To run a 24/7 bhajan stream, use an encoder connected to YouTube Live, choose a bitrate your broadband can sustain, and test it at the address where it will operate. YouTube’s H.264 recommendations range from 8 Mbps for 720p to 17 Mbps for 1080p60; those are encoder bitrates, not guarantees about an ISP plan. Choose a stream quality your upload can sustain
Start with resolution and frame rate, then set the encoder’s video bitrate using YouTube’s current H.264 recommendations. The figures below are encoder settings, not the broadband speed you should expect an advertised plan to deliver continuously. YouTube recommends testing the actual upload and reducing quality if the connection cannot sustain the chosen settings.

These are YouTube Help’s H.264 figures; do not apply them to a different codec’s settings. YouTube supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1, and recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery to its servers. For the encoder, use constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval (no more than 4 seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends 128 Kbps stereo audio. YouTube transcodes incoming live video into viewer playback formats, so your upload bitrate is not each viewer’s playback bitrate.

The suitable plan depends on actual sustained upstream performance at your address, other household use, busy-hour variation, outages, and the provider’s data or fair-use terms. NIC Webcast Services cites 2–4 Mbps of dedicated bandwidth per stream for its own webcast service; that is not a YouTube recommendation or a household broadband requirement. TRAI’s tariff information and service-quality regulations can help you check provider information, but they cannot establish how your line will perform. No provider or plan can be named as the best without address-specific availability and testing.

Enable YouTube Live and prepare the encoder
Complete channel setup before the planned launch. YouTube requires a verified channel with live streaming enabled and no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule the live stream.
- Choose an encoder workflow and copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream.
- Enter the URL and key in the encoder, configure the codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, keyframe interval, and audio settings, then start a test transmission.
- Check the preview and stream health in Live Control Room before making the stream public or beginning the scheduled broadcast.
Treat the stream key like a password: it directs the encoder feed to your YouTube stream, so do not show it on screen or share it publicly. A software encoder is sufficient for a simple image-and-audio bhajan stream; dedicated hardware is optional for more involved production.

Test the connection and the full recovery path
- Set up the encoder, router, and audio exactly as you intend to use them. If possible, connect the encoder computer to the router by Ethernet.
- Measure sustained upload while the home network is being used normally, including at busy times when the stream is expected to run. An ISP’s advertised speed or a single speed test does not establish continuous performance.
- Run an unlisted test stream using representative audio and any planned image movement or overlays. Watch Live Control Room health and check for warnings or dropped frames.
- If the connection struggles, lower the bitrate and, if needed, resolution or frame rate; repeat the test. A stable lower setting is preferable to a higher setting that repeatedly drops frames.
- Test what happens after an internet interruption, encoder restart, and power loss. YouTube recommends testing encoder failover; have a recovery procedure rather than assuming reconnection will always be seamless.
The result applies to that address and setup under the conditions tested. It cannot guarantee future broadband availability. A wired connection can reduce local Wi-Fi variability; a UPS sized for the encoder and modem/router can help through some power interruptions. Neither prevents an ISP outage or guarantees uptime.
Plan for recordings separately from continuous broadcasting
A continuous live broadcast and a complete YouTube replay are different goals. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams over 12 hours.

If viewers need a dependable replay, schedule shorter sessions and restart before reaching 12 hours. That creates a transition or a brief gap unless you have tested a handoff system; do not promise seamless playback without verifying it. Keep a local recording as backup, check that the archive file is growing, and size storage from the chosen recording bitrate and intended retention time. For example, the approximate storage requirement grows with bitrate multiplied by recording duration; allow extra capacity for other files and overhead.
Clear music rights before going live
A devotional theme does not by itself establish permission to livestream a particular recording. A composition, arrangement, performance, and sound recording may have different rights holders. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to secure the necessary rights, including music licensing rights for use on Google services worldwide.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace a stream with a placeholder and warn the streamer to stop using identified content; continuing can lead to interruption or termination. Even where material is licensed, the rightsholder may need to add the channel to a Content ID allowlist. An archived stream can also receive a Content ID claim after it ends.
- Confirm permissions cover the specific composition, arrangement, recording, performers, territories, livestream, and any replay or monetization use you intend.
- Keep written evidence of permissions or license terms, and coordinate Content ID allowlisting with the rightsholder where necessary.
- If rights are unclear, use an original performance with documented permissions or music licensed for the intended live and archived uses.
