You can run a Hindi music livestream by hosting an encoder such as FFmpeg on a Linux Amazon Lightsail instance and sending its output to a YouTube live broadcast. The VPS can keep the encoder running when your own computer is off, but Lightsail is only the server: it does not provide music rights, manage your YouTube broadcast, or guarantee an uninterrupted stream. The exact encoder settings and server size depend on your channel, media, and workload, so validate them on the instance you plan to use.
How the Lightsail-to-YouTube setup works
There are two separate parts: the encoder produces a live feed, and YouTube receives that feed as part of a broadcast. Lightsail hosts the encoder and media; YouTube Studio is where you create and manage the broadcast and check its incoming stream. YouTube’s Live Streaming API likewise treats a broadcast and its stream feed as separate concepts.

This setup is for uploaded or stored recordings played as a live feed, not a camera broadcast. Hindi music does not require a different streaming architecture, but every audio track and visual still needs appropriate rights for the way you plan to use it.

Confirm YouTube livestream access and create a broadcast
- Check that your channel can currently livestream, then use YouTube Studio to create or schedule a live broadcast.
- Open the broadcast’s stream settings and use the ingest method and connection settings shown for your channel. YouTube documents HLS as one encoder ingest method, but it is not required for every configuration. Do not assume a protocol or ingest address from a tutorial applies to your channel.
- Copy the stream key from the channel’s YouTube Studio interface and keep it private. Anyone with the key may be able to send a feed to the associated broadcast. Do not put it in public scripts, screenshots, or source control; restrict access to the account and server files that need it.
Clear every track and visual for continuous live use
Get permission for each song and each visual element, including artwork, overlays, and any third-party material. Confirm that permission covers continuous YouTube livestreaming, the territories where the stream may be available, and archived playback if you plan to keep the replay. A license alone may not prevent a Content ID interruption: YouTube advises licensed creators to ask the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist.

YouTube Help says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can replace the live video with a placeholder, trigger a warning, interrupt or terminate the stream, and lead to a Content ID claim on the archive after the broadcast ends. Resolve rights and allowlisting before launch, rather than treating them as post-launch housekeeping.
Live Content ID matching is not a switch available to ordinary channels. YouTube restricts it to partners with Content Manager access and requires global rights and exclusive ownership of all content in the stream, including static images, commercials, or background music.

Choose a Lightsail instance and estimate the cost
Choose a bundle based on measured encoder workload and expected transfer, not simply because a plan is described as suitable for streaming. AWS’s listed figures below are plan specifications recorded on 2026-10-03; they do not certify that a particular FFmpeg configuration will work on either instance.
| Listed Linux public IPv4 bundle | Listed monthly price | vCPUs | Memory | Storage | Data transfer allowance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nano-0.5GB | USD $5 per month | 2 | 0.5 GB | 20 GB | 1 TB |
| Micro-1GB | USD $7 per month | 2 | 1 GB | 40 GB | 2 TB |
These are AWS’s listed plan figures, not a full bill or a recommendation. Pricing, bundle availability, and allowances can vary by region and change. AWS counts both inbound and outbound traffic toward the instance transfer allowance; eligible excess outbound transfer can be chargeable, and allowances are reduced in certain Asia-Pacific and South American regions. Your actual requirement depends on the outgoing feed’s traffic and the selected region. Add any optional backup or monitoring services to your own estimate rather than assuming they are included.

Create the server and decide whether you need a static IP
- Create a Linux Lightsail instance in a region that makes sense for your administration and expected workload.
- Start with a bundle you can test, then observe resource use with your intended media and encoder settings. The published bundle specifications do not establish the instance size needed for a particular resolution, bitrate, or encoding workload.
- Attach a static IP if you need a stable public address for administration or another service. AWS says an attached static IP stays fixed when the instance is stopped and started and has no charge while attached to an instance. It does not preserve an active YouTube ingest session through a reboot or make the stream resilient.
Configure the encoder and start a test broadcast
The sources for this setup do not establish a tested FFmpeg command, bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, service unit, or recovery script. Do not copy arbitrary values from a different channel or describe an unverified recipe as guaranteed. Use the current encoder guidance and ingest settings displayed for your YouTube channel, and test the chosen configuration on your actual Lightsail instance before relying on it.
- Install your chosen encoder on the Linux instance and put only the media you are authorized to stream there. Check available disk space and confirm that all referenced audio and visual files are present.
- Prepare the playback input so it can continue through the material you intend to broadcast. If you are using a playlist or loop, verify the order, transitions, and behavior at the end of the list; do not assume a process restart will resume at the right point.
- Configure the encoder to send its output to the ingest method and stream key shown in YouTube Studio. Store the key with restricted permissions and do not expose it in logs or a publicly accessible file.
- Run a short test while watching the broadcast’s preview and status in YouTube Studio. Confirm that audio is audible, the intended visuals appear, the stream is stable, and the stream is connected to the correct broadcast before you rely on it for a long session.
- After the test, run the encoder under a supervisor or other validated process-monitoring arrangement so a process exit can be detected and handled. The correct service configuration and restart behavior are implementation-specific; test recovery deliberately before treating it as operational.
Limit public access and monitor both ends
Lightsail firewalls govern incoming traffic to the instance; outbound traffic is allowed. YouTube ingest is an outbound connection from the VPS, so do not open public inbound ports just to make the stream reach YouTube. Keep only the inbound services you actually need, secured to appropriate administrative access. Lightsail maintains separate IPv4 and IPv6 firewall rules, so review both rather than assuming one set covers the other.

- Monitor the encoder process and whether it is producing output.
- Check the YouTube Studio preview and stream status to catch a feed that is running on the VPS but not arriving correctly at YouTube.
- Plan for encoder failure, instance maintenance, network faults, content blocks, and copyright interruptions. A continuously running VPS does not by itself ensure continuous availability.
- Track transfer and billing in the selected region. Do not treat the published allowance as guaranteed free headroom for every 24/7 stream.
What Lightsail does—and does not—provide
In this design, YouTube is the viewer-facing platform and Lightsail hosts an encoder that pushes a feed to it. That is different from AWS’s managed live-streaming architecture, which uses MediaLive to encode, MediaPackage or MediaStore to prepare or store outputs, and CloudFront to distribute them to viewers. A Lightsail instance does not give a channel that managed-media architecture or a global CDN. The right design depends on whether YouTube alone is the destination or whether you need a separately controlled delivery service, plus your recovery, monitoring, and cost requirements. The available figures do not support an apples-to-apples price comparison between these approaches.

If you want a YouTube-only service that plays uploaded videos without maintaining a VPS and encoder yourself, StreamNeo is an alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded material from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month; UPI and cards are supported in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera.
