You can run a 24/7 Hindu aarti stream from a Mac mini by sending OBS’s video and audio output to YouTube Live, but the Mac, encoder, internet connection, and power must remain available. For an archive, schedule separate broadcasts shorter than 12 hours: YouTube warns that longer streams may not be captured. Enable livestreaming in advance, test your exact setup, and use only recordings and visuals for which you have the necessary rights.
Choose a local Mac mini setup or a cloud loop
For a stream built around a live camera, microphone, or other live inputs, OBS on a Mac mini gives you local control over the scene and audio. It also makes the broadcast dependent on that Mac, its power, and its internet connection staying up. For a continuous feed made from uploaded, prerecorded videos, a cloud service may avoid keeping a computer at home running.

- StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider for uploaded-video loops: it keeps a YouTube stream running from the cloud, at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with the first day free. It plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera. See StreamNeo.
- Local OBS on a Mac mini: suitable when you want to combine live camera or audio inputs with prepared material, and can maintain and monitor the local setup.
- Gyre: YouTube lists it as a cloud tool for 24/7 YouTube streams of prerecorded videos. Check its current features and terms directly; YouTube’s listing does not establish its pricing or reliability.
The steps below explain the local OBS method. If your aarti broadcast can be made from uploaded videos and does not need a live camera or microphone, see the cloud option after the setup and troubleshooting guidance.

Verify eligibility and activate livestreaming early
YouTube requires a verified channel and no active livestreaming restrictions. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it at least a day before the planned launch rather than waiting until the event. You can review YouTube’s live streaming setup guidance for current channel requirements.

Confirm the Mac is compatible, then test its workload
OBS supports Intel and Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later, according to its system requirements. Check the macOS version and processor on the specific Mac mini you plan to use. Compatibility does not prove that a given Mac can encode your chosen resolution, frame rate, scene, and local recording at once; test the actual configuration before relying on it. No model-specific Mac mini performance result is established here.
Gather the audio and visual material
Decide whether the stream will show a live camera, a prepared visual, or a playlist of prepared visuals, and whether the aarti audio is live or prerecorded. Test the actual combination in OBS. Keep original media files available locally, especially if you plan to record a backup while streaming.

Create a YouTube stream and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream. Review the stream’s audience, visibility, and other broadcast details before launch.
- Copy the server URL and stream key from the stream settings into OBS’s streaming configuration. YouTube uses the key as a credential that identifies where the encoder sends its feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Treat it as a password: do not publish it, show it on screen, or share it with anyone who should not control the stream. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Use RTMPS where available, as YouTube recommends it. Select the matching server URL shown for your stream rather than typing in a guessed address.
- Set up an OBS scene with the camera, prepared visual, and audio sources you intend to use. Confirm that the right microphone or media audio is audible and that the image is framed correctly.
- Start the encoder for a private test and check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before making the broadcast public. YouTube’s live tips recommend starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before an event and continuously monitoring audio and video quality.
Set a reliable starting video and audio configuration
For a first test, use 720p or 1080p at 30 frames per second rather than adding 4K complexity without a clear need. Match the OBS output to the quality of the source and what your connection can sustain. YouTube’s encoder guidance supports H.264, HEVC, or AV1 over RTMP/RTMPS and up to 60 fps; for a straightforward setup, H.264 is a practical starting point.

| Setting | Starting point or YouTube guidance | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec | H.264 is a straightforward starting choice; YouTube also lists HEVC and AV1. | Use a codec and encoder mode supported by the Mac and OBS configuration. |
| Resolution and frame rate | Try 720p or 1080p at 30 fps first; YouTube supports up to 60 fps. | Test the actual scene. A static devotional image may not need a high frame rate. |
| Rate control | Constant bitrate (CBR), as recommended by YouTube. | Watch for dropped frames and unstable stream health during a representative test. |
| Video bitrate | For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube’s current table gives 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended. | These are ingestion guidance, not a guarantee of available upload capacity. Test with stable upload bandwidth and leave headroom for other network use. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds. | Set the encoder to the recommended interval and verify the output settings. |
| Stereo audio | 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 kbps recommended by YouTube. | Listen for clipping, silence, sync drift, and unwanted room or system noise. |
YouTube’s current settings and bitrate tables are available in its encoder settings guidance. A bitrate number alone cannot establish whether a particular home connection will sustain the stream: test with the actual audio, movement, and network conditions, and monitor YouTube’s stream-health feedback.

Schedule sessions shorter than 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you want a YouTube archive, plan separate sessions that end comfortably before the 12-hour threshold, then start the next one. Expect a brief transition between sessions; a single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast is not a reliable way to obtain a complete YouTube archive.
Record a local backup and verify it
Use OBS’s local recording option if the Mac can handle recording and streaming together, and check that the recording file is growing during the broadcast. After a test, play the file back to confirm the audio and video are intact. YouTube also recommends a local archive backup. Preserve the source files as well as the recordings.

Plan for local failures
A local stream depends on the Mac mini, encoder, internet connection, and power. Monitor the Live Control Room and the actual audio/video feed; do not assume that a stream is healthy merely because OBS remains open. A UPS is an optional planning consideration for power interruptions, but its suitable capacity depends on your equipment and desired runtime. The exact restart automation or network design needed for your location is not established here, so test any recovery procedure before depending on it.

Check music, performance, and visual rights
A devotional subject does not automatically make a particular recording or image free to use. A traditional prayer text or melody is distinct from a modern recording, arrangement, performance, artwork, or video. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to have necessary rights for the live content, including applicable music rights. Its copyright guidance for live streams says live broadcasts are scanned for third-party content; unresolved matches can interrupt or terminate a stream. Even licensed third-party content may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Confirm rights for the exact assets and arrange any needed allowlisting before going live.

Troubleshoot common problems
- Livestreaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for active livestream restrictions. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours and complete setup before the intended start.
- YouTube receives no video: confirm that OBS is using the server URL and stream key shown for the correct stream, that the encoder is started, and that the scene contains an active visual source. Keep the key private; replace it if exposed.
- Stream health is poor or frames drop: test a lower resolution or bitrate, check for other upload-heavy activity, and compare the connection’s sustained upload capacity with the selected bitrate. Re-test with the real scene rather than relying on a speed-test peak.
- Viewers cannot hear the aarti: check the intended OBS audio source and meters, then listen to the YouTube preview. Confirm the media or microphone is not muted and that the selected output includes it.
- The broadcast is interrupted after copyrighted-content detection: review the specific recording and visual rights, remove material you cannot use, and arrange channel allowlisting with the rights owner when required.
- The YouTube archive is missing or incomplete: do not rely on automatic capture for a stream longer than 12 hours. Use planned shorter sessions and verify a local recording backup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the same stream key be kept private if several people help operate the channel?
Treat the key as a credential, not as a public setup detail. Limit access to people who should be able to send a broadcast, and replace it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
