR behavior as separate from whether the live feed is still playing.

Check eligibility, audience classification, and rights first
Confirm the channel can livestream
YouTube’s current live-streaming guidance states that a channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and that the person livestreaming must be at least 16 years old. Check the channel’s current status before building a schedule; a restriction or eligibility issue cannot be fixed by changing encoder settings.

Set the audience honestly
Spanish language and story format alone do not determine whether a video is “Made for Kids.” Assess the intended audience and the actual material, then set the audience appropriately when creating the live stream in YouTube Studio. Creators are responsible for this designation; do not select a different audience setting just to retain features.
For content marked Made for Kids, YouTube lists restrictions that include live chat, personalized advertising, channel memberships, notifications, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. Plan the stream and any community interaction around the features that are actually available.

Clear every part of the program for the intended use
Make sure you have the necessary rights for the live broadcast and any archive or other use in the relevant territories. This applies not only to the story text, but also to readings, illustrations, recordings, music, and sound effects. A story being old, familiar, or available online does not by itself establish permission to stream it.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A placeholder may replace the feed, and the stream can be interrupted or terminated if matched material continues. Having a license may not prevent an interruption if the relevant rights-management steps are missing. Resolve those steps with the rights holder before going live.

Prepare the prerecorded program and a continuity plan
Organize the material you are authorized to use
Put the story videos in the intended order and check that each file plays correctly from beginning to end. Decide whether the broadcast will repeat a single program or move through a planned sequence. The reviewed YouTube and encoder guidance does not establish a built-in YouTube feature for unattended looping or playlist playback, so confirm that your chosen encoder can perform the playback behavior you need before announcing a continuous schedule.
Choose and test an encoder
YouTube supports streaming through an encoder. OBS is one encoder option with stream-configuration controls, but the available sources do not establish a minimum computer specification or a computer model that can reliably stay online around the clock. Treat a computer running encoder software as equipment to test, not as a promise of uninterrupted service.

Before the public broadcast, test the entire chain privately or with an appropriately limited test: video playback, audio, stream connection, and the point where the program repeats or advances. Confirm that the stream is actually live in YouTube’s controls and that sound is present. For a long run, practical continuity planning includes monitoring the feed and testing a recovery procedure in advance; YouTube does not guarantee automatic restarts or uninterrupted operation.
Choose settings based on the source and encoder
Use the encoder’s current YouTube-compatible guidance and match output settings to the prerecorded source and the capability of the system sending it. The sources available for this guide do not specify a current bitrate, keyframe interval, resolution, frame rate, or minimum hardware configuration, so no universal numeric setting is asserted here. Do not upscale a low-resolution source merely to select a larger output size. Check the encoder’s current documentation and YouTube Studio status indicators, then verify the result with a test broadcast before committing to a long schedule.

Create the YouTube broadcast and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and create a live stream. Use the current live-stream setup flow and enter the broadcast details, including the title and other metadata you want viewers to see. YouTube’s interface can change, so follow the labels currently shown in Studio.
- Set the audience. Choose the correct Made for Kids status based on the content and intended audience. Do not make this choice based on which features you want to enable.
- Get the connection details from YouTube Studio. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a YouTube Live server URL and a stream key. Treat the key as a credential: it allows an encoder to send to your stream. Do not show it in a tutorial, screenshot, public document, or on-screen capture.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the server URL and stream key in the encoder’s stream settings, select the prepared program, and use settings compatible with your source and the encoder’s current YouTube guidance. Confirm any playback or repeat behavior in the encoder itself; do not assume that YouTube will loop the uploaded files for you.
- Start the encoder and check YouTube Studio. Confirm that YouTube is receiving the feed, inspect the preview and audio, and start the broadcast using the controls presented in the current Studio workflow.
- Monitor and document recovery. Check the live feed after launch and have a tested way to restore it if the encoder, computer, or connection stops. Do not treat a successful launch as evidence that the stream will remain live for 24 hours.
Plan for archives, monetization, and children’s viewing
Preserve a complete replay separately
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that streams over 12 hours may not be captured. Because a 24-hour program exceeds that threshold, viewers may not receive a complete replay. If the replay is important, record locally and verify the resulting file; do not assume that DVR or the YouTube archive will preserve the whole program.
Do not build the business plan around guaranteed monetization
YouTube’s monetization policy update dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible. Original stories with meaningful variation and creative value are a stronger editorial proposition than repeatedly broadcasting minimally changed templates, but no format guarantees a channel’s eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program.
For streams designated Made for Kids, personalized advertising is not shown and features are restricted. Do not forecast revenue from ad views or assume that continuous playback will be monetized.

- You cannot start a live stream: verify that the channel is verified, that no live-stream restriction applies from the previous 90 days, and that the person livestreaming meets YouTube’s stated minimum age of 16.
- YouTube is not receiving the encoder feed: check that the server URL and stream key were copied from the intended YouTube Studio stream and entered in the encoder’s stream configuration. Keep the key private; if it has been exposed, use YouTube’s current controls to replace or reset it.
- The video plays, but viewers hear no audio: inspect the encoder’s audio source and levels, then run another test and listen to the YouTube preview. Do not assume that audible local playback means audio is being sent in the live feed.
- The program stops at the end of a file: check the encoder’s playback and repeat behavior. The YouTube encoder workflow does not establish that YouTube itself will loop prerecorded files.
- The broadcast is interrupted by a rights match: identify the matched story, image, recording, music, or sound effect. Confirm that the permission covers the live use and complete any required rights-management steps with the relevant rights holder.
- The archive is incomplete or missing: a stream over 12 hours may not be captured. Use a separately verified local recording when a complete replay is required.
- The stream is not continuously available: check the encoder, the computer running it, and the connection, then use the recovery procedure you tested. The sources do not establish a guaranteed uptime or automatic restart for a self-managed encoder setup.
