Before you start, clear the music rights for a public livestream and any archived playback: owning or subscribing to tracks does not by itself establish those rights.

YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so check access in YouTube Studio before configuring a server. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights for the live content worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other rights holders. A personal music subscription, purchased download or generic “royalty-free” label does not by itself prove that you may broadcast the tracks publicly worldwide.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate it if the content remains. Even if you have a license, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist; YouTube says a licensed stream can still be interrupted if allowlisting is required but missing. Keep written permissions and confirm they cover the territories, live broadcast and any archived playback you intend to offer. These platform requirements do not determine the exact legal requirements in every country. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and its copyright guidance for live streams.

Verify the VPS’s outbound capacity and terms
The VPS encoder continuously uploads the stream, so check the exact OVHcloud VPS product, region and account terms before buying. Confirm sustained outbound capacity, traffic allowance or charges, and any applicable limits. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above the stream bitrate; that is general platform guidance, not a tested requirement for a particular OVHcloud VPS.
OVHcloud’s bandwidth FAQ describes bandwidth as shared and not guaranteed, and notes that service- or region-specific public traffic limits may apply. It does not establish a current outbound allowance or guarantee for the VPS plan you intend to use. Do not infer VPS capacity from a maximum connection figure for another product. OVHcloud also says VPS customers are responsible for software and security administration; see its VPS getting-started guidance.

Prepare the Hindi playlist and encoder
Choose and test the playlist
Put only tracks you are authorized to broadcast into the playlist. Check that files play through cleanly, that the intended order and transitions work, and that the playlist does not end if you expect it to loop. Test the audio for clipping, silence and abrupt cuts before scheduling a continuous broadcast. YouTube’s encoder documentation does not prescribe a particular Linux distribution, player, automation package or daemon for this job, so choose an implementation compatible with your VPS operating system and make sure it can restart and be monitored.
Set output to match the source and available upload
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265 and AV1 video options, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval. Its bitrate recommendations vary by codec, resolution and frame rate. Select the output settings for your chosen encoder and source rather than applying an arbitrary bitrate to a music stream or static visual. Keep the selected bitrate within the VPS’s verified sustained upload capacity, with YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom.

For a playlist that includes a visual or album artwork, test the whole output, not just audio. A successful local playback does not prove that the VPS can sustain the upload. YouTube’s encoder settings and live-streaming guidance provides the current platform recommendations.

- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream. In Live Control Room, locate the stream URL and stream key for the broadcast.
- Choose the RTMPS ingest URL shown for your stream. YouTube supports RTMPS, which adds TLS encryption to RTMP. Use the URL supplied in Live Control Room rather than guessing an address. See YouTube’s encoder connection instructions.
- Enter the URL and key in your encoder. Keep the stream key secret: it authorizes an encoder to send video to your channel. Do not put it in a public script, screenshot, repository or support post. If you think it has been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start the playlist and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Confirm the stream arrives, the audio is audible and the picture is as intended. Check YouTube’s stream-health indicators and watch the VPS encoder and outbound connection for interruptions.
- Confirm the stream remains active before leaving it unattended. Test the playlist looping and the encoder’s restart behavior. Set up monitoring appropriate to your chosen encoder and VPS; the platform documentation does not prescribe one particular process manager or recovery setup.
Troubleshoot common failures
- You cannot start a live stream: verify the channel is eligible and live streaming is enabled. If this is the channel’s first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- YouTube receives no feed: check that the encoder is running and that the RTMPS URL and stream key match the current Live Control Room stream. Confirm the VPS can make outbound connections and has enough sustained upload capacity.
- The preview buffers or stream health degrades: compare the encoder bitrate with available upload bandwidth, including the recommended 20% headroom. Check for traffic limits, congestion or a VPS-side network issue before increasing bitrate.
- The live stream is interrupted over a music match: review the track rights and contact the rights holder. If you licensed the content, ask whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting; keep the stream paused until the rights and platform issue are resolved.
- The broadcast stops when the playlist reaches its end: check the playlist’s repeat behavior and the encoder’s handling of the end of the media list. Test a full loop before relying on it unattended.
- The stream key may have leaked: replace it in YouTube Studio, then update the encoder with the new key.
